Arsenal prepare record-breaking new contract for Mikel Arteta after Premier League win
Arsenal are gearing up to hand Mikel Arteta a bumper new deal after the Spaniard delivered the club's first league crown in over two decades. The 44-year-old could see his earnings soar to around 26m per year, putting him on par with Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone, widely considered the best-paid manager on the planet. It's a reward for a manager who has completely transformed the north London club since arriving in December 2019.Talks over extending his contract, which runs until next summer, were paused during Arsenal's thrilling title race with Manchester City but are now set to resume.Arteta's current arrangement is understood to be worth roughly 10m annually, with an additional 5m bonus for securing Champions League qualification.Should the new terms go through, he'd actually be earning more than Pep Guardiola, who reportedly takes home 20m a year at Manchester City.It will see him become the best-paid manager in the Premier League - regardless of Guardiola's reported departure. It's quite the turnaround for a manager in his first senior role, who has now become the second-youngest boss to lift the Premier League trophy after Jos Mourinho's Chelsea triumph back in 2004.Contract discussions are expected to pick up again following next Saturday's Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.On the transfer front, Arsenal have their sights set on some exciting targets to bolster Arteta's squad.Bournemouth sensation Eli Junior Kroupi, whose goal against City helped seal the title on Tuesday, is firmly on the radar, though the Cherries could demand around 80m for the 19-year-old.The French teenager broke the record for most goals by a teenager in a debut Premier League season with his 13th strike this campaign.Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez is another name high on the wishlist, with the Argentine's versatility and proven quality at the top level making him particularly appealing. The club won't be splashing quite as much cash as last summer's 250m spree, but funds are available for marquee additions. Some players will need to move on to help balance the books, with Gabriel Jesus looking surplus to requirements despite earning 250,000 weekly with just a year left on his deal.Gabriel Martinelli could also depart if the right offer comes in, as he's no longer guaranteed a starting spot.Meanwhile, Arsenal are in discussions over a potential move for Jeremy Monga, Leicester's 16-year-old winger who made history this season as the youngest ever goalscorer in Championship football. Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter

Mad scramble underway near Vegas to save casino resort ghost town from total collapse
The family behind Primm Valley Resorts says it is working to revive the fading Nevada gambling hub after mass closure announcements sparked fears that it's about to become a ghost town.Primm has long been viewed as a more affordable alternative to Las Vegas. It offers cheaper hotel rooms and lower-stakes gambling just across the Nevada border. But Primm's last casino hotel, Primm Valley Resort & Casino, is scheduled to close on July 4. That closure would put 344 people out of work, according to Fox 5 Las Vegas.CASINO RESORTS IN NEVADA LOCATION, ONCE PACKED, BECOME GHOST TOWN AS CLOSURE NEARSCory Clemetson, president of Primm's landowner group and grandson of town city founder Ernie Primm, strongly criticized the decision."If the Primm properties go dark, so does the welcome they have provided over the decades," Clemetson said in a statement shared with Fox News Digital."It is contrary to our values to let that happen without exploring all options," he said.Clemetson added that he and his family are working "tirelessly" to explore ways to revive the Primm properties."[We are] fully understanding their iconic place in our geography, and in our hearts," he said.LAS VEGAS VISITORS SHOCKED AT 'CRAZY' COSTS, FROM $14 COFFEES TO $95 ATM FEES"Be assured that were working toward a revitalized Primm and a return to better days," Clemetson said.He also lamented the loss of jobs for "hard-working employees" and argued the operators "could have done more to make these properties successful.""The news is especially distressing to the hundreds of hard-working employees and residents who live and work in Primm," the statement read."They are now faced with the prospect of losing their jobs and, in many cases, being displaced from their homes."CASINOS BRACE AS LAS VEGAS TOURISM PLUNGES 7.5% IN SHARPEST ANNUAL VISITOR DECLINE OUTSIDE COVID PANDEMICThe closures were announced by casino operator Affinity Interactive and its principal owner, New York-based private equity firm Z Capital, which has leased and operated the Primm properties for nearly 15 years.Fox News Digital reached out to Affinity Interactive for comment. The first two casino hotels to shut down Whiskey Pete's and Buffalo Bill's Resort & Casino closed in December 2024 and scaled back to special-event operations in July 2025, respectively.Michael Green, associate professor of history at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), previously told Fox News Digital that gambling tourism dropped substantially during COVID and never fully recovered."In Nevada, we have a lot of old mining towns where, when the boom ended, or they had used up whatever precious metal they were looking for, everybody cleared out," he said.TEST YOURSELF WITH OUR LATEST LIFESTYLE QUIZ"Primm, I think, could end up being the first gambling ghost town."CLICK HERE FOR MORE LIFESTYLE STORIESPrimm has seen "a slow decline" in the past 15 to 20 years, said Amanda Belarmino, an associate professor of hospitality at UNLV.Belarmino previously told Fox News Digital that the reasons stem from developmentin both California and Las Vegas.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTERShe added, "A lot of people used to stop there just becausethey were so excited to gamble once they got over the border.
