In late February and March, the Los Angeles Lakers started to resemble a gathering storm. After struggling to play .500 ball for much of the season, they ripped off 16 victories in 18 games and were seemingly becoming the best version of themselves. Luka Doncic led the way with a stupendous March that resulted in him winning his second Western Conference Player of the Month award.But he suffered a hamstring strain against the Oklahoma City Thunder on April 2 that would sideline him for the rest of the season. In a moment, the Lakers' faint hopes of contending for the championship were completely gone, and the Thunder ended up sweeping them out of the second round of the playoffs.Hamstring strains can be tricky to deal with, and they can linger for a long time if not properly managed. But per Dan Woike of The Athletic, Doncic said in an email to Lakers fans that he's 100% healthy."I took a real break from basketball the first few weeks after the season ended to rehab my body," Doncic wrote. "My recovery went great, and I'm 100% healthy again. Taking some time away from basketball is something I do at the start of every offseason."It's a different way to do things, but it works for me. When I let myself miss the game a little bit and try some new things, it only makes me more excited and motivated to get back to playing."On the season, Doncic averaged 33.5 points, 7.7 rebounds, 8.3 assists and 1.6 steals a game. While he didn't win the NBA MVP award, he did take home his second scoring title and reinforce the notion that, at worst, he's one of the roughly five best basketball players on the planet.The Lakers now have a completely different roster for the coming season, and unlike the one it had last season, it is one that is pretty well-suited for Doncic's style of play. It features more speed, shooting and rebounding than last season's iteration, and the superstar is reportedly "excited" about the moves the team has made this summer.A healthy Doncic is one of the biggest ceiling raisers in all of sports. Official: Real Madrid finalise 50m double deal with Premier League clubReal Madrid have had a very busy summer so far, and that had continued this week with confirmation of two more deals being done. While the wait to sign Yan Diomande and Rodri goes on, two players have departed the Bernabeu in order to link up with former head coach Alvaro Arbeloa at Premier League side Fulham.In the last couple of weeks, Fulham have stepped up plans to sign Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios. Both players have been personal requests by Arbeloa, whos been keen to continue using La Fabrica talents despite no longer being in charge at Real Madrid.Last week, an agreement was reached for Fulham to sign both Gonzalo and Palacios, and on Monday, the London club made the two deals official. Gonzalo was the first to be announced (via X), and 30 minutes later, Palacios followed suit (also via X), with both players signing five-year contracts until the summer of 2031 in Gonzalos case, Fulham have the option to extend his stay by an additional 12 months.Real Madrid receive 50m from Fulham dealsOriginally it was reported that Real Madrid would receive 70m from selling Gonzalo and 10m from Palacios, although the latter deal was later corrected 40m. Still, this allows Los Blancos to rake in another 50m from players that were not expected to feature prominently for new head coach Jose Mourinho.It is also worth noting that Real Madrid have retained a 30% sell-on clause for both players, although there has been no buy-back clause included in the negotiations with Fulham although they do have a matching rights clause for Gonzalo, meaning that they can buy him back if a deal is agreed by the Premier League side with any other club in the future.Real Madrid will certainly be keeping tabs on both players during their time at Fulham, and it cannot be ruled out that they end up back at the Bernabeu in the future.

Chris Kamara played for Leeds United and played for and managed Bradford City [PA Media]Former footballer and campaigner Chris Kamara will run the Great North Run later this year to raise money for prostate cancer research.The Middlesbrough-born footballer, who played for Leeds United and Bradford City in a 20-year career, will be running the 13.1-mile (21km) course alongside his son Jack and Good Morning Britain host Ben Shephard.Since retiring from football, Kamara, who also managed Bradford from 1995-98, has been keen to highlight how prostate cancer can particularly affect black men.According to the NHS, black men are twice as likely to be diagnosed with the disease, with about one in four in the UK expected to develop it over the course of their lives.Prostate cancer is now the most common cancer in the UK, with about 60,000 new cases diagnosed every year, and more than 12,000 deaths annually, according to the NHS.This year's event marks 45 years of the Great North Run [PA Media]Kamara said meeting those affected by prostate cancer was "heartbreaking and inspirational", but an education too.He said he was "getting the band together" as he reunited with "old mucker" Shephard for the challenge.He said: "I think the couch we used to sit on was far more comfortable than a 13.1-mile Sunday morning run in the North East, but I know we will keep each other going and if that fails, my son will drag us both along."The 65-year-old was diagnosed with apraxia of speech in 2022, a neurological motor speech disorder which affects his ability to talk, adding he also has "a few problems with my balance these days".But he insisted: "Whatever happens I'll get round."The Great North Run has been staged since 1981, and sees participants run from the heart of Newcastle to South Shields.Nearly 63,000 runners are expected at this year's event on 13 September.Listen to highlights from West Yorkshire on BBC Sounds, catch up with the latest episode of Look North.
