Sha'Carri Richardson is once again a national champion.Richardson won the womens 100 at the 2026 USA Track and Field Championships on Friday, July 24.Richardson crossed the finish line with a time of 10.77 to win. Her time equaled a season best. Kayla White ran a 10.90 to place second and Tamari Davis posted an 11.00 to take third.Running out of lane five, Richardson got a decent start. She pulled even with the field around 40 meters, surged passed the other sprinters and crossed the finish line with a comfortable victory.It feels phenomenal to be back in a better place. Healthy, physically, mentally and emotionally, Richardson told NBC Sports after the race. It shows that hard work pays off.Richardson came in with the top time in the U.S. this year (10.77). She had the fastest time (10.78) during the semifinal round but it was wind-aided.Richardson was the heavy favorite to win the womens 100 after her training partner and main U.S. rival Melissa Jefferson-Wooden decided to focus just on the womens 200 at this years U.S. championships. Jefferson-Wooden edged Richardson in the 100 at the Prefontaine Classic earlier this month.Richardson is the second woman to win three U.S. 100-meter titles since 2000. Friday marked day two of training camp for the Carolina Panthers, and it was the first time the team took the field since linebacker Nic Scourton tore his ACL Thursday. Announced by the league Friday night, former Alabama softball ace Montana Fouts has been named the 2026 AUSL Pitcher of the Year.The accolade was one-of-two honors Fouts received Friday night, named to the All-AUSL Team as well. Fouts is in the midst of a stellar 2026 season with the Utah Talons, guiding the team to the No. 1 seed in the AUSL Championship. The former Alabama ace also set four AUSL single-season records with innings pitched, strikeouts, and wins, as well as with seven complete games.So far this season, Fouts has made 11 total appearances for Utah in the circle, nine of which have been starts. According to a report from The Spokesman Review's Greg Woods, the Washington Huskies and Washington State Cougars will not play their annual Apple Cup rivalry on the hardwood.It's the first time since 1917 that the two teams won't meet in the regular season after the Huskies moved from the Pac-12 to the Big Ten following the end of the 2023-24 season; instead, the in-state rivals will play an exhibition game in Seattle at some point this fall.The Huskies currently lead the series 189-111, and have won the last three matchups against the Cougars, most recently an 81-69 victory in Pullman. WSU and UW will not play each other in men's basketball this upcoming season, per source. Wazzu wanted to play, I'm told, but instead they will play an exhibition in Seattle.Cougars and Huskies had played each other every year since 1917, one of the country's longest series. Croatia is a team that has always punched above its weight with this core, finishing second at the 2018 World Cup and third in 2022. But it could not quite match that level of success this time, going out in heartbreaking fashion in the round of 32 after a stoppage-time winner from Gonalo Ramos gave Portugal a 2-1 victory. Croatia had a poor start to the tournament, losing to England, but managed to squeak out victories against Panama and Ghana to finish second in the group. That set up a difficult round of 32 matchup against Portugal, where Croatia came close but could not get over the line. So what's next for the players who led Croatia to the last 32? The 40-year-old maestro, known as one of the greatest midfielders of all time, more likely than not played in his final World Cup. Yet again, Luka Modri was the leader in the middle of the park for Croatia. He did not start the tournament with his best performance, giving up a penalty and struggling against England, but he grew into the tournament like he always does. Modri was the composer in Croatias midfield, controlling the tempo and helping Croatia stay alive after that opening loss. He always shows up on the biggest stages for Croatia and earned his 200th cap during the tournament. He is the greatest player in Croatias history. Modri currently plays for Serie A club AC Milan. Ivan Perii is another Croatian veteran who always seems to show up for his country. Even at 37, he remained a pivotal piece of the Croatian attack on the wing. Perii was involved in one goal and two assists during this campaign, including the go-ahead goal against Portugal. When the lights shine the brightest, Perii always finds a way to make an impact for Croatia, and that was the case again in this tournament. At 37, this could also be his final World Cup. Perii currently plays for PSV Eindhoven in the Eredivisie. Dominik Livakovi, 31, has now been between the posts for Croatia in multiple international tournaments, and he was key again with several decisive saves throughout the World Cup. His clean sheet against Panama was especially important, helping Croatia squeak out a crucial 1-0 win in the group stage. Croatia needed that result after losing its opening match, and Livakovi played a major role in making sure it got over the line. Livakovi currently plays for Fenerbahe in the Turkish Sper Lig. Nikola Vlai scored the pivotal winning goal against Ghana in the 83rd minute, a goal that proved decisive in helping Croatia finish second in the group. Vlai has now been a key player for Croatia across multiple international tournaments, and once again, he provided an important moment when Croatia needed it. The midfielder currently plays for Serie A club Torino. Mateo Kovai has been one of the mainstays of this Croatia team for years. The former Real Madrid and Chelsea midfielder, now with Manchester City, has been a crucial part of Croatias midfield alongside Luka Modri. Kovai provides dynamism in midfield and has been part of Croatias golden generation through its best World Cup runs. The 32-year-old is currently at Manchester City, but reports indicate he may be on his way out after a difficult, injury-hit season with the club. Joko Gvardiol, 24, is known as one of the best defenders in the world and provided important versatility for Croatia throughout the tournament. He can play center back, left back or in a hybrid role in a back three, giving Croatia different options defensively. That flexibility made him a key piece for this Croatian team. Gvardiol currently plays for Manchester City in the Premier League.

Colorado enters the 2026 college football season with a cleaner plan at quarterback, with redshirt freshman Julian Lewis the projected starter and Utah transfer Isaac Wilson a competent backup to apply some pressure.Lewis has a ton of potential, and with Brennan Marion now running the offense, the odds of him reaching that potential significantly increase. And really just going out there and catching well, and helping these pitchers through these games and finding us ways to win the game.
