SPORTS.YAHOO.COM4-star WR Sean Green commits to Florida State: I felt like I was at homeMore than two months after privately committing to Florida State, Sean Green is finally ready to make it public. The Kingsland (Ga.) Camden County standout announced his pledge to Mike Norvell and the Seminoles, ending a recruitment that included heavy interest from Georgia, Miami and numerous programs across the Southeast.Green, the No. 292 prospect in the Rivals Industry Ranking, actually committed to Florida State during a spring visit on April 2.Every time I went up to FSU, it just felt very welcoming and I felt like I was at home, Green told Rivals. That feeling never changed.By the time Green returned to Tallahassee for his official visit this month, the four-star receiver had already made six trips to campus and developed deep relationships throughout the program. The official visit simply confirmed what he already knew. The biggest takeaway came from spending more time around the players.Definitely, just the brotherhood was big for me this weekend. I love how they have a brotherhood. Being able to hang out with them this past weekend, I could just feel how theyre all connected and I could see how humble they are.Green felt wanted by the Florida State staffRelationships played a major role throughout the process.Green spent significant time around Norvell, wide receivers coach Tim Harris and the rest of the staff during his visits.Harris has been heavily involved, but no coach recruited him harder than Norvell.Definitely Coach Norvell, Green said. Its a tight race between Coach Norvell and Coach Harris because Coach Norvell texts me almost three times a week saying good morning, asking how Im doing and how practice went.It meant a lot to me how Norvell recruited me. He is the head coach with so much going on, so it lets me know that he wants me for real and cares about me.The connection with Harris also mattered. As both the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach, Harris showed Green exactly how he fits into the offense. That plays a big factor for me, Green said. If I go out there and do what I have to do, hes the offensive coordinator and gets to call the plays. Now Florida State adds another talented receiver to the class and continues building momentum on the recruiting trail. Jayden Miles joined the class on Monday. Green added his name on Tuesday. I have known for a long time, Green said. Since my sophomore year, FSU has been my top school.0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 38 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen

WWW.KSAT.COMSerena returns: Williams begins her comeback in doubles at Queen's ClubSerena Williams is back on a professional tennis court. The 44-year-old Williams was given a standing ovation as she walked onto the grass court at Queen's Club on Tuesday for her first-round doubles match together with 19-year-old Canadian Victoria Mboko. They were playing third-seeded duo Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Erin Routliffe in Williams' first professional match in nearly four years, after the American last week announced her return to doubles. She said at a news conference on Sunday that she has yet to decide whether to make a comeback in singles as well. Williams immediately received the loudest ovation of the day at the Andy Murray Arena, even from a crowd that had earlier watched British players Emma Raducanu and Katie Boulter secure wins in the singles tournament at the HSBC Championships. It is Williams' first appearance at Queen's Club, which is nestled among residential blocks near Hammersmith in west London. The club, which held its first championships in 1881, did not stage a women's tournament for more than 50 years before the WTA tour returned to the venue in 2025. The men's tournament, which starts next week, has long been one of the main grass-court warmup events for Wimbledon and counts Carlos Alcaraz, Andy Murray, Rafael Nadal, Pete Sampras, Boris Becker and John McEnroe among its former winners. Whatever the result in Tuesday's match, Williams' return is set to last at least one more week as she will also compete in doubles at the Berlin Open in Germany. She has yet to say whether she aims to play at Wimbledon, which starts June 29.Williams had not competed since bidding farewell at the 2022 U.S. Open. At the time, she said she didnt want to use the word retiring and instead declared that she was evolving away from tennis.Williams won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, including seven at Wimbledon, before stepping away from the game. She also added 14 Grand Slam doubles titles, including six at Wimbledon all with her older sister Venus Williams.___AP tennis: https://apnews.com/hub/tennis0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 56 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen -

WWW.GBNEWS.COMRoy Keane comes clean over Mick McCarthy feud in Saipan: 'I have no regrets'Roy Keane has opened up about the notorious Saipan controversy that saw him depart Ireland's 2002 World Cup camp, insisting his conscience remains clear nearly a quarter of a century later. The former Republic of Ireland captain addressed the infamous falling out with manager Mick McCarthy during the latest episode of Sky Bet's World Cup mini-series, Road To America, alongside Micah Richards."Given everything that had happened with Ireland over many years, there was always going to be a tipping point," Keane stated. "I could not have done anything differently and I have no regrets. Do I wish it had happened? Of course not. But if a manager calls a player out in front of an entire squad, I am going to react."Keane believes the entire episode could have been avoided had McCarthy chosen to address matters behind closed doors rather than in front of the entire squad. The Cork native pointed out that even Kevin Kilbane, who was generally seen as sympathetic to McCarthy's position, expressed surprise that the manager had not spoken to Keane in private."If Mick McCarthy had come to my room that night and said, 'What happened earlier was wrong, let's sort it out,' it would have been over immediately," Keane explained."Throughout my career, whenever somebody has reached out and tried to resolve an issue, I have always been willing to shake hands and move on."The dispute stemmed from years of accumulated frustration with what Keane perceived as substandard professionalism within the Irish setup. He recalled one particularly galling episode before a crucial World Cup qualifier against the Netherlands, when players arrived at their hotel to find inadequate catering arrangements."I specifically remember cheese sandwiches," Keane said."We were senior international footballers preparing to face one of the best teams in the world the following day, and I was expected to run 14km against a side that would dominate possession."The former Manchester United midfielder confronted McCarthy and staff about the lack of proper nutrition, emphasising that players should not have to battle for fundamental provisions like pasta before major fixtures.Keane acknowledged that departing the World Cup was devastating, particularly for his family and mother, yet maintains he would respond identically if faced with the same circumstances again. The former captain noted that conditions within the Irish setup improved markedly following the Saipan affair, with players benefiting from better travel arrangements and enhanced standards. An independent review subsequently commissioned by the Football Association of Ireland proved highly critical of both the organisation and certain management practices."That is why I reject the suggestion that I was looking for trouble or acting out of ego because I played for United," Keane stated. "The easiest thing for me would have been to ignore everything."Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 59 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen -
