Punjab’s Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana has made a significant impact in its first six months, providing cashless medical treatment to more than 2.42 lakh patients and facilitating over 4.79 lakh treatments worth nearly ₹852 crore. Since its launch on January 8, the flagship healthcare scheme has registered more than 47 lakh Sehat Cards, helping eligible families access quality medical care without the burden of high treatment costs.

Under the scheme, beneficiaries receive annual cashless treatment coverage of up to ₹10 lakh, making advanced healthcare more affordable and accessible. According to Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, the overwhelming public response reflects growing trust in the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare services across the state.

Among the most frequently availed services, chronic hemodialysis topped the list with more than 1.58 lakh dialysis sessions conducted. Other commonly performed procedures included laparoscopic gallbladder surgery, knee replacement, Cesarean and normal deliveries, hysterectomy, hip replacement, and general laparotomy. High-value treatments such as cardiac stent procedures, coronary artery bypass grafting, spinal surgeries, cataract surgeries, and orthopedic operations have also been covered under the initiative.

Beneficiaries from Sangrur, Patiala, Ludhiana, and Fazilka have shared positive experiences, highlighting how the scheme enabled them to receive timely treatment without financial stress. The Punjab Government has also announced plans to expand its network of empaneled hospitals, improve awareness, and simplify registration so more families can benefit.
