The Washington Commanders are giving Jayden Daniels some receiving help early in training camp. Two-time All-Pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs has agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $12 million with the Commanders, NFL Network reported. Diggs joins the Commanders after a one-year stint with the New England Patriots. Diggs played all 17 games for the Patriots last season and led the team with 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns. The four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver, who was a key contributor during New England's run to the Super Bowl last season, provides Daniels and the Commanders with another target out wide along with Terry McLaurin. Prior to the signing, Washington needed another receiver following the departure of Deebo Samuel, who recently rejoined the San Francisco 49ers. There was some speculation that the team could go after 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk if he became available. Beyond McLaurin, Diggs will join a wide receivers room that includes Dyami Brown, Luke McCaffrey, Treylon Burks and third-round rookie Antonio Williams. Washington is hoping to get back to its 2024 form, when the team finished 12-5 and reached the NFC Championship Game with a rookie Daniels leading an exciting offense. The Commanders had a disappointing 2025 campaign, with the team going 5-12 and Daniels dealing with a plethora of injuries. The Commanders open the season against division rivals the Philadelphia Eagles on FOX's "America's Game of the Week."

Such a balanced approach will be needed if Jaissle is to succeed in the Premier League, which is a different beast altogether, as he will soon find out.But Newcastle's new boss will certainly back himself."The best way to describe him is his mentality," said Turkey international Demiral. "Even if we were losing 2-0 or 3-0, he never lost his belief. He always believed in his players and prepared us with the same mindset in training."This is one of the main reasons why we managed to come back and win so many matches."It's a very different league, and challenge, but Newcastle will hope it's a sign of things to come.Tactical analysis - how could Jaissle play?Jaissle's predecessor Howe had similar principles in terms of building a side around physical intensity, pressing and direct attacks.The German primarily uses a high-pressing 4-4-2 when the opposition are building from the back. Even when his teams are pushed into more of a mid-block, they have shown an impressive understanding of when to step forward and transition into a high press as a collective. Howe's defensive tactics should align well with the Red Bull style of pressing, which could make it easier for the players to buy into Jaissle's methods.What Howe was criticised for towards the end of his tenure was a supposed lack of adaptability.After joining Al-Ahli, Jaissle inherited a mosaic of superstars and less experienced Saudi players - a wildly different challenge from coaching a Red Bull club with consistency and understanding in style from youth level through to the first team.While he retained his coaching principles, he recognised the need to platform players according to their individual strengths within that framework.The Premier League is constantly evolving, with coaches designing new counter-measures to tactics that appear to work from one week to the next.If Jaissle is going to succeed in the Premier League, that agility will be a vital asset.

He immediately fired at goal, but his shot was kept out by the Swansea goalkeeper.Carvalho continued to grow into the game in his return to the pitch and was played through by a Riley Owen free-kick on 19 minutes down the right side of the box. The midfielder immediately shot across his body, but his effort was blocked.The visitors enjoyed a period of momentum in the windy Jersey Road conditions and came close to scoring on 32 minutes as they found space on the left side of the box, but the shot was kept out by Julian Eyestone in goal for the Bees.Boni continued to put himself in good positions without providing the finishing touches.
