Rumour Mongering: Liverpool Join Mbaye Chase
Folks have been wondering why Liverpool FC have been biding their time in the transfer market, and a clearer picture is starting to appear. Per reporting from French reporter Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport, Liverpool are interested in Paris Saint-Germains 18-year-old Sengalese winger Ibrahima Mbaye.EXCLUSIVE: Liverpool are pushing to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye. The 18-year-old is understood to be keen on the move to Anfield, with Liverpool looking to strengthen their right-wing options this summer. @RMCsportTalks with PSG are expected to begin pic.twitter.com/a86H6rfwmy Fabrice Hawkins (@FabriceHawkins) August 4, 2026Reporting says Liverpool want both Barcola and Mbaye, both victims of PSGs ridiculous wing depth. And that tracks because Barcola is primarily a left-winger, and Mbaye, also a right-footed player, has been deployed mostly on the right.Theres a reason why Liverpool have jumped in now. RB Leipzig and Bayer Leverkusen were both trying to negotiate a fee for the player, and reportedly Leverkusen were already close to agreeing one before the Reds threw their hat into the ring. This makes things fairly easier for Liverpool. Fair value is already set, the club is likely to be more attractive to the player, and they can probably pay a little more in fee if needed, and out offer the German clubs in personal terms. It looks like Leverkusen are already moving on, as they seem to be moving for former player Moussa Diaby, whos currently at Al-Ittihad, who also plays right-wing.There are also some minor things that would make Mbaye a particularly attractive signing: as hes only 18-years-old, Mbaye would eventually gain homegrown status. He would also not occupy one of the non-homegrown player slots until hes 21, by which he would have attained said HG status. If Mbaye were to join this summer he would qualify as HG from 2029/30. https://t.co/yt4CgZyzGq Jack Lusby (@LusbyJack) August 4, 2026Mbaye and Barcola could potentially transform Liverpools attack into one of the fastest in England, and thats a very exciting prospect.

Barcelona await PSG offer for 26-year-old forward as doubts over future grow
Barcelona await PSG offer for 26-year-old forward as doubts over future growAccording to SPORT, FC Barcelona are preparing for what could be a decisive week in Ferran Torres future, with growing expectations inside the club that Paris Saint-Germain will submit an official offer for the Spanish forward.Although Ferran has not directly informed the club of any desire to leave, conversations with people close to the player have led Bara to believe that a move from PSG could arrive in the coming days, possibly even before the winger returns for pre-season on August 12.Barcelona wont sell cheapThe La Liga champions have no intention of forcing Ferran out, but they are equally clear that he will only be sold if a significant offer arrives. So far, no formal negotiations have begun between the two clubs, but Barcelona are prepared for that to change quickly. If PSG want to sign the 26-year-old, they will need to meet the clubs financial expectations.Public comments raise questionsBarcelona were surprised by Ferrans recent public remarks, particularly his statement that the club must show they want me.PSG want Ferran. (Photo by David Ramos/Getty Images)Within the club, those comments have been interpreted as a sign that the player may already be leaning towards a departure.Barcelona had already informed Ferran that discussions over a new contract would not begin until September because of salary cap restrictions, following the same approach taken with other players such as Eric Garcia. The expectation was that both sporting director Deco and head coach Hansi Flick would sit down with the player after his return from holiday to discuss his future. However, there is now a feeling that PSG want to accelerate the process before those conversations take place.Barcelona ready to hold their groundDespite Ferran entering the final year of his contract, Barcelona are not willing to lower their demands. The Catalans believe the striker market is extremely limited, while Ferrans value has risen following his performances at the World Cup.If PSG fail to meet their asking price, the Blaugrana are prepared to keep the player for the entire season, even if that creates the risk of losing him on a free transfer in 2027.Barcelona believe Ferrans representatives have been in discussions with PSG for some time and that personal terms may not be an obstacle if the French champions decide to move forward.Likely to leave. (Photo by Florencia Tan Jun/Getty Images)Should the player ultimately decide against leaving, the Catalans remain willing to offer him a contract extension later this year, although the proposal would include no major salary increase. While the club value Ferrans contribution, neither the sporting department nor Hansi Flick currently view him as an untouchable player within the project.A new striker remains a priorityIf Ferran eventually departs, Barcelona are expected to reinvest in a new centre-forward.Julian Alvarez remains the clubs primary target, and Barcelona intend to pursue him until the end of the transfer window.Should that move prove impossible, the club have already identified two alternative striker profiles capable of strengthening the attack.
