(AP) Seattle Seahawks tight end Eric Saubert appreciates a dry sense of humor, so it didnt take long for him to take a liking to Brian Fleury.Saubert played for San Francisco in 2024, when Fleury was the 49ers' tight ends coach. The two were reunited in February, when the Seahawks hired Fleury as their offensive coordinator.I love dry humor, sarcasm. I love that stuff, Saubert said this week at Seahawks training camp. But, overall, hes a pro in what he does. And I think hes very innovative in his approach. Overall, I just love working with him.Described by players and coaches as even-keeled and stoic, Fleury has shown an ability to command a room early in his first stint as an NFL coordinator.Hes obviously very studied, and you would assume that an offensive coordinator would know everyones roles, Saubert said. The Detroit Tigers are preparing to welcome Jackson Jobe back into their starting rotation.According to Chris McCosky, Drew Anderson will start Wednesday and transition into a rotation role, while Jobe is expected to join the Tigers during their upcoming road series against the San Francisco Giants.For a rotation recently reshaped by the trades of Tarik Skubal and Casey Mize, Jobes return could not arrive at a more important time.Jackson Jobe Nearing End of Rehab AssignmentJobe has been working his way back from the hybrid Tommy John procedure he underwent in June 2025. In his first outing with Single-A Lakeland, Jobe reached 100.2 mph twice and averaged 98.8 mph with his four-seam fastball, well above his 2025 major-league average.His workload has steadily increased since then.In his most recent rehab appearance, Jobe reportedly struck out five over four innings while reaching 99 mph. Jobe is returning from a major procedure, and the Tigers will not want to sacrifice his long-term health while attempting to replace the innings lost in the Skubal and Mize trades.Still, this is more than a late-season audition.Jobe was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft and remains one of the most talented young pitchers in the organization. Seattle is the second reigning champion to be featured on the show, 25 years after the reigning champion Baltimore Ravens were the focus.On the difference in vibes around this Seahawks teams training camp after winning the Super Bowl compared to other teams featured on the show since 2021I mean, it's been really exciting, obviously, them coming back after winning the Super Bowl. Vibes are high. Guys are excited to be back. Its given us a unique opportunity to capture some things that we wouldn't usually get to. We were out here for their ring ceremony when the guys all got their Super Bowl rings, for example. So I think just having those unique options that we haven't had before to really kick it off, piggybacking off of the success they had last year has been a really fun start so far.On what Mike MacDonald has been like so far relative to other head coaches on the showHe has been so awesome, really, from our first day here. Even our first visit with him on our first day at camp until now, he has been so great. He definitely understands what we do. He's been a fan of NFL Films. So, it's just been such a good collaboration. And he's really great at what he does. I mean, he is the first ever defensive coach to call plays in the Super Bowl and win. Hes just been really great to get to know, and I think fans will be really excited getting to know him. He's definitely the star of Episode 1, and I think we really peeled back those layers of getting to know him and who he is."On if there are different locker room dynamics now as the salary gap between stars and reserves has widenedI will say, this locker room is so close. You can tell, I think, how much they love each other, how close these teammates are. Seattle's pretty far from a lot of the rest of the U.S., so I think that probably plays a part too, that, you know, they're all out here in Seattle I think proximity makes a difference, but you can definitely tell there's no surprise by how they won a Super Bowl. I think you can tell that bond they all have. They trust each other, they put the work in. It is definitely a really close knit locker room that stood out to me within a couple days of being here.On if there are teams, players, coaches, personalities, shed like to cover in future seasonsI grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin, so I think my love for football comes from my connection to the game there. But also being in a place where football really means everything. The Packers have never done Hard Knocks. So it would be pretty special if we were able to end up there. They have a lot of unique traditions during training camp. So, if that comes to fruition in the coming years, that would be pretty awesome. We'll be sure to follow up on that.

LIV Golf members held a players-only meeting at Trump National Bedminster on Tuesday amid further speculation about the leagues future.Bryson DeChambeau, according to The Athletics Gabby Herzig, was the one leading the charge.The extended players meeting happened after a meeting between players and LIV Golf executives, including CEO Scott ONeil. Few players actually revealed what happened at either meeting today, though it sounds like there werent any definitive updates.Bryson just ran through what he knows, and obviously, were trying to do it as a group, but were individuals as well, so I think the next two to three weeks is going to be where its at, Richard Bland told The Athletic. Were in this together; were fully backing Scott. I think probably in the next two to three weeks well have a bigger picture.Were just in that kind of stage at the minute that were positive with whats going on, but we just need everything to be fully signed off so you can go forward.The status of LIV Golfs team championship event in Michigan later this month is still unknown, too. There have been rumors that the event is going to be canceled altogether, and preparations for the tournament at The Cardinal, including building basic grandstands and other infrastructure, have not yet started.Sources told The Athletic that no decision and announcement on that event, scheduled to start on Aug. 27, is expected this week.Weve been told to prepare as though its going ahead, Cameron Smith said on Tuesday. So were expecting it to happen. Im really unsure, but we had a great year there last year in Detroit, and were hoping to get back there.LIV Golfs future has been in doubt ever since Saudi Arabias Public Investment Fund announced earlier this year that it would stop backing the league after the 2026 season. The PIF has reportedly already invested more than $5 billion into LIV Golf, but the venture has struggled to gain traction and retain golfers.ONeil and LIV Golf are trying to move forward with a LIV 2.0 plan and find investors to keep the league going. They have been looking to raise up to $250 million for next season, and are reportedly already running on loans for the rest of the 2026 campaign. The organization, however, has already informed employees of potential mass layoffs and laid the groundwork for a potential U.S. bankruptcy.There have been multiple lawsuits filed against LIV Golf in recent weeks, including one that accused it of stealing the idea for the league. The Asian Tour opted to leave its deal with LIV Golf and partner back up with the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, too, something that reportedly caught ONeil and LIV Golf by surprise.There are three tournaments left in the 2026 season, starting with this weeks event in New Jersey. What happens next season and beyond is still very much in doubt.And with little clarity apparently coming out of the two meetings on Tuesday, it doesnt seem like an answer on that front is coming anytime soon, either.

The pads are on and players are getting paid across the league as NFL training camp rolls on and teams near their preseason openers. Tuesday saw several contract extensions across the NFL, with three members of the 2023 draft class setting new benchmarks at their respective positions. And with the first bit of preseason action right around the corner, the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers have each named their starting quarterbacks for Thursday's Hall of Fame Game. Here's all the news you need to know from Tuesday around the NFL. Bijan Robinson's hold-in is over. The star running back agreed to a three-year contract extension with the Atlanta Falcons worth up to $75 million on Tuesday, with $51 million guaranteed. Robinson's average annual salary of $22.25 million makes him the highest-paid running back in NFL history, moving past Philadelphia Eagles star Saquon Barkley ($20.6 million). Robinson becomes the second running back in NFL history guaranteed over $40 million, following rookie Jeremiyah Love's fully guaranteed $53 million deal. Robinson's $51 million guaranteed leads all veteran running back contracts, topping Barkley ($36 million) and Ashton Jeanty ($35.9 million). The agreement establishes a new standard for top-tier running backs as Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs continues his own hold-in while seeking an extension. As Gibbs has arguably been better than Robinson for most of their respective careers, the Falcons running back might not hold the record for the highest-paid player in the history of the position for long. The Baltimore Ravens will sign wide receiver Zay Flowers to a four-year, $140 million contract extension with $108 million guaranteed. The agreement replaces Flowers' 2027 fifth-year rookie option, which Baltimore exercised in April. The $35 million average annual value ties Flowers with Minnesota's Justin Jefferson for the fourth-highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL. Only Jaxon Smith-Njigba ($42.15 million), Ja'Marr Chase ($40.25 million), and Drake London ($35.26 million) hold higher average annual salaries. Flowers' contract places his annual salary ahead of CeeDee Lamb, DK Metcalf, Garrett Wilson, and A.J. Brown. With Flowers and New Orleans Saints star Chris Olave each getting extensions over the last week, that only sets the bar for Los Angeles Rams All-Pro Puka Nacua to receive an extremely rich deal over the offseason. Nacua is entering the final year of his rookie contract, but isn't expected to be extended before the start of the season. The extension for Flowers could also set the bar for what George Pickens might get next offseason after the Dallas Cowboys franchise tagged him this offseason. Flowers set a Ravens single-season record for a wide receiver with 1,211 receiving yards in 2025. His receiving output represented 36.9% of Baltimore's total receiving yards, trailing only Jaxon Smith-Njigba (44.1%) for the highest share in the league. Since entering the NFL in 2023, Flowers ranks third in receiving yards among his draft class with 3,128 yards, behind Nacua (4,191) and Smith-Njigba (3,551). The Chicago Bears agreed to terms with All-Pro right tackle Darnell Wright on a four-year, $116 million contract extension that includes $93 million guaranteed. The deal includes the most guaranteed money for an offensive lineman in NFL history, per NFL Network. The former first-round selection locks in his long-term future in Chicago as the highest-paid right tackle in the league. The Bears drafted Wright with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2023 draft and has started 49 out of 51 games the past three seasons. Wright earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2025. Quarterback Shedeur Sanders reportedly took all first-team reps for the Cleveland Browns during training camp Tuesday. Chicago Bears training camp is in full swing ahead of the 2026 regular season. Odeyingbo has worked hard to get right for training camp following his torn Achilles he suffered last November and made his best play of camp yet on Tuesday. Bear Report's Zack Pearson saw Odeyingbo nab an interception off quarterback Tyson Bagent. Odeyingbo has been playing inside as of late and took advantage of a batted ball to come away with a pick. Playing inside may be the best option for Odeyingbo as he works to make an impact in Year 2 of his tenure with the Bears.3. LB Devin BushWe already mentioned Bush's name for his big hit on Burden near the end of practice but the linebacker was showing out before that, too. X user @RomeOdunzeSzn captured a pass breakup by Bush where he followed Williams scrambling to get in front of a ball thrown Burden's way. Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune also observed Bush chasing down Williams in the pocket, making life stressful for the young signal caller. Biggs saw Bush get after the quarterback multiple times, something that isn't easy for traditional linebackers to do against Williams.
