SPORTS.YAHOO.COMSo Who Is Arsenal’s Plan B with Vincius Jr now off the table? So Who Is Arsenals Plan B with Vincius Jr now off the table?Arsenal knew that Vincius Jr becoming a Gunner this summer was unlikely. So while they prepared to offer the Brazilian a lucrative package, it would be a surprise if Andrea Berta had put all his eggs in that one basket. While most Gooners were expecting Vincius Jr to extend his contract at Real Madrid, their hopes had still been raised and imaginations influenced. In truth, anyone other than the 26-year-old might now feel like an anticlimax. But with the transfer window open for a few more weeks, there is still time to find the LM we need. So, with Vincius Jr now off the table, who could be Arsenals Plan B?Here are five options. In no particular orderJulian AlvarezThe media in Madrid must love Arsenal because we keep giving them headlines. After weeks of being involved in the Vincius Jr saga, we could be about to be in another one.Our manager is a long-time fan of the player because of his ability to play anywhere across the front three. That might come down to what the 26-year-old says on Monday when hes back in training.Since the La Liga season finished, Atletico Madrid have very publicly made it clear that Real Madrid and Barcelona want to sign the Argentine but are adamant they wont even negotiate with a Spanish rival. Its believed the compromise could be selling the striker if hes adamant about leaving, but anywhere other than Spain. Will that change if the player makes it clear how much the Nou Camp is his preference?Bradley BarcolaIf recent reports regarding Liverpools dialogue with PSG are true, Arsenal might come to the same conclusion. Its believed the English rivals valuation for the 23-year-old is far apart from the current asking price, believed to be 150 million. The Gunners refused to pay over the odds for Rodgers, and it would surprise me if their principles changed for a talent who still needs to work on his end product.(Photo by Lars Baron/Getty Images)Nico WilliamsThe man who assisted winners in the World Cup and Euro Finals could be the compromise. Its believed the 24-year-old has a release clause of approximately 77-85 million, which, considering what others have gone for in this market, is valuable. Its believed Mikel Arteta has been a fan of his countryman for years, but muscle injuries in the past couple of campaigns may have put our manager off justifying his current wages. He would expect to be one of the highest-paid players at the club.Does he need a season in La Liga to prove he can stay fit and stay consistent?Marcus RashfordHe might not be one of the best players in the world, but that doesnt mean you should be against finding at least competition for Martinelli and Tzolis.Especially if you can find value. Its believed Man United would take approximately 40 million for the 28-year-old, although their preference wouldnt be to help the Champions, who they are trying to catch up to.In todays market, that is a bargain for someone who got 14 goals and 11 assists at Barcelona. The whole point of his loan was to prove he could still perform at the highest level, which he did by returning with a La Liga medal. The stumbling block would be his wages. He currently earns more than anyone in our squad, and while the Gunners are willing to alter their pay structure, they wont do it for a squad player.Rashford, though, was willing to take a 15 percent salary cut to stay in Spain. He would have to do something similar to move to North London.Kenan YildizHaving failed to qualify for the Champions League, Juventus will know the backlash from their fans if they sell the jewel in their crown. The 21-year-old only extended his contract last season, so the Old Lady would only sell if the offer was silly money.Like a lot of Italian sides, finances have been tight over recent years in Turin, so there would be a figure they would accept.Arsenals issue is they have shown their cards; rivals now know they were willing to pay Real Madrid a big fee.Im not sure Andrea Berta would be as aggressive as he would have to be to make this happen.Dan SmithSo, with Vincius Jr no longer an option, who should Arsenal turn to? Would you take one of these five, or is there another player you think should be the Gunners Plan B?Let us know your choice in the comments._____________________________________________________________________________________________ADMIN COMMENTSo here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow. You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMLiverpool Starting XI vs AS Monaco: Confirmed Team News and Predicted LineupLiverpool Starting XI vs AS Monaco: Confirmed Team News and Predicted LineupVictor Munoz set for Liverpool debut against Monaco at AnfieldLiverpool are expected to give Victor Munoz his first appearance this weekend, with Monaco the opposition and Andoni Iraola edging closer to a side that actually looks like his own.Munoz arrived from Osasuna for 34.5 million before the World Cup, the first signing of the new regime. His integration has been delayed by Spains run in North America, even if he did not play a minute after suffering an injury early in the tournament. Rules are rules, he was due a three-week break, and that should have pushed his Liverpool start until after this game.Instead, he cut the holiday short. He reported for training on Wednesday and has made it clear he wants in immediately. Well, I think Im ready, Munoz said. Obviously if the coach says so after training and asks me to feature in the starting XI, Ill be there. Im keen and I cant wait to get started. [Against] Monaco, why not? That is the correct attitude. It also helps that, thanks to his lack of World Cup minutes, he should be relatively fresh. A start is possible. Ninety minutes would be another matter.Photo: IMAGOMunoz debut adds pace to Iraola planThis game matters because Liverpool still need sharpness, shape and some clarity. Iraola got a strong first-half showing against Leeds before things drifted in a 4-2 defeat. There were encouraging signs, particularly in midfield, where Trey Nyoni did enough to deserve another chance ahead of Ryan Gravenberch. The likely setup has Nyoni alongside Dominik Szoboszlai, with Florian Wirtz operating as the No 10 behind Alexander Isak. That gives Liverpool mobility, technical quality and a centre-forward who can finish. Munoz, if selected from the start, would add directness from a wide area, something this squad needs.Alisson and Van Dijk return boosts Liverpool XIAlisson Becker only resumed pre-season on Tuesday after his World Cup involvement with Brazil, though he should still get some minutes. Virgil van Dijk and Cody Gakpo are in a similar position and are expected to feature. Gakpo has been linked with Tottenham, but for now that is background noise. At the back, Liverpool may have to improvise. Jeremy Jacquet is still waiting for his debut after a knock picked up on the USA tour. If he misses out, Ifeanyi Ndukwe is on standby to partner Van Dijk. Jeremie Frimpong remains a doubt after coming off against Leeds, although the issue was described as precautionary.Liverpool team news for Monaco friendlyAlexis Mac Allister is not due back until next week following his World Cup break. Hugo Ekitike, Joe Gomez, Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley are all out injured. Wataru Endo is also a doubt.Predicted Liverpool XI, Alisson, Frimpong, Ndukwe, Van Dijk, Kerkez, Nyoni, Szoboszlai, Munoz, Wirtz, Ngumoha, Isak.Kick-off is 2.30pm BST on Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Anfield.0 Comments 0 Shares 78 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMAfter Araujo: Liverpool ‘remain in the hunt’ for midfield powerhouse; offer has already gone inAfter Araujo: Liverpool remain in the hunt for midfield powerhouse; offer has already gone inAccording to reports from France, Liverpool are in the mix to sign a Ligue 1 midfielder whos been the subject of a transfer offer from a fellow Premier League club. The Reds are set to bolster their defensive options with an impending loan move for Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujo, and sporting director Richard Hughes could potentially supply Andoni Iraola with reinforcements in the middle of the park in the final weeks of the summer.Liverpool remain in the hunt for Lamine CamaraFrench outletFoot Mercato have reported that the Merseyside giants remain in the hunt to sign Lamine Camara from AS Monaco, who come up against Liverpool in a pre-season friendly at Anfield on Sunday afternoon. However, LFC may have some catching up to do on a couple of other Premier League clubs in the race for the 22-year-old. Crystal Palace have already submitted a concrete offer for the Senegal midfielder, and Nottingham Forest are also poised to go in with a formal bid of their own.The Ligue 1 side value the player at 50m (42.8m), the same price at which they recently sold Maghnes Akliouche to Paris Saint-Germain, and Camaras representatives are meticulously examining all the options on the table with the intention of choosing the best sporting project.Want more Empire of the Kop coverage? Add us as apreferred source on Googleto your favourites list for news you can trustCamara would add much-needed steel to Liverpools midfieldThe Monaco enforcer has been tracked by Anfield chiefs for some time will they finally make a move for him in the remaining weeks of the summer transfer window? As seen below in his performance metrics from last season (via Fotmob), the 22-year-old excels in breaking up opposition attacks while also being a reliable creative presence for his team, a strong mix which marks him out as a well-rounded midfielder. One of Liverpools biggest weaknesses in recent months was the ease in which opponents glided through the middle of the park with minimal resistance, and the Senegal powerhouse who played in all four of his countrys matches at the World Cup would seem like an ideal option to remedy that shortcoming at Anfield. If FSG are serious about signing Camara, though, they may need to turbo-charge their efforts to bring him in if indeed Crystal Palace have already put through an offer for him. Also, with Iraola having plenty of quality midfield options available to him, would the 22-year-old need to be patient for his opportunity to get into the Reds starting XI, or maybe accept a backup role behind the likes of Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister?Hes an intriguing transfer target, for sure, although the clock is ticking for Liverpool if theyre fully intent on bringing him to Merseyside.0 Comments 0 Shares 220 Views 0 Reviews

Following todays match, the City squad will return to Manchester to begin ramping up their preparations for next weekends FA Community Shield clash against Arsenal at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.Manchester City will face almost the ideal test against Atletico Madrid ahead of the new season.Enzo Maresca has implemented a host of tactical tweaks during Manchester Citys first two friendlies against Inter Milan and the K-League All-Stars. The way Maresca utilises his wingers, how City build up in possession and how Marescas side press has been subtly different to Pep Guardiolas side. Facing Inter Milan and the K-League All-Stars has been the ideal setting for Maresca to implement his ideas.Todays friendly against Atletico Madrid offers a different challenge for Enzo Marescas side. Atletico Madrid are a feisty and quality side. They perfectly embody their manager Diego Simeone. In a way, todays opponent is the ideal one for Manchester City to face ahead of the 2026-27 season. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMTitans' Jeffery Simmons enjoyed Blue & White Stadium scrimmageOn Friday, the Tennessee Titans held their final practice at the current Nissan Stadium. The Blue & White Stadium Scrimmage was open to fans, and the Titans put on a show for those in attendance.Cam Ward found Carnell Tate for a sweet one-handed grab, and Will Levis created another meme for Titans fans to giggle over. The defense played well, too, and after the scrimmage ended, defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons spoke with the media about the scrimmage.#Titans DT Jeffery Simmons on tonights scrimmage #TitanUppic.twitter.com/nHIYPULxa6 104-5 The Zone (@1045TheZone) August 8, 2026"It's great, man," Simmons says. "It's the reason we play the game. To be able to come out and just put the ball down and go play football, I love it. In the past, you didn't get them type of mock games, but I think Coach said it was close to like 50 plays. It's just like a regular game; when you're going, you don't realize how many plays you actually have. And you have plays, but I liked it. I liked the scrimmage setup; we came in, and he told us, 'I'm gonna let you guys play football.' You gotta love it. To be able to compete, and I even said after we got done, 'Way to compete'. Because at the end of the day, we're trying to get each other better because we got one ultimate goal. You gotta love it. Today was fun."Simmons is the undeniable face of the Titans' organization, although Ward is working his way into that role as well. At the end of the day, football is still a game, and while winning is the goal, having fun certainly helps achieve that goal. Players who enjoy what they are doing always perform better in a game. Allowing the players to play football against each other first is a great way to get them ready for their joint practice and preseason opener against the San Francisco 49ers next week. This article originally appeared on Titans Wire: Titans' Jeffery Simmons enjoyed Blue & White Stadium scrimmage0 Comments 0 Shares 220 Views 0 Reviews
