Mike Gansey: Without Jaylen Brown, Sixers don't get LeBron James
Oh No He Didn't: Sixers president Mike Gansey on signing LeBron James: "Without getting Jaylen, I don't think we get LeBron. Obviously Jaylen's one of the best players in the league and to get him onto the roster with Tyrese, with VJ, with Joel, and then some of the free agents we got, obviously before all this it changed the game for us. We just said, hey, let's try to put a full court press: everyone reach out, sell him on Philly. I think if he comes he could be the missing piece and we could be really good"x.comMore on Jaylen Brown & LeBron James: Recent HoopsHype RumorsOh No He Didn't: Sixers president Mike Gansey on signing LeBron James: "Without getting Jaylen, I don't think we get LeBron. I think if he comes he could be the missing piece and we could be really good" 8/8/2026 x.comOh No He Didn't: Sixers president Mike Gansey on Joel Embiid fitting in with LBJ: "When LeBron was maybe a possibility, I went back and watched some of the Olympic tape with him and LeBron. Those two played pretty well together. We have so many different options. Any given night anyone can be the guy. So I think once we get clicking and get gelling, it's gonna be fun to watch" 8/8/2026 x.comOh No He Didn't: Sixers president Mike Gansey on what role LeBron James will have: "LeBron's a connector. That's the one thing about him. He fits every role you possibly can. He's gonna elevate everyone in the whole building." 8/8/2026 x.comThe Philadelphia 76ers are already getting accustomed to the new players on the team, as they still have some time before they hit the court together. Jaylen Brown has been active in Philadelphia over the past few days after having his introductory press conference and going out to the Eagles training camp. The next thing that Brown decided to do was hit the golf course with Tyrese Maxey and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Surprisingly, LeBron James was nowhere to be found, especially since hes been working on his golf game over the past few years. 8/7/2026 Clutch PointsVJ Edgecombe, like many basketball fans, was extremely excited to welcome LeBron James to the team. The 21-year-old had the chance to speak with James directly after the two-year, $8 million deal was announced, which he detailed during an interview at the ABCD Basketball Camp. I FaceTimed Bron. I was in disbelief, but I had to act cool. I had to act like Id been there before. Im on the phone all cool and stuff. My headphones on, Im playing the game. Had to act all cool, but its really Bron. I was really geekin I aint gone lie, Edgecombe said. 8/7/2026 New York PostHeat Central: Mario Chalmers says Michael Jordan is the GOAT and NOBODY fears LeBron: This man was 6-0 in the finals. He dominated the 90s basically. Yes Bron went to 9 straight finals but Jordan dominated a decade. Theres only been 3 teams to win a ring in the 90s. You go to Brons era, theres been 4-5. Why isnt LeBron being compared to Pippen? Nobody fears Bron. Nobody is like damn I gotta go play against Bron tonight. Nobody said that. I seen people be scared when they actually line up to him but theyre not scared thinking about that match up 8/7/2026 x.comHeat Central: Mario Chalmers on calling out LeBron for playing like a b*tch: I said stop playing like a b*tch. Everybody was complaining about a whole bunch of different sh*t that was happening on the court and nobody wanted to take ownership or accountability of it. Me being the little brother, the younger brother is always going to stand up and call out the big brothers. So, thats what I did in the moment. What happened, happened. 8/7/2026 x.comDave McMenamin: Kevin Love's agent, Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports Management, has been in touch with thePhiladelphia 76ers' front office since James picked Philadelphia, sourcestoldESPN. Though the 6-foot-10 Love and James have remained close since teaming up for four seasons with the Cavaliers and even vacationed extensively together this summer, that bond doesn't necessarily mean there will be a roster spot for the former five-time All-Star by training camp. 8/7/2026 ESPNThe Sixers are already at roster capacity aftersigning another oneof James' former teammates,Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, to their last spot. And they already have two backup centers behindJoel Embiidin 23-year-oldAdem Bonaand 24-year-oldAriel Hukporti. Philly would need to make a move to accommodate the 38-year-old Love, who averaged 6.7 points and 5.8 rebounds while shooting 37.3% from 3 off the bench for the Jazz last season. Though Love hasinterestin pairing with James to pursue a championship, he has maintained a strong relationship with Jazz coach Will Hardy, serving as a veteran voice with that young group, sourcessaid. Utah, however, also has a full roster. 8/7/2026 ESPNSam Amico: NBA GM: Hes still LeBron James, or still has moments where hell remind you he was once LeBron. But this is gonna be the chapter where we watch him and say that he stuck around too long. Someday well ask, Remember when LeBron played for Sixers? and laugh. Eddie A Johnson: Funny he saying that in his 23 season. When usually you saying that in someones 14th or 15th season. So this genius waited 8 more years to make this prediction after he averaged 24-7-7 in a first round win a few moths ago. He is wishing! 8/7/2026 x.com"Any given night, anyone can be the guy," Gansey said. "So I think sacrifice will be big for us. But Joel is arguably the best and most talented big I've ever been around. ... He's going to be a huge piece to our success. We have LeBron and Jaylen, but Joel's going to be as important as those guys. "LeBron's had a lot of usage his whole career, but last year [with] the Lakers with Luka [Doncic] out, he was the guy. Jaylen last year with [Jayson] Tatum out, he was the guy. VJ and Tyrese did a lot outside of when Joel plays or doesn't play. So everyone's been used to that for their career, but I think getting them all together, in camp, in practice, they're all going to benefit from each other." 8/6/2026 ESPNHe did not want to talk much about the trade itself, adding that maybe one day all the details will be revealed. The whole process, but to be honest, my mind is so focused on whats in front of me. To be honest, Im moving on. Maybe one day, well share the details on how everything transpired and all the moving parts that took place in this. Obviously, theres a lot of speculation. I feel no need to chime in on it because Im focused on whats in front of me. 8/6/2026 EuroHoops.netDaniel Donabedian: Jaylen Brown on his relationship with Jayson Tatum: We won a championship together. So anybody that you win a championship, you would think like that's what you know a brotherhood or a lifelong legacy wouldn't tell. Obviously, there's ups and downs in any type of relationship for sure. But on my end, it's nothing but respect. You know, besides when he plays the Sixers, I hope he does well But other than that everything for me is just based in respect. 8/6/2026 x.comNBA Courtside: Jaylen Brown on who was first to reach out to him when he got traded: Who was the first one? Im not even sure when I found out when I first got traded, I just threw my phone across the room. Who was first? It might have been Max I think Maxey reached out to me first. He reached out and said I know its a lot of stuff going on right now but we excited to have you stuff like that. Maxey and V.J was probably around the same time. We talk everyday we got group chats, multiple now and we all trying to figure this thing out. LeBron is active in the group chat so we just all trying to get on the same page. 8/6/2026 x.comAustin Krell: Jaylen Brown says he and Jayson Tatum have not really talked since the trade. Said hell always respect Tatum and wishes him well except when he plays the Sixers. 8/6/2026 x.comThis article originally appeared on Hoops Hype: Mike Gansey: Without Jaylen Brown, Sixers don't get LeBron James

    Falcons have 2 of ESPN's 10 'most-interesting' recent contracts
Atlanta Falcons head honcho Matt Ryan hasn't done much in the way of improving the team's roster this offseason. However, he has done an A+ job of retaining their best players and locking them up with long-term contract extensions. That work began with the four-year, $141 million deal the Falcons gave top wide receiver Drake London, followed by a three-year, $54 million contract for tight end Kyle Pitts. After a pause of a few weeks, Atlanta got back to business, inking starting left guard Matthew Bergeron to a four-year, $96 million extension. Finally, superstar running back Bijan Robinson re-signed on a three-year, $66.75 million deal earlier this week. Those last two deals the Falcons got done have been ranked among the top-10 most-interesting recent deals around the NFL by Seth Walder at ESPN. He ranked the Robinson deal third on his list."Ninety percent of resource-intensive transactions involving running backs are going to earn critiques from me, but I'm making an exception here (and with Gibbs below). Robinson is a true difference-maker and the best player at the position... And Robinson is only 24 years old. Running backs age quickly, but Robinson is young enough to be able to contribute to the team's next contending window, which is what truly matters. Atlanta has plenty of cap space going forward, so this is a logical way to use some of it."The Falcons also secured the final spot on the list, with Bergeron's deal coming in at No. 10. Walder is much more negative about this one compared with Robinson's deal."This number caught me off guard. Bergeron is solid, but he's not even the best guard on his team. Yet he just tiedTyler Smithfor the highest APY among NFL guards... But I can't imagine the Falcons needed to go this high to get this deal done. And if Bergeron wouldn't budge on compensation, then they should have rolled the dice and let him play out his rookie contract."Robinson and Pitts got fair-market deals from Atlanta, but you can make a case that both Bergeron and London were overpaid by just a bit. Neither contract is radically out of line with what they deserve, though. If the Falcons feel like getting one more big deal done before the season begins, they should extend safety Jessie Bates III, which could save them over $10 million in cap space, per Over the Cap.This article originally appeared on Falcons Wire: Falcons have 2 of ESPN's 10 'most-interesting' recent contracts
