Axel Perez kicked a 21-yard field goal on the final play to push the Tulsa Oilers to a 31-28 victory over the Jacksonville Sharks in the opening game of the Indoor Football League playoffs. Boston Celtics big man Neemias Queta seems to be a bit of an NBA history buff given his personal choice of where the Portuguese center likes to play most. Speaking in a recent interview with the Portuguese outlet A Bola (translation via Google), the Lisbon native shared that he prefers to take the court against Boston's biggest rivals in their home arenas."Going to play against the (New York) Knicks at Madison Square Garden is excellent," said Queta of the reigning NBA champs. The court ruling by Judge Charlotte Sweeney granted a preliminary injunction that requires the NCAA to provide an additional year of eligibility to all athletes who graduated high school in 2022 and exhausted their eligibility during the 2025-26 academic year.The ruling aligns with the Protect College Sports Act, a bill currently on the Senate floor which proposes a 5-year eligibility window for all student-athletes. However, before this dramatically shakes up collegiate rosters during fall camp, the ruling is expected to be appealed by the NCAA per a memo issued by NCAA Chief Legal Officer Scott Bearby.After Fridays news, graduated players from across the country expressed interest in returning to college football. The Sun Belt Conference had several of its stars express interest, per On3 Sports Pete Nakos, including former James Madison inside linebacker Trent Hendrick and ULM defensive end Kevontay Wells. The NCAA cannot bar players from entering the transfer portal per Sweeneys ruling, so affected players have the option to return to their schools or transfer elsewhere.Below is a list players who graduated high school in 2022 who are NOT currently on NFL rosters. A federal judge from Colorado granted an injunction declaring that high school class of 2022 athletes were eligible for a fifth season of play, retroactively applying the NCAAs new five-year eligibility model to this cohort.Predictably, many fourth-year players are entering the transfer portal to use their additional year of eligibility, including former St. Johns guard Oziyah Sellers. On3 reported on Saturday morning that the California native will return to college basketball for one more season.A member of last years star-studded transfer class, Sellers averaged 10.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.6 assists on 42.9% shooting and 35.1% from three last season, leading the Johnnies with 53 three-pointers made.Sellers went unselected in the 2026 NBA draft and suited up for the New York Knicks in last months NBA Summer League, recording 5.8 points per game in five appearances off the bench.Unlike fellow seniors Zuby Ejiofor and Bryce Hopkins, Sellers retains his college basketball eligibility because he did not sign a standard NBA contract or a two-way deal. Florida shooting guard Denzel Aberdeen cleared a major hurdle in his bid for a fifth-year of eligibility, but he likely faces another before being permitted to take the court for the Gators this season.A Colorado court ruling Friday granted an extra year of eligibility to Aberdeen and every athlete in the 2022 class without requiring an NCAA waiver. But the class-wide preliminary injunction issued by U.S. District Court judge Charlotte Sweeney is not a final judgment, leaving Aberdeens eligibility in limbo unless the NCAA either loses an appeal or drops its legal challenge.NCAA chief legal officer Scott Bearby issued a statement Saturday that the governing body will appeal Sweeneys ruling. Bearby called the decision egregiously wrong.Aberdeen returned to Florida after spending last season at rival Kentucky, expecting to receive a waiver for a fifth season of eligibility.The 6-foot-5, 195-pound Orlando native has completed four seasons of college basketball but saw limited action as a true freshman, appearing in just 12 games of 36 games and logging 41 minutes total minutes during coach Todd Goldens first season in Gainesville. But Aberdeen, 22, and Golden have argued the NCAA should grant him a fifth year because the governing body had already been moving toward an age-based eligibility model, a change that was formally adopted in June.Under the new policy, Division I athletes now have up to five years of eligibility if they enroll in college no later than the academic year following their 19th birthday. He came back here with the goal of graduating. He already has his academic plan mapped out. So, he would graduate in his time on campus, which I think is a huge part of it, if were really focusing on the student-athlete experience and that being important.Golden also pointed to footballs previous redshirt rule, which allowed players to appear in up to four of the teams 12 regular-season games during a season and redshirt the same percentage of games Aberdeen played as a freshman.Why are those two sports not equitable in regards to their rules? Golden said. This isnt a 27-year-old trying to play his eighth year in college at his sixth different school. This is a 22-year-old within his fifth-year clock coming back to get his degree. It would be a really weird stance to try to fight him from playing.Sweeneys ruling undercuts the NCAAs plan to have the so-called five-for-five rule set to begin with athletes who enroll in college in the fall of 2027. Her decision came hours after a Tennessee court granted former Vanderbilt guard Jalen Washington and 18 other basketball players a fifth season of eligibility.Sweeney wrote that the athletes will suffer irreparable harm without the injunction.The ruling allows hundred of athletes to pursue a fifth season, potentially including undrafted players in NFL training camps who choose to return to college.The transfer portal will reopen Monday through Aug. 10 for athletes covered by the injunction.NCAA President Charlie Baker warned the ruling could create significant roster upheaval and renewed his call for congressional action.In a statement Friday, Baker urged Congress to pass the Protect College Sports Act, which would provide the NCAA with antitrust protection on eligibility issues.Todays rulings and the chaos they bring to college sports are exactly why its time to pass this bill, Baker said in a statement Friday.Aberdeen and the Gators will be watching closely. During Kentuckys 22-14 season, he lost three times to the Gators.

According to a report by The Athletics Jess Cano, Atlanta Braves first round pick AJ Gracia underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder and will miss the rest of the season. According to the report, the surgery was performed on Wednesday by Dr. Neil ElAttrache with Gracia expected to miss seven to 10 months.Gracia was selected ninth overall by the Braves out of the University of Virginia. He took an underslot deal when he signed. Gracia was ranked second on Battery Powers mid-season prospect list.Cano reported Gracias surgery based on information from anonymous sources as the team has not announced this news.

Bella, the WWE Hall of Famer, was injured in the six-person tag team match with sister Nikki and Paige against Fatal Influence during SummerSlam 2026 night one on Aug. 1.Though nothing is known definitively at this time, it appears Brie Bella was injured when Jacy Jayne did a dive on her against the steel steps on her right shoulder. Bella was holding it for the rest of the match, and even after the loss, when her and her sister turned on Paige, Bella couldnt take part in the attack.Triple H: Brie Bella injury is seriousAfter the event, Levesque confirmed Bella suffered an injury that required her to be taken to a local hospital.Dont have a clean answer on it yet.
