Johnson was a defensive contributor on Georgias back-to-back national title teams in 2021 and 2022. He later transferred to Kentucky for his senior campaign. Johnson went undrafted last year and signed with the Packers in April. He started one game and recorded 10 tackles with a pass breakup in 67 total defensive snaps. For the Ravens, Johnson will help bolster their depth chart at the linebacker spot. Teddye Buchanan has yet to return to on-field action as he recovers from a torn ACL and Roquan Smith is unlikely to see much if any playing time in the preseason. The rest of the group consists of Trenton Simpson, Carl Jones and Jay Higgins IV, who made the roster last year as an undrafted free agent. As a prospect, Johnson profiled as a strong run defender with good defensive instincts. His best chance to stick around long-term for the Ravens would be to stand out on special teams and carve out a role for himself there.

It wasn't by choice.Manager Will Venable made a flub when he went out to visit starting pitcher Noah Schultz not once, but twice in the first inning. MLB rules require a pitcher to be removed from a game if a manager visits him twice in the same inning.Guardians manager Stephen Vogt immediately flagged the mistake when Venable walked onto the field, leading to a conference among the umpires. Crew chief Andy Fletcher then announced the ruling:"Chicago has made a second visit to the mound. The pitcher must pitch to this batter and then the pitcher must be removed."That wasn't the end of it, though, as Vogt further pressed the umpires about why Schultz was being allowed to face Rhys Hoskins before his removal.
