SPORTS.YAHOO.COMWhat team did LeBron James go to? Lebron James Cavs Sixers rumorsThe decision is not in yet.Despite the Heat planning a press conference to announce his signing, it doesn't appear LeBron James has committed to a new team yet. If he has, we don't know. That means every team in the NBA still has a chance. It appears in reality there are three teams in the running to sign James, the Heat, the Cavaliers and the Warriors still in the mix. The Philadelphia 76ers are starting to lose steam. Here's where things stand on Thursday.Where will LeBron James sign?Miami has a 46 percent of landing LeBron according to Kalshi on Thursday at 11:15 a.m., which is down 2 points from last night. Theyre followed by the Cavaliers, who have a 27 percent chance, which is no change from last night. Golden State has a 17 percent shot, up two from last night. Philadelphia comes in with an 8 percent chance, two less than last night. The odds mean nothing, as they change all the time with no signing. But it's fun to keep tabs, especially if one of your teams is still in the running. The Heat are a huge favorite right now, but you have to wonder how much that youtube post meant. When will LeBron James sign?It should be within a week or so, but its getting later and later.According to Kalshi, theres a 44 percent chance he signs before July 29. It rises to 46 percent before July 30, and 54 percent before July 31. It appears people dont think its coming real soon. Before July 26 has just a 19 percent chance and July 27 a 25 percent chance. He still has three months before the start of the season, but many expect the decision to be made before the end of July. How old is LeBron James?LeBron James is 41. He will turn 42 on Dec. 30.This article originally appeared on Asbury Park Press: What team did LeBron James go to? Lebron James Cavs Sixers rumors0 Comments 0 Shares 83 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMPhillies trade idea sends Justin Crawford to Blue Jays in deal that makes no sensePhillies trade idea sends Justin Crawford to Blue Jays in deal that makes no sense originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here. The Philadelphia Phillies are on the hunt for three needs this summer by the August 3 trade deadline: starting pitching, high-leverage reliever, and a right-handed hitting outfielder. It's not going to be easy finding outfield help, though the other two needs should be realistic enough. But to land an outfielder, the Phillies might need to get creative.A trade idea proposed by Mitch Bannon of The Athletic between the Phillies and the Toronto Blue Jays would certainly be creative. It would send Justin Crawford to Toronto for two players in a deal that would make no sense for the Phillies.Phillies trade idea with Blue Jays makes zero sense"Jeff Hoffman and Daulton Varsho to the Philadelphia Phillies for OF Justin Crawford (MLB)," Bannon proposed. The Phillies adding Varsho or Hoffman this summer wouldn't be the worst idea, as reuniting with Hoffman could help the bullpen out, and Varsho could be a nice outfielder as well. But trading Crawford for the two of them would be a complete mistake. Part of why this would be terrible is the massive difference in cost and control between the two sides in this deal.Hoffman, who is struggling with a 4.40 ERA this season with -0.4 bWAR for the Blue Jays, is under contract through 2027 on a three-year, $33 million deal. That's $11 million per-year, and quite a lot of money for a struggling reliever.MORE:Phillies would love to trade for Mets reliever Luke WeaverThe Phillies, already a little tight on money, would be foolish to take on all of that deal. But it only gets worse. Varsho, who is also struggling with a .678 OPS this season with 1.0 bWAR, is a rental outfielder.Trading Crawford, who is in his rookie season and under club control well into the future on cheap deals, for a rental outfielder who's struggling and an expensive, struggling reliever would not make sense at all.Not that it makes this trade idea that much worse, but Varsho is a left-handed hitter. The Phillies need a right-handed hitting outfielder, not someone like Varsho. This trade idea, sending Crawford to the Blue Jays for Varsho and Hoffman, makes no sense for the Phillies. Crawford shouldn't be traded, but if he is, it should be for a lot more than this.More MLB news:Braves injury update on Spencer Strider has execs pessimistic about a 2026 returnDodgers' Shohei Ohtani injury update essentially ends Cy Young chancesWhite Sox have strong interest in Mets Clay Holmes with scout attending rehab assignmentYankees send scouts to Cubs vs. Twins series amid trade interest in three playersMLB execs believe Padres will trade Mason Miller at trade deadline0 Comments 0 Shares 45 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMArkansas coach reached out to Kirby Smart after comments on Georgia player arrestsNew Arkansas coach Ryan Silverfield said he reached out last year to Kirby Smart after comments he made on his radio show taking shots at Georgia football player arrests circulated. On his Sept. 15 show as Memphis coach, Silverfield said he showed examples to his team of things they should avoid. The not our standard is Georgia wide receiver arrested for driving 900 miles over the speed limit, right, he said. Thats a weekly occurrence. So, thats one of those well show.Silverfield was asked about those comments and his communication with Smart on Thursday July 23 in Tampa, Fla., at SEC Media Days. When it happened, listen, Ive got the deep, most respect for Kirby Smart and the Georgia athletic department and everything that hes about, Silverfield said according to video posted by HawgSports. Obviously, hes done it at a high level so certainly a lot of respect for him. When it occurred, I reached out to him. Hes always been great to me. Even at my time at Memphis. He allowed us to come be a part of the camps. I think he knew that it was no ill will. Listen, Ive got a lot or respect for him and what theyre doing.Georgia football players' reckless driving, speeding and racing arrests or citations have made headlines in recent years. At Memphis and still doing it here at Arkansas, we talk about things that are occurring in society that we can learn from, Silverfield said Thursday. I think the best thing for an 18-to-23-year old is to learn from other 18-to-23-year olds. We constantly show examples of things that we need to avoid. Have we certainly been perfect? Heck no.Arkansas and Georgia open their SEC seasons in a Sept. 19 game in Fayetteville. This article originally appeared on Athens Banner-Herald: Arkansas coach reached out to Kirby Smart after comments on Georgia player arrests0 Comments 0 Shares 43 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMMeet the new No. 1 prospect who could transform the Mariners overnightMeet the new No. 1 prospect who could transform the Mariners overnight originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.Kade Anderson has officially reached the top of baseballs prospect rankings, earning recognition as not only the best pitching prospect in the minors but also the No. 1 overall prospect in the game. The talented left-hander continues to dominate at the Double-A level, leaving little doubt that he is ready for Major League Baseball. The only thing standing between Anderson and the big leagues is the Seattle Mariners remarkable starting rotation, one of the deepest and most talented in baseball. For most organizations, Anderson would already be taking the mound every fifth day in the majors. Scouts believe hed immediately fit into the rotation of nearly every MLB club. But with Seattle already loaded with frontline starters, the Mariners have the rare luxury of allowing their prized prospect to continue developing while they wait for the right opportunity.Andersons rapid rise has been fueled by his advanced command and mature approach on the mound. He features a polished four-pitch arsenal, consistently locating all of his offerings with precision. While each pitch has proven effective, his devastating changeup has become his signature weapon.MLBs top prospect is turning headsThe pitch has overwhelmed opposing hitters throughout the season, generating an incredible 50 percent whiff rate when batters offer at it. Even more impressive, Andersons changeup has helped him post a reverse platoon split, allowing him to dominate right-handed hitters despite being a left-handed pitcher. That rare combination of elite command, pitch movement and composure has elevated Anderson above every other prospect in baseball. His emergence is especially significant because top prospect rankings are typically dominated by elite position players. Ranking a pitcher at No. 1 overall is uncommon due to the inherent injury risk associated with young arms, making Andersons rise even more remarkable.Evaluators believe his combination of plus control, advanced command and four quality pitches gives him one of the highest floors of any pitching prospect in recent memory, while still possessing the upside to become a true ace.Seattle has built its reputation around developing elite starting pitching, and Anderson appears poised to become the next standout in that tradition. His continued success in Double-A only strengthens the belief that he is prepared for the next challenge. Now, its simply a matter of timing.Whether through injury, roster expansion or another opening in the Mariners rotation, Andersons opportunity appears inevitable. And when it arrives, the organization wont just be promoting another highly regarded prospect theyll be calling up the player many believe is the brightest young talent in all of baseball.More MLB news:Braves injury update on Spencer Strider has execspessimisticabout a 2026 returnDodgers' Shohei Ohtani injury update essentially ends Cy Young chancesWhite Sox have strong interest in MetsClay Holmes with scout attending rehab assignmentPhillieswould loveto trade for Mets reliever Luke WeaverMLB execs believe Padres will trade Mason Miller at trade deadline0 Comments 0 Shares 48 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMCubs Tarik Skubal trade rumor 'can't be ruled out' for Jed HoyerCubs Tarik Skubal trade rumor 'can't be ruled out' for Jed Hoyer originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here. The Chicago Cubs are one of the many clubs that could show interest in Tarik Skubal at the trade deadline.Still undetermined by the Detroit Tigers is whether they will make the back-to-back AL Cy Young Award winner available for trade. If the Tigers decide to sell and trade Skubal, Chicago's president of baseball operations, Jed Hoyer, should at least entertain the idea despite an anticipated high cost."The Cubs have such a glaring need at the top of their rotation that putting the odds at zero percent right now would be a miscalculation," The Athletic's Will Sammon, Patrick Mooney, and Katie Woo wrote. "Skubal to Wrigley Field cant be completely ruled out yet when the playoff probabilities are this high and the everyday lineup is so solid on both sides of the ball."Hoyer may prefer to make trades for pitchers who have at least one year of club control remaining after 2026. Meanwhile, Skubal is an impending free agent.Hoyer may target non-impending free agents"But if the price is going to be exorbitant, Jed Hoyers front office is aiming more for a starting pitcher who remains under club control beyond this season, as well as bullpen reinforcements," The Athletic trio wrote."This would also be a much different conversation internally if the Cubs were leading their division and trending toward a first-round bye in the playoffs."MORE:Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani injury update essentially ends Cy Young chancesInjuries to Cade Horton, Justin Steele, Matthew Boyd, Jameson Taillon, and Edward Cabrera are not ideal for a postseason hopeful team. All five pitchers have spent time on the IL this season, with Horton out for the year due to Tommy John Surgery.Having Skubal in the postseason rotation would be the top injury replacement maneuver the Cubs can make despite his impending free agency.More MLB news:Braves injury update on Spencer Strider has execs pessimistic about a 2026 returnWhite Sox have strong interest in Mets Clay Holmes with scout attending rehab assignmentYankees send scouts to Cubs vs. Twins series amid trade interest in three playersPhillies would love to trade for Mets reliever Luke WeaverMLB execs believe Padres will trade Mason Miller at trade deadline0 Comments 0 Shares 47 Views 0 Reviews
