The Carolina Panthers went out of their way to add depth at offensive tackle this offseasona strategy that has already paid off.Left tackle Ikem Ekwonu is still out with the ruptured patellar tendon he sustained in the playoffs, while right tackle Taylor Moton will be sidelined for the foreseeable future as he recovers from a blood clot. Luckily, veteran Rasheed Walker is more than capable of handling the blindside, as he did in Green Bay the last three seasons, and 2026 first-round pick Monroe Freeling will be taking up the right.But where does all of this leave their depth now?Grant Gordon of NFL.com has a suggestion that could replenish Carolina's backup. He started 91 games for them over the next eight years. While he never made an AFC Pro Bowl roster, Robinson performed at a consistently respectable level during that time.After leaving Jacksonville, he spent one year in Minnesota and split the 2025 campaign between Houston and Cleveland. The Giallorossi have reportedly seen several bids turned down, with the highest being 29 million euros plus a 10 per cent resale percentage.With Feyenoord asking for in excess of 30 million euros, Roma are said to have switched their focus to Atletico Madrids Argentina international, Nahuel Molina.Of course, as previously reported, Nottingham Forest are also tracking Read. Cameron Young returns this week to the place where he changed the trajectory of his career.A year ago, he entered the Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club winless on the PGA Tour and a runner-up seven times. Questions were mounting whether he could close the deal. Four days later, he flipped the narrative in dramatic fashion, crushing the field by six strokes.He became the player we all knew he was, U.S. Presidents Cup captain and two-time Wyndham Championship winner said. We all knew he was built that way.That debut win helped Young earn a spot on the U.S. Ryder Cup team, where he was one of the lone bright spots for the Americans, and he hasnt slowed down, climbing to No. 3 in the Official World Golf Ranking this season.I had kind of righted the ship in terms of my play before that week, but I think it really showed through winning the tournament, especially by six. Since then I've continued to play some good golf, he said.Indeed, he has, going on to win twice this season, including at the Players Championship in March, and he's one of four players on Tour with multiple wins this year.Young has spent 19 weeks inside the FedEx Cup top 3 this season, tied with Matt Fitzpatrick for the second most weeks of any player this season (behind only Scottie Scheffler).Young, 29, grew up in Garrison and formerly resided in Scarborough. He goes out to the range and a few minutes later I get a text from him saying, Hey, do you mind if I hit a few of those? Of course.Hit a few wedges into Nos. 1 and 2 at Sedgefield and was like, This makes golf easier for me, Young said.We came this close to him not even hitting the ball that week but he did and he won, Pitts said.Young hit more fairways and dialed in his wedges that first week it was on the USGA's conforming ball list and he hasnt looked back. This season, he ranks 52nd in driving accuracy, finding more than 61 percent of his fairways, up from 54 percent and a rise of 115 spots from last year. He also ranks 10th in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee, up from 31st. The Double Dot made headlines earlier this season when it became known that it would conform to the proposed overall distance standard, which was expected to reduce elite driving distances by 15 yards. [The governing bodies since have postponed the rollback to 2030 and said they are renewing efforts to work with the PGA Tour and PGA of America on a policy they all can get behind.]Youngs seven runner-ups before his victory at the 2025 Wyndham was the most on the Tour without hoisting a trophy in more than 40 years. Young had to learn how to lose in order to learn how to win. It just took him longer than expected. But hes making up for lost time now, and he is a serious threat this week to become the first defending champion to repeat at Sedgefield since Sam Snead 70 years ago.It would be great to win regardless of that, Young said. Federal prosecutors want to put Terry Roziers childhood friend and alleged co-conspirator back in jail over claims he has tried to influence witnesses, including through threats. Roziers attorney says this is a desperate attempt by the government to portray the former NBA guard and his associates in a negative light.DeNiro Laster was first charged in the governments sprawling sports betting case last October. According to the indictment, Rozierwhile he was still on the Hornetsinformed Laster he would pretend to be hurt and prematurely take himself out of a March 2023 game. Laster then allegedly sold that information to multiple co-conspirators, who bet the under on multiple Rozier lines for about $100,000.Laster, who has been free on bond, has violated the conditions of his release, according to the government, which has accused him of obstructing justice and tampering with witnesses by attempting to influence their testimony and intimidating them, including through social media posts.The government must prepare for trial and should not be put in the untenable position of havingto instead direct its efforts towards constantly re-investigating a defendant on bond who isrepeatedly attempting to tamper with the judicial process, prosecutors said in a significantly redacted 13-page letter filed with the Eastern District of New York on Wednesday.The letter says that Laster has been attempting to interfere with the investigation as far back as 2024, more than a year before he was arrested. First, sometime after September 2024, Laster and other co-conspirators allegedly expressed suspicions that someone whose identity was redacted was cooperating with the government.Social media accounts belonging to Laster have made posts featuring a rat emoji, which the government explained in its filing generally refers to a person who is perceived as a snitch, informant, or someone who cooperates with law enforcement or provides information about others to the authorities.The government also has concerns about a crew called GMB that includes Laster, Rozier, and other friends. Prosecutors say that group has shown they have access to guns through photos on social media posted prior to the charges that were brought in this case. The online flaunting of gun access has contributed to the governments concerns about potential threats.Roziers attorney, David Markus, tells Front Office Sports that GMB stands for Get More Blessings. Thats the motto of Roziers nonprofit foundation, 12 Blessings, he says, which raises money to empower disadvantaged kids.The nickname started with Terrys high school basketball team, Markus says. The governments attempt to imply that it was some sort of criminal organization is absurd. Terry has never been charged with any firearms offense or with intimidating a witness, and nothing in this filing alleges that he did either. It is nothing more than a dog whistle and a desperate attempt by the government to taint Terry because it sees its case is falling apart.In this case, GMB stands for governments massive blunder, Markus adds.The government has previously expressed concern about a potential conflict of interest in the case because Rozier is paying for the legal fees of Laster, who is represented by a different attorney, Matthew Evan Corcoran.Rozier is set to go to trial on February 8, 2027 for his alleged role in the federal gambling probe. He has been charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud, conspiracy to commit money laundering, bribery in sporting contests, and honest services wire fraud conspiracy. Laster was originally charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering, each of which could carry up to 20 years in prison. Two additional charges were brought against Laster in a superseding indictment made public in May.A week ago, Roziers attorneys asked the judge to drop two counts against him, according to the docket, claiming Rozier never agreed to manipulate his performance or knew that gamblers were betting on him. Roziers lawyers cited a text thread between Laster and another gambler not to tell Rozier about the wagers.This should end the case, Roziers lawyers wrote in the filing. Over his last 49 games, weve seen star quality return: .291/.317/.487, with 10 homers and 12 steals (caught just once). Player development isnt always linear, but Merrill still has an exciting upward trajectory.Luke Weaver, RP, Pirates: Hes always had closer stuff, just a matter of being in the right place at the right time. Weaver moved at the deadline, shipping to Pittsburgh and taking those pretty ratios (1/84/0.818) with him. Weaver now takes control of the ninth inning for a contending club, making him one of the biggest fantasy winners from the past week.Max Clark, OF, Tigers: Excellent contact and pitch-judgement skills popped in the minors, along with outstanding speed (21-of-23 on steals this year) and occasional pop. Clark might not have the immediate upside of teammate and close friend Kevin McGonigle, but he could do a nifty A.J. Ewing imitation for the rest of the year. Recommended in any mixer.Ty France, 1B, Padres: This type of player has always been my jam, the late bloomer and professional hitter, someone whos commonly overlooked but productive when deployed. Frances expected stats are slightly below his current slash line, but he regularly makes hard contact on the center of the bat. Hes earned the right to bat cleanup for the Padres the rest of the way.Noah Cameron, SP, Royals: Hes found a velocity spike of late and hes also missing more bats, picking up 32 whiffs in his past 34 innings. Turning his fastball into a cutter has made a major difference, and hes also taken control of his own pitch calling, to obvious success. Cameron was useful for our mixers in the second half last year, and theres no reason why he cant pitch to a mid-3s ERA for the balance of the tear.Brandyn Garcia, Diamondbacks: The Snakes are still in the playoff hunt and the ninth inning is up for grabs, with Paul Sewald (6.28) losing control of the job. Garcias left-handedness doesnt have to be a hurdle to the closer gig, as the team is likely to focus on his 2.03 ERA and outstanding 5.14 K/BB ratio. And even if the club ultimately decides Garcia is more effective as a rover, that could lead to some wins down the stretch. Bottom line, Garcia will be pitching important (and likely wipeout) innings for a contending club, and those are the relievers we want. Bet on skills first, the roles will work themselves out.DowngradeEugenio Surez, 3B, Reds:Gene McCaffrey has long warned us about players who strike out a bunch and hit a bushel of fly balls their slumps will be legendary. Surez has declining bat speed at age 34 and a strikeout rate of 36.7% that makes him cut-worthy in most mixed leagues.Jos Altuve, 2B, Astros: Player development isnt always linear but player deterioration almost always is. Altuves average and OBP have dropped for three straight years, and his slugging is on a similar track. Hes basically done as a base stealer, too (just two bags). I decided to cut Altuve in one competitive 12-team league this week, reminding myself that our game is about the numbers, not the names. For the first full season since turning pro, Altuve, at age 36, is a below-average offensive player.Christian Yelich, OF, Brewers: Yelich was injured early in the year and its limited him to mostly DH work for the season. His modest slash line is validated by ordinary hard-hit metrics, and his bat speed has predictably declined. The Brewers have bumped Yelich down in the order and no longer view him as a must-start on a daily basis, which means we can cut the cord in 12-team pools.Andrew Abbott, SP, Reds: An ordinary 3.86 ERA over 12 starts isnt a deal breaker, but hes had trouble working deep in games and thats held him to one victory over this span. Abbott also has a modest 57 strikeouts against 33 walks over this period, a ratio that isnt good enough in mixed formats. The Cincinnati park wont hide many mistakes, either.Holding SteadyAdley Rutschman, C, Red Sox: The Red Sox have been criticized in some circles for their aggressive deadline deals, but I like the approach. Prospects can often be overrated. The American League is wide-open in 2026. Will we even have a normal season next year? Play for today. Live in the present.Rutschmans career has given me the Matt Wieters vibes for a while, and thats a bug, not a feature. Rutschman is also dinged up right now. But hes moving to a better lineup and a better hitter park. Perhaps this is a change of scenery at the right time. I'll keep an open mind.Jake McCarthy, OF, Rockies / Mickey Moniak, OF, Rockies: Perhaps Colorado should have tried harder to move these guys, a couple of journeymen outfielders who are slightly over their skis, but fantasy managers have to be thrilled McCarthy and Moniak are still doing the Misty Mountain Hop. Moniaks splits are more sensitive than McCarthys Moniaks stats have a jagged drop on the road and against lefties but so long as you work the schedule, no big deal.
