Former Nebraska football quarterback Dylan Raiola opened up about some of the differences between the Huskers and his new team, the Oregon Ducks, when he spoke to the media earlier this week. Logan Brown of Ducks Wire reported on the press conference.Raiola transferred to Oregon in January, ending a two-year stint with the Huskers. He will now have to work his way back up the Ducks' depth chart, as the program boasts several talented quarterbacks on the roster.Raiola arrives at Eugene following a rough end to his sophomore season. Through nine games, he threw for 2,000 yards and 18 touchdowns before suffering a broken fibula. Then, shortly after the regular season concluded, Raiola announced he was entering the portal.The former five-star recruit left Nebraska after starting 22 consecutive games for the Huskers and helping the team reach back-to-back bowl games for the first time in over a decade. Through his 22 games, he threw for 4,819 yards and 31 touchdowns.As the season gets closer, the quarterback had time to reflect on his time in Lincoln. He certainly was not shy about his thoughts and made some strange comments about his former school. Theres not cornfields here. Theres mountains and trees and I love nature. As far as football, its different. With coaches and players, we have a lot more talent than we did at Nebraska. I dont say that to knock on them, but I think everybody will know that. Im very grateful for my time there. Learned a lot from my coaches, teammates, still have those relationships. But I think that Im really excited for what Oregons going to bring, not only to my life, but for my teammates as well."Oregon is certainly a higher caliber program than the Huskers at this juncture. In the meantime, the program will look to start over at quarterback, with Anthony Colandrea leading the charge. In retrospect, he did help stabilize the quarterback position. Louisiana footballs Fitzgerald West Jr. is cherishing every moment he has as he enters his final preseason camp of his collegiate career.The Lafayette Christian alum and 337 native used to dread the day. Mentally preparing himself for the early mornings and days filled with practices and meetings. This go-round, reporting for camp at UL is extra special for the defensive lineman, given it almost didnt happen.After entering the transfer portal, West withdrew his name making him the first player to return to the program from the portal under UL head coach Michael Desormeaux.I was honored to be allowed back because I already knew like me entering the portal I was like damn, I probably wont be coming back to UL, West said. Once you make that decision you kind of putting a stamp on yourself. But when I entered the portal coach [Michael Desormeaux] was like I understand, Im not mad at you and I was like Coach if I dont find anything, Im coming back.Coach was like Alright, this aint never been done before, but we might see. And it all ended up working out.Finishing where it all startedBefore West was welcomed back to the program as one of the expected leaders for the Cajuns on the D-line, his transfer news sent shockwaves through ULs staff.Hes a guy that to me was a leader on this team and that was one that hurt when we thought he was gonna leave, Desormeaux said of West. I just thought the value of having him back on this team was worth it. I mean its not a easy thing to man up and have to say look I made a mistake and Im trilled to have him back. I love the kid.For defensive coordinator Jim Salgado, Wests portal news brought back a bad memory for the assistant, in which he almost lost out on retaining a local prospect.I remember calling him when that whole thing went down, and I just wanted what was best for him, Salgado said. Hes a great young man, a leader in the front and a local kid right from down the road here, and Im just very thankful that it ended up working out that he came back.For West, the decision to come back is a full-circle moment. As a junior, he finished with 23 total tackles, two sacks and two tackles for losses.In 2026, West will be looking to produce more on the field while also taking up more of a leadership role on defense.Its my last year and its all or nothing so for me my mindset is just all gas, no breaks at all, West said. The 2026 White Marlin Open is nearing its midway point, as Day 3 kicks off on Wednesday. And after a busy day at the scales on Day 2, the tournament is in full swing.More than 200 boats went out on Day 2, which led to some shakeups on the leaderboard throughout the day. There are new tuna catches making up the top of that category, and it was also a busy day for mahi, as multiple qualifying dolphin catches made their way to the scales.The white marlin, blue marlin, swordfish and wahoo categories have yet to be filled, but there is still ample time for that to happen with four days left in the tournament.
