The 25-year-olds last appearance for Chelsea was in November 2024.So why have the FA agreed to end the suspension early, and does this mean the players camp have successfully overturned his ban?Photo by Ryan Pierse/Getty ImagesTo the contrary, the FA have confirmed that Mudryk has accepted that he committed the anti-doping regulations violation with which he was charged, and that hes agreed to the period of ineligibility already served.The key element that has allowed Mudryk to return to play is that changes to the rules mean that if the players offending sample was collected today, the concentration of meldonium would not have been reported and no violation would have resulted.The changes arent retroactive, so that fact alone didnt get Mudryk out of his ban. But the FA took it into account, in addition to considering other unspecified circumstances, and agreed with the World Anti-Doping Agency that the ban hed already served was sufficient.Photo by Shaun Botterill/Getty ImagesTo put it simply, the FA maintains that Mudryk committed a violation, and that hes now accepted this. But theyve agreed to reduce his ban and allow him to return to play at this point, as a result of other circumstances.Mudryk made 73 appearances for Chelsea prior to his ban, scoring 10 goals. Enzo Marescas first Manchester City starting lineup is confirmed ahead of Inter Milan friendlyManchester City will ramp up their preparations for the 2026-27 season today when they take on Inter Milan in their first preseason friendly at the Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong. Todays match is Enzo Marescas first as the manager of Manchester City. It will be interesting to see how todays match unfolds and if there are any noticeable changes to how City play under Maresca. This does seem unlikely given that Enzo Maresca has only had just under two weeks with his team. But it is worth keeping an eye out for nonetheless.Enzo Maresca has named a strong starting eleven for his first starting lineup as Manchester City manager. Marescas lineup is loaded with experienced and senior players, which should establish a firm foundation for his team to attack todays match. Rico Lewis starts at right-back and it will be interesting to see if he plays as an inverted right-back in todays match. Stephen Mfuni looks set to start at left-back and will be fascinating to see how he goes in the role.Up front, Enzo Maresca has given the nod to Savinho, Antoine Semenyo and young striker Divin Mubama. It will be interesting to see how Mubama performs in an experienced Manchester City lineup. University of Illinois edge rusher Joe Barna has switched positions this season, in order to try and help fill the pass-rushing void left by the departure of Gabe Jacas. The Big Ten sacks leader last season, Jacas went on to get selected by the New England Patriots in the second round this past April.Last week, Jacas became the final second round pick, in this year's NFL rookie class, to sign his contract. If Barna adjusts from linebacker, to a true, hand-in-the-ground defensive end, and gets home with regularity this upcoming season, he'll one day get a nice payday, like Jacas, as well.In today's NFL, there is always a big bull market for edge rushers. Of course, there is stiff competition to earn those positions as well."The only way you can get better is by being consistent, trusting the process and being determined in what you believe," Barna said in an exclusive interview with Ratings.org. "I feel like if I do that, I will get home and I will get to the quarterback.The junior from Wheaton, IL has a good first step, and moves swiftly for a man listed at 265. Illinois will be switching to a base 3-3-5 defense this season, under new coordinator Bobby Hauck, but they did often use elements of this formation, under his predecessor, Aaron Henry.One of the many knocks on Henry was his reluctance to utilize more aggressive blitz packages, or at least to do so with more regularity.Jacas might have racked up even more sacks, had Henry done so. It is expected that Hauck will employ more blitzes, and if that's the case, Barna is one of the leading people who stands to gain.Illini head coach Bret Bielema said at Big Ten Media Days that Barna projects with Pat Farrell to be the two starting defensive ends this fall, with Jacksonville State transfer Darrell Prater at the nose tackle.He also said that Prater squatted five reps at SIX HUNDRED (yes, 600!!!!) pounds this summer."I've never seen that before in a college football player," Bielema said. So keep an eye on that kid as well.However, Barna is a play-maker, and one of the best examples came in the Music City Bowl this past December. Barna had a game-changing strip sack which set up a crucial fumble recovery touchdown, which turned the tide of that postseason game.It paved the way for an Illini upset victory over #23 Tennessee, which capped off Illinois' 9-4 season in 2025.Illinois is expected to finish in the middle of the pack of the Big Ten this season, but then again, so was the 2024 team that went 10-3. UEFA has welcomed that FIFA has abandoned its plan allowing investors to acquire stakes in the World Cup but hit out hard at the governing body and its president, Gianni Infantino, again."The current FIFA leadership has not only lost UEFAs confidence but also that of many other members of the football family," a strong-worded statement on Saturday said."This is a victory for the whole game. But it must not be the end of the story. The proposal has gone. The task of rebuilding trust in FIFA has only just begun."FIFA had announced on Tuesday that it wanted to sell minority stakes in a planned company overseeing its commercial rights and tournament operations to private investors. Members who endorsed this by September 19 would receive a $20 million bonus.UUEFA said it would boycott FIFA events if the project became reality and the FIFA scheme was also rejected by Asia's AFC and the CONCACAF confederation for North and Central America and the Caribbean.That meant that FIFA and Infantino would have no majority from the 211 members and Infantino said early Saturday that the plan - which also included a September 19 deadline for members to agree and be eligible for $20 million - was now scrapped.Infantino, who has been in charge since 2016 and seeking re-election for a final term next year, is now under growing pressure to resign.UEFA spoke of a "shabby, back room, opaque deal he hatched and tried to force through" without any transparency and also questioned why $5 billion of FIFA reserves were not used for the benefit of the game."We cannot keep going on like this with secret schemes on fast track timescales, cooked up by faceless individuals and of dubious benefit to the game. We must identify those responsible and hold them to account," UEFA said."In the coming days and weeks, UEFA will work with its associations and in close cooperation with other confederations to reflect on how this happened and devise a plan to make sure that it cannot occur again. That review should be thorough and fundamental. No option should be off the table."UEFA will begin work immediately with partners and stakeholders all over the world and right across the game to propose a new way of distributing resources through the existing FIFA Forward programme."We must start to use some of that money that is sat idle in FIFAs bank account to deliver the kick start that the grassroots and the wider game need in each of the 211 countries of FIFA. But we dont need to sell off the family silver to pay for it."
