Lamine Yamal needed just 10 minutes of his first start at a World Cup to get his first goal on soccer's biggest stage.The 18-year-old forward slid in at the far post to touch home a low cross and put Spain 1-0 up against Saudi Arabia in Atlanta on Sunday.Yamal missed the end of Barcelona's season with a hamstring injury and was used as a second-half substitute when Spain was held to a surprise 0-0 draw with Cape Verde in its opening match.The question of whether Yamal would start the next game was the biggest talking point ahead of the Saudi Arabia match and coach Luis de la Fuente gave Spain fans what they wanted. Rory McIlroy's US Open dreams have all but evaporated following a frustrating third round at the championship.The world number two posted a disappointing two-over-par 73, which saw him tumble down the standings to a share of 17th place heading into Sunday's final round.It's a bitter pill to swallow for the Northern Irishman, who actually showed promise on the front nine and briefly looked like he might mount a challenge.But everything fell apart after the turn, with a string of bogeys putting paid to any realistic chance of catching Wyndham Clark.The American leader now holds a commanding six-shot cushion, making McIlroy's task virtually impossible.His irons and wedges proved to be his undoing throughout the round, with McIlroy failing to find a single green in regulation across his opening five holes.The troubles were painfully evident at the third, where a wayward wedge shot found the greenside bunker and prompted some choice words from the four-time major winner."Oh just go home, Rory.
