Bears head coach Ben Johnson says he has a uniquely talented quarterback in Caleb Williams."He's got it all," Johnson said of Williams. "There's really nothing he can't do. Elite arm talent, playmaking ability, escape-ability. He has his legs that he can hurt a defense with. There's just so many layers to who he is as a player. That word 'consistency' comes up over the course of a 60-minute game or more if we need it where we're getting high-level quarterback play throughout that game. You see flashes of it, and we're trying to tap into that, where we're just consistently delivering the ball where it needs to go, giving it to our guys, and then we all know that he has that ability to put on that Superman cape when the time calls for it."Johnson did acknowledge that he needs to see improvement in Williams' completion percentage. Last year Williams completed just 58.1 percent of his passes, which ranked dead last among the 32 quarterbacks who threw at least 250 passes in 2025. This year Johnson wants to see Williams complete 70 percent of his passes."He's done a great job over the spring and summer, just looking at himself, body position-wise, from an accuracy standpoint, are my feet aligned to where I want to throw the ball?" Johnson said. "The ability to see where I should go with the football, to process a little faster, that's where I'm hopeful that we see another step in terms of the processing speed."A 70 percent completion rate, which only one quarterback in the NFL (Drake Maye) achieved last season, may be an unrealistic expectation for Williams. But Johnson believes Williams is capable of doing just about anything at the quarterback position.

The Eagles can and should expect more from him whether its consistency or maturity and my guess is that was part of the calculation in the investment. Its incumbent upon Carter to understand as much. Hes still putting all the pieces together. If he stays healthy this season, he could have a breakout year. At his best, this is a guy you want in the middle of your defense. Makai Lemon seems to be ready for camp after being sidelined with a hamstring injury during spring workouts, setting up a pivotal few weeks for the first-round rookie to acclimate to Mannions system and build a rapport with Jalen Hurts. Hes the type of player who should look good in training camp, so theres reason for cautious optimism there. The Eagles need him to look good, too. Of the options at receiver around him, there isnt one that projects as cleanly into the No. 2 role behind Smith as a featured member of the passing game and possibly the third-highest target getter behind Dallas Goedert. Eagles coach Nick Sirianni has been bullish on Dontayvion Wicks since the team traded for the 25-year-old, but projecting him into the No. 2 receiver spot is, well, a projection. Smith was second on the team with 113 targets last year and Goedert had the third-highest total at 82. Wicks most prolific season was two years ago, when he had 76 targets, 39 catches, and 415 receiving yards. Even more staggering, Wicks catch rate that year was just 51.3% compared to Smiths 68.1% and Goederts 73.2%. Wicks caught 65.2% of his 46 targets last season, though, and the Eagles will be banking on that upward trend continuing. Hollywood Browns career history has more evidence of him being capable of handling heavy usage, although his numbers have been trending down some in recent years. Hes had triple-digit targets in four consecutive seasons between 2020-2023, but would probably be better suited as a horizontal/vertical stretch role player for this receiving corps rather than a true mainstay at the top of the depth chart. Even if a player doesnt earn a starting gig, hell likely play a significant role. Thats true in Philly, but I wanted to highlight the edge battle between Hunt and Smith. The trade for Greenard underscored the Eagles need at pass rusher. Smith was pivotal during the Super Bowl run of 2024, but the triceps injury suffered in the Lombardi-lifting game seemed to take some of his bite away last season. Will he return to form? Hunt flashed upside while getting more reps in 2025, and feels like a smoother fit in Vic Fangios defense. Hunt has the upside to take his game to an even higher level after leading the club with 6.5 sacks last season. The outcome of this battle could play a big role in deciding which player gets paid to stay in Philly long-term. THE PICK: Hunt. Did he already break out or is there another level for the third-year pro to hit?
