Jos Buttler scripts history, surpasses Chris Gayle on all-time T20 run charts
England wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler etched his name further into the record books on Thursday, surpassing Chris Gayle to climb to second on the all-time T20 run-scoring charts during The Hundred 2026 clash between Manchester Super Giants and London Spirit at Lord's.The landmark came despite Buttler making only 16 off 11 balls, an innings that included one four and one six. Those runs were enough to move him past Gayle and underline the remarkable turnaround in fortunes after a difficult spell over the past 18 months. Buttler now has 14,572 runs from 487 T20 innings at a strike rate of 146.74. His tally includes 102 half-centuries and nine hundreds.Gayle, who held the all-time T20 run-scoring record for years before being overtaken by Kieron Pollard earlier this year, has now dropped another place to third with 14,562 runs from 455 innings. The former West Indies opener finished his career with a strike rate of 144.75, while registering 88 fifties and 22 centuries. Most runs in T20 cricket: Kieron Pollard (West Indies) 14,803 Jos Buttler (England) 14,572 Chris Gayle (West Indies) 14,562 Alex Hales (England) 14,449 David Warner (Australia) 14,284 Virat Kohli (India) 14,218 West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard continues to lead the all-time list with 14,803 runs from 663 innings at a strike rate of 151.02, having scored 70 fifties and two centuries. Buttler is now just 231 runs away from claiming the top spot. The milestone marks another chapter in Buttler's impressive return to form after enduring one of the toughest periods of his career. The England star struggled badly over the previous year and a half as runs became increasingly difficult to come by. His lean run extended to the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, where he endured a forgettable campaign, scoring only 87 runs in eight innings at an average of 10.67. However, Buttler has rediscovered his touch in 2026. Representing Gujarat Titans in the IPL, he amassed 526 runs at a strike rate of 152.46, re-establishing himself as one of the tournament's most dangerous batters. He carried that form into the international arena as well, producing a stunning unbeaten 131 off just 64 balls against India in the final T20I of the series. The knock stands as the highest individual score ever recorded against India in a men's T20I. Buttler has also built an outstanding T20I career for England. Across 160 matches, he has accumulated 4,212 runs at a strike rate of 148.93, registering 28 half-centuries and two centuries. He currently sits third on the all-time men's T20I run-scorers list, behind Pakistan's Babar Azam (4,596) and India's Rohit Sharma (4,231). 132598766 The 35-year-old is comfortably England's leading run-scorer in T20 internationals and remains the only English batter to cross both the 3,000 and 4,000-run marks in the format. Former captain Eoin Morgan is a distant second with 2,458 runs from 115 T20Is.

Stefan Bajcetic takes to Instagram with ice-cold message after long-awaited return to training
Stefan Bajcetic takes to Instagram with ice-cold message after long-awaited return to trainingStefan Bajcetic took to Instagram with a defiant message after he made his long-awaited return to Liverpool training on Thursday. The 21-year-old hasnt played for the Reds since May 2024 and didnt get a single minute on the pitch last season due to persistent injury problems, but he now seems closer than ever to finally being involved on matchday again.DOWNLOAD THE OFFICIAL EMPIRE OF THE KOP APP FOR ALL THE LATEST & BREAKING UPDATES STRAIGHT TO YOUR PHONE! ONAPPLE&GOOGLE PLAYThe Spaniard has travelled with the LFC squad for their pre-season tour to the United States, and Andoni Iraola said earlier this week that the midfielder was close to training with the group.Bajcetic returns to team trainingOn Thursday, Liverpools official website and social media channels posted images from the latest training session in Chicago, some of which showed Bajcetic being involved alongside his teammates on the grass, a significant step forward in his recovery. The youngster who recently became the father to newborn twins then took to Instagram to post some photos of himself involved in the session, along with the ice-cold caption that all of the work hes put into his rehabilitation has now paid off.Want more Empire of the Kop coverage? Add us as apreferred source on Googleto your favourites list for news you can trustBajcetic finally seems close to long-awaited comebackThe world seemed to be Bajcetics oyster when he broke into the Liverpool starting XI midway through the 2022/23 season, but the past 12 months had been a total write-off for him, with the midfielder having to overcome physical as well as psychological setbacks in his recovery. For him to be back on the training pitch with his teammates yesterday mustve felt like a moment of triumph after such a long time out of action and all the injury torment hes had to endure throughout the past year.Given how long its been since he played, the Reds coaching staff must continue to proceed cautiously with him, and we cant expect him to feature in the friendly against Sunderland on Saturday if hes only just returned to training. However, at least now there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel for Bajcetic, and the possibility of a return to playing in the foreseeable future. He still has a task on his hands to try and get back into contention for a place in the Liverpool XI, but that might yet come in time. Were thrilled to see the 21-year-old back in training and seemingly close to ending months of injury woe. Whenever it happens, his comeback will truly be a moment to savour. You can view Bajcetics Instagram post below, via stefanbajcetic:View this post on InstagramA post shared by @stefanbajcetic

I Wont Back Down Panpayak Determined To Keep Unbeaten Kickboxing Run Alive Against Anuar Cisneros At The Inner Circle 23
The Angel Warrior Panpayak Jitmuangnon has yet to taste defeat under kickboxing rules in ONE Championship, and he has every intention of keeping that pristine record intact at The Inner Circle 23 on Friday, July 24.The seven-time Muay Thai World Champion locks horns against Anuar Bad Boy Cisneros in a co-main event bantamweight kickboxing clash, just before Sam-A Gaiyanghadao and Aliff Sor Dechapan collide for the ONE Interim Strawweight Muay Thai World Title in Bangkoks decorated Lumpinee Stadium.Fight fans can gain exclusive access to the complete Asia primetime card with a subscription at live.onefc.com.View this post on InstagramAcross a storied career, the Jitmuangnon Gym and Phuket Fight Club representative has already established himself among Muay Thais best. He carried that form onto the global stage, even winning the 2022 Knockout of the Year courtesy of a head-kick finish. His move into kickboxing, however, has provided him with something entirely different: a clean slate and three straight victories, the most recent of which came against Othman The Ironside Rhouni at ONE Friday Fights 155 this past May.That result carried real significance for the 30-year-olds mindset heading into this 12th appearance on the global stage.Panpayak said:Returning to kickboxing and securing another win boosted my confidence and motivation immensely. After my recent struggles in Muay Thai, this feels like a fresh start on a path where I can perform much better.View this post on InstagramGetting his hand raised against Rhouni, however, did not leave The Angel Warrior fully satisfied. Across the three-round battle with the Moroccan, Panpayak felt like he could have displayed a more dominant performance. The veteran remains his own harshest critic, and he sees plenty of room to sharpen his game before stepping through the ropes against Cisneros. He continued:I still need to improve my footwork and diversify my striking arsenal [in kickboxing]. Since Ive been away from this rule set for a long time, there are several areas to fix.But having back-to-back fights scheduled is great for my skill development. I am fully prepared to prove myself in kickboxing.View this post on InstagramHaving identified exactly where those gaps exist, the Thai has left no stone unturned throughout fight camp, spending the bulk of his preparation at Phuket Fight Club. The gym has quickly built a reputation as one of the sports premier destinations, already home to ONE World Champions Stella Always Hungry Hemetsberger and Allycia Hellen Rodrigues.Panpayak has drawn heavily on that world-class environment to elevate his game at The Inner Circle 23:I am confident that my performance in this fight will be much better. You can see it in my training my hunger and physical condition have visibly improved. For this camp, I trained full-time in kickboxing style, enhancing my boxing techniques and footwork. This made me feel more agile and better at finding attack angles. Im ready to give it my all out there and wont disappoint anyone.View this post on InstagramPanpayaks Game Plan For VictoryThat renewed sharpness has also translated into a clear read on exactly how Panpayak Jitmuangnon believes this matchup will unfold once the bell rings.Anuar Cisneros kicked off his promotional tenure with two wins in succession before a defeat to Khundet PK Saenchai in his most recent appearance. Despite that setback, Panpayak is treating the Mexican dynamo as every bit the live threat his skill set suggests. He said:He is a dangerous opponent tall, lethal with every strike, and maintains a relentless output. I have studied Anuars fight style, and my trainer has helped build a game plan to target his weaknesses. My leg kicks should give me the edge, though he might have the advantage in punching. But well see how the fight unfolds once we start exchanging blows in the ring.View this post on InstagramFor a seven-time Muay Thai World Champion still building his legacy in a second discipline, this fight carries weight well beyond a simple result on the scorecards.Panpayak understands exactly what is at stake, both for his growing kickboxing resume and his broader standing across the promotion. As such, The Angel Warrior is ready to leave nothing in reserve as he chases the 252nd win of his career at The Inner Circle 23.He said:In this fight, I wont back down. I will look for openings to land continuous attacks. I want to finish the fight decisively and avoid a sluggish performance like last time. I cant afford to slip up.This victory is crucial. I am confident I can maintain my undefeated kickboxing record in ONE. I want to succeed on one of these paths and keep proving myself across rule sets to find what works best. I hope this route turns out to be the right answer.View this post on InstagramSource
