Goal one came from a poor Dsir Dou ball and a failure to close Declan Rice down. Goal two came from Adrien Rabiot being outjumped at a corner. Goal three from the whole back line being caught napping from a France attack and goal four from more French laxity through the middle.Unsurprisingly Didier Deschamps gave his team a rocket at half time, made four changes and it was a different team in the second half, France rampaging through England almost at will. Dayot Upamecano set the tone, showing some proactivity from defence that was totally missing in the first half. His strong challenge began the move from which Michael Olise set Mbapp up to pull one back. Mbapp then turned provider, slipping Bradley Barcola to power home. Olises seventh assist of the World Cup put Mbapp through to score his 10th of the tournament and become the World Cups all-time leading scorer. Ousmane Dembl and Michael Olise then squandered chances to equalise before a clumsy Malo Gusto challenge allowed England to restore their two-goal lead from the spot. France responded again, Dembl finally showing some end product. Santiago Bartolome has been dreaming about traveling to see his beloved Argentina play in soccers World Cup since he was a little boy. But he never envisioned anything quite like this. Thanks in large part to a chance meeting with Jameis Winston, Bartolomes plan to simply drive across the country to share the World Cup experience with fellow Argentinians turned into the experience of a lifetime. Hes become a viral sensation for teaching Winston Argentinian soccer songs and for their passionate hugs following Lionel Messi goals. And it all peaked when Winston and FOX gifted Bartolome tickets to the World Cup semifinal, where he watched Argentinas remarkable comeback 2-1 win against England last Wednesday in Atlanta. "Honestly, this trip has been such a blessing," Bartolome told me. "Its been a dream come true." "That has honestly been one of the greatest blessings of this entire experience," Winston told me of his new friendship with Bartolome. "The games are incredible, but the people are what make the World Cup so special. Meeting someone like Santi reminds you that sports can break down every barrier. We may come from different countries and cultures, but joy, love and passion connect all of us." His dream, much like his plan, was actually smaller than this reality. Bartolome, a 28-year-old soccer coach who was born in La Pampa, Argentina, but grew up in Atlanta, only had tickets to Argentinas opening game against Algeria in Kansas City. He planned to drive from his Los Angeles home to Kansas City for the game and then drive to wherever Argentina played throughout the tournament. He would stay with family when he could, or in campgrounds near the host cities, just so he could watch the games with other Argentina fans. But that was before he got to the game in Kansas City and saw Winston sitting right behind him, wearing an Argentina jersey. "I turned around, and I recognized him from TV," Bartolome told me. "We connected right there. He knew some of the songs. I was really surprised. And he was all in with the culture and the environment. I just kind of explained to him what the songs were because they were in Spanish. He asked some questions about the players and the coach in Argentina. So we connected really well there. I loved it. And I thought that was going to be the end of it. "Then the video came out on FOX Sports of us singing and celebrating the goals and Messis hat trick, and it just blew up." "It was really just one of those divine encounters," Winston said of meeting Bartolome. "He came up to me with so much joy and passion for Argentina, and we connected immediately. He didnt treat me like a football player or somebody on television. He treated me like family. Once I heard his story and felt his spirit, I knew I wanted to pour back into him the same way he had poured into me." As fun as his newfound fame from the viral video was, Bartolome known as "Santi" had no idea how much it blew up. He also didnt know how much of an impact he had on Winston, the New York Giants backup quarterback who has been serving as a special FIFA World Cup correspondent for Fox Sports throughout the tournament. But he found out when he was on his way to Argentina's round-of-32 game against Cape Verde in Miami on July 3. Bartolome had already scored tickets, but on his way to the stadium he received a call from Joe Hernandez, Winstons agent, asking if hed be there. "I really thought it was the end of it," Bartolome told me. "But (Hernandez) tracked me down on social media and reached out to me and asked if I was going to the game. So we were able to meet, and I just surprised Jameis outside Miami Stadium." But the biggest surprise would come from Winston, two weeks later. Prices to the England-Argentina semifinal game in Atlanta had hit record highs, and Bartolome resigned to watching from somewhere nearby the stadium. At least until his phone rang a few hours before kickoff. "I was perfectly OK with just driving to Atlanta with all the Argentinian fans, just being in the city. I was real happy with that," he told me. "Then the morning of the game, (FOX Sports) surprised me with tickets. Jameis did the FaceTime with me, and I was just overcome with emotions. Even my family I have a lot of family in Argentina, and theyve been following this trip everybody was so happy and just brought to tears. "It was a dream come true for all of us." The whole experience has been like that for Bartolome, who ended up finding tickets to all but one group stage game throughout Argentinas run. He even managed to fulfill a promise to his father, who flew up from Argentina to join him at the quarterfinal win over Switzerland in Kansas City a game that only happened because Argentina scored three goals after the 79th minute of their round of 16 game to erase a 2-0 deficit and defeat Egypt to advance. "I watched my first World Cup with my dad in 2006, and we always told ourselves we were going to go to a World Cup game someday," Bartolome told me. "I was at the game in Atlanta where we were losing 2-0 to Egypt, and I was just in tears. Theyre losing 2-0 in the 80th minute and the dream that we talked about since I was a little kid was over. "Then they came back. I couldnt believe it." That was just one of the many unbelievable things that happened on his miraculous journey over the last month. Itll only be better for him if it ends with Argentina beating Spain to capture its second straight World Cup title at New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Bartolome is already nearby, having driven up from Atlanta, and settled into a campground in New Jersey. But barring any last-minute surprises, he wont be inside the stadium. Hell instead be somewhere watching with a large and familiar traveling party of Argentinian fans just like he planned from the start. "To start off this trip in Los Angeles and to end up in New York City, I cant believe it," he told me. "Honestly, this trip has been such a blessing. Im OK with whatever happens. I couldnt be happier." Actually, there is one more thing that could add to his happiness. Bartolome is scheduled to marry his fiance, Katie, on Feb. 27, in Argentina. And hes hoping his new friend, Winston, will be there. "The last thing Jameis and I talked about was that he was going to officiate my wedding," Bartolome told me. "He just got his license, he was telling me. I asked him if he wanted to do it, and he said Of course. "Its in Argentina, but it would be incredible." Does Winston have a soft spot for Argentina through this experience? "Oh, absolutely," Winston told me. "Santi gave me a real introduction to Argentinian culture, the passion, the pride, the the love they have for their culture. When I see that blue and white, I think about Santi and the people who welcomed me like family. So yes, Argentina definitely has a special place in my heart now."

Biaggio Ali Walsh nearly had to leave PFL Austin in a wheelchair.On Saturday, Walsh took on undefeated prospect Gamid Khizriev on the prelims of PFL Austin, and unfortunately, things were almost catastrophic for Muhammad Alis grandson. Khizriev wasted no time against the boxer-turned-MMA-fighter, scoring takedowns almost at will. Walsh did his best to defend and get back to his feet, but it wasnt long before Khizriev found his way to the back, where he locked in a body triangle. From there, Walsh tried to turn into the triangle, but Khizriev uses his legs to prevent the turn, putting Walsh into a modified twister, that forced him to tap just 2:32 seconds into the first round.After Khizriev let go of the submission, there was a scary few moments where Walsh appeared to be genuinely injured, laying on Khizrievs leg and grimacing in pain. England has concluded its 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign with an epic 6-4 win over France to claim third place. While their campaign had plenty of memorable moments, Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham led the Three Lions to the team's fourth semifinal appearance but fell short of ultimately winning its first title since 1966. When Does England Next Play? The Three Lions will return to action in September during the next FIFA international window. Two games are England's date vs. Spain at Wembley Stadium in London (Sept. 26) and vs. the Czech Republic (Sept. 29) at Fortuna Arena in Prague. Both those games are part of England's 2026-27 UEFA Nations League campaign. England will also play two more games each in October (vs. Croatia and the Czech Republic) and November (vs. Croatia and Spain) as part of the Nations League. When Does Harry Kane Next Play? WIth his World Cup campaign complete, Harry Kane will head home and report back to duty with his club, Bayern Munich. The German powerhouse club is the defending German Bundesliga champions, the German Cup (DFB Pokal) champions, and the German Super Cup champions. Kane and Bayern have several friendly matches in late July and early August before kicking off its league season on August 28 against Stuttgart. The club will also compete in the Champions League once the league phase begins later in the fall. Bayern finished as semifinalists last season. Last season, Kane had 61 goals across all competitions, with 36 coming in the Bundesliga. That made him the league's top goalscorer for the third straight season. His total goals also gave him the European Golden Shoe on the season. When Does Jude Bellingham Next Play? Jude Bellingham was one of the breakout stars of the summer and will hope to continue his form with Real Madrid. The Spanish club finished in second place behind Barcelona in the LaLiga standings while also falling short in the Copa del Rey and Supercopa competitions. It was the first season since 2020-21 that Real Madrid finished without a trophy. Bellingham and Real Madrid will have several friendly matches in late July and early August before kicking off its league season on August 22 against Espanyol. The club will also compete in the Champions League once the league phase begins later in the fall. Real Madrid also finished as Champions League quarterfinalists. Bukayo Saka left it all on the pitch in England's bronze medal final against France on Saturday, scoring a hat trick in the Three Lions' 6-4 win at Miami Stadium. Saka ends his tournament with three goals and three assists in six appearances. However, he only started two matches for England and didn't play in the semifinal against Argentina, which England lost 2-1. "I would have loved to have played more at the World Cup, but it's too late to talk about that," Saka said after the match. "I tried to do my talking on the pitch, and it's done now." Saka's lack of starts at the tournament was attributed to his fitness, but the Arsenal star downplayed those concerns ahead of his title defense with the North London club next season. "I'm fit, I'm fit," Saka said. Leading up to his first goal, Saka found Marcus Rashford, and was instantly one vs. one with France goalkeeper Mike Maignan. Although Rashford's first shot was saved, Saka helped with a second follow-up shot that was also saved. After the first two saves, Rashford set up Saka for an open shot to make it 3-0 in the 36th minute. Just before the halftime whistle, Eberechi Eze found Saka again for a flawless pass up the middle, and Saka's bottom corner shot past the keeper notched his second goal. As England barely led France 4-3 in the 87th minute, his third goal was a penalty kick. Midfielder Jude Bellingham's pass to Djed Spence in the box was stopped by France's Malo Gusto, which resulted in an England penalty awarded to Saka by Bellingham. In his first World Cup penalty, Saka's bottom right shot made for his third goal of the day. England's World Cup run saw memorable comeback wins and a strong run to the semifinals with a World Cup final just in reach. But Argentinas two late goals eliminated England from the title match. However, England had one final opportunity against France, securing third place following their win. Saka's three goals marked his first three of the tournament. The hat trick is also the second by an English player in a knockout stage match, after Geoff Hurst in their 1966 win.
