'Learning from last years failures': SRH coach hails Nitish Reddys breakout run
Despite not firing on all cylinders, Sunrisers Hyderabad have managed to stay in the top four of the ongoing Indian Premier League, a testament to their resilience and depth. The team hasnt had the smoothest of campaigns so far. Their experienced pacers have struggled for rhythm, injury concerns have kept several overseas players out, and Travis Head is yet to truly hit his stride. Yet, across six matches, SRH have found different match-winners stepping up at crucial moments, a factor that has helped them secure three important victories. While the young bowling unit, featuring Ehsan Malinga, Sakib Hussain, Shivang Kumar, and Praful Hinge, has shown promise in patches, one name that has quietly made a significant impact is Nitish Kumar Reddy. The All-Rounder Making the DifferenceReddys contributions may not have grabbed headlines, but they have been vital to SRHs campaign. His biggest impact has come with the ball, where he has been used across phases, from the Powerplay to the death overs, often filling gaps in the bowling attack. His standout performance came in SRHs last outing against Chennai Super Kings. With the side one bowler short, the responsibility of completing the fifth bowlers quota fell on the all-rounders. Reddy rose to the occasion brilliantly, returning figures of 2 for 31 in his four overs. Bowling both early and at the death, he played a key role in defending a competitive total of 194, helping SRH seal a 10-run win. His wickets of Sanju Samson and Ayush Mhatre proved crucial in shifting momentum.Interestingly, all four of Reddys wickets this season have come from good length and back-of-length deliveries, a clear indication of his growing tactical awareness. He has conceded just 77 runs in 57 balls on those lengths, maintaining a tidy economy of 8.1, while being less effective when going too full or too short.Backed by the Team ManagementSRH assistant coach James Franklin was full of praise for the young all-rounder, highlighting his growth and maturity.''Its great to see Nitish play the way hes been playing this year. Last season, by his own admission, he didnt quite perform at the level he expected. But that became a valuable learning phase for him, Franklin said on Monday, on the eve of SRH's clash against Delhi Capitals, in Hyderabad. Franklin also pointed out improvements in Reddys bowling, from increased pace to better planning and execution. The way hes sequencing his deliveries and adapting to different batters has really stood out. His form is encouraging, but the challenge will be to maintain it through a long tournament, he added. Impactful Cameos with the BatWhile his bowling has been impressive, Reddy has also delivered crucial contributions with the bat, often under pressure. His knocks, 28 off 13 against Rajasthan Royals, 39 off 24 against Kolkata Knight Riders, and a composed 56 off 33 against Lucknow Super Giants, have all come in situations where SRH needed stability after losing wickets. Balancing the dual responsibility of rebuilding and accelerating, Reddy has scored 136 runs at an impressive strike rate of 160."He's been brilliant with the bat," Franklin noted. "We've seen the bounce back early in this year's IPL, and hopefully he can maintain that form throughout. That's the real challenge for him. He's played some real good cameos and been part of some very vital partnerships for us, particularly with Heinrich Klaasen," Franklin concluded.

Football pundit slams 'petty' and 'pathetic' FA after being hit with ground ban
Former Hearts and Hibs midfielder Michael Stewart has launched a scathing attack on the Scottish Football Association, labelling their decision to bar him from Hampden Park as "petty" and "pathetic."The 45-year-old pundit was prevented from entering Scotland's national stadium for both Scottish Cup semi-final matches over the weekend, a move he claims establishes a "dangerous precedent" for the sport.Stewart, who was scheduled to appear as part of Premier Sports' broadcasting coverage for the double-header at Mount Florida, has accused senior figures at Hampden of creating a "false narrative" surrounding the circumstances of his exclusion. The ban came in direct response to Stewart's vocal criticism of officiating standards in Scottish football, sparking a fierce row between the broadcaster and football authorities.TRENDINGStoriesVideosYour SayThe situation descended into farce on Saturday when Stewart managed to contribute to coverage of the Dunfermline versus Falkirk clash by broadcasting live from a production vehicle stationed outside the ground. However, Hampden officials subsequently extended the prohibition to include the car park itself, forcing Premier Sports to remove Stewart from their punditry lineup for the second semi-final on Sunday. The broadcaster has publicly backed their analyst, issuing a statement prior to Sunday's match that criticised the SFA and accused them of censorship.Meanwhile, the Senior Scottish Football Referees' Association threw its support behind the governing body's stance, with officials reportedly lodging complaints describing Stewart's commentary on refereeing matters as "disproportionate, agenda-driven and personal."Stewart traced the origins of the dispute to an incident at the SMiSA Stadium, where he accused officials of attempting to "cover up" their mistakes regarding an offside decision during a St Mirren versus Hibs match. He later apologised for his choice of words but maintains his underlying criticism was valid.LATEST DEVELOPMENTSAlan Shearer fears Premier League manager will lose job after worrying signsPep Guardiola faces major dilemma over Man City future after Arsenal victoryStan Moody gutted after nightmare collapse on World Snooker Championship debut"I was not trying to suggest there is a grand conspiracy here, but a mistake by the officials, and that mistake wasn't articulated to us," Stewart explained on Premier Sports' Scottish Football Social Club podcast. The pundit acknowledged he could have expressed himself more carefully but insisted officials were attempting to minimise their error. He rejected claims of prolonged complaints against him, questioning why the SFA failed to raise concerns directly with their broadcasting partners at Premier Sports if issues had persisted for over a year.Stewart expressed alarm at the broader implications of the SFA's actions, questioning what kind of country permits an institution to ban someone simply for holding a contrary opinion."There's a serious issue here and a dangerous precedent set by the SFA. They see fit to ban me for things that I've said," he stated. The former midfielder insisted he takes pride in delivering honest assessments, even when this displeases those in authority."Ultimately, I'm not here to appease them. I'm trying to be honest, and I think that's important," he added.Stewart called for proper dialogue to resolve the impasse, noting that Premier Sports had been seeking improved communication with the governing body since October."That's not how grown-ups behave," he concluded. Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter
