A charity collection bucket was stolen outside Anfield on Tuesday evening, sparking fury among supporters ahead of Liverpool's Champions League quarter-final second leg against Paris Saint-Germain.Fans Supporting Foodbanks, the organisation responsible for the collection, announced the theft on X, prompting widespread condemnation from the football community.The incident has been branded "deplorable" by outraged supporters, who expressed disbelief that someone would target donations intended for vulnerable people.The charity, which represents a remarkable collaboration between rival Liverpool and Everton fan groups, has been gathering food and essential supplies at Merseyside football grounds for more than a decade.Fans Supporting Foodbanks brings together the Spirit of Shankly and The Blue Union, supporters' organisations from both Merseyside clubs, in a united effort to combat food poverty across the city.The initiative operates collection points at Anfield and Hill Dickinson Stadium, channelling supplies to eight food pantries throughout Liverpool.Local residents can register with these pantries, paying a modest weekly contribution in exchange for food and household necessities.The scheme provides sustenance to approximately 2,500 individuals every week, demonstrating the remarkable impact of football supporters working together for their community.Having collected donations at matches since 2015, the organisation achieved registered charity status last year.The charity took to X to express their dismay, stating: "After over 10 years of foodbank collections at Anfield, Goodison Park and the HDS some chancer took the opportunity to steal our collection bucket this evening.
