Garrett had 23 sacks last season, which was 6.5 more than the next player (Brian Burns 16.5). In 2023 and 2024, Garrett had 14 sacks, and in 2021 and 2022, he had 16 sacks. Surprisingly, Garrett has only led the NFL in sacks just once (in 2025). Josh Sweats name has been twisting in the trade-rumor breeze for months now, but the Arizona Cardinals appear to be shutting down any talk of trading their star pass rusher for now.Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort spoke with the media on Monday, and he was asked about Sweats situation. We have no interest in trading Josh. Some of those discussions we will keep private. We are excited to have Josh here." Darren Urban (@Cardschatter) August 10, 2026First things first: Thats a pretty firm denial by Ossenfort. You cant say it much more clearly than We have no interest in trading Josh. That falls in line with what NFL Medias Ian Rapoport reported back in June, firmly indicating Arizona had no plans to deal Sweat at that time.But its never been confirmed that Sweat had officially requested a trade from the team, only media and fan speculation previously. Ossenfort didnt try to deny that part Monday, nor did he deny teams calling him this offseason to check on Sweats availability this offseason. Our belief: Its fair to reason that both happened, otherwise Ossenfort almost certainly would have challenged the phrasing of the question.Whats happening with Josh Sweat nowSweat, who recently turned 29, is currently on the active/PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list with a knee issue. Its reportedly a chronic issue dating back to college, but no one seems worried about it. Sweat skipped voluntary workouts this summer but attended the teams mandatory minicamp.Ossenfort said that Sweat is making good progress with the injury, getting closer every day and will be back in due time. Head coach Mike LaFleur has also downplayed it, saying he expects Sweat to be available Week 1 against the Chargers in L.A.But if the trade request did happen, it might be an indication that Sweat is regretting the four-year, $76.4 million deal he signed with Arizona one year ago. He was terrific in his first season with the Cardinals, notching 12 sacks and four forced fumbles. But his impact couldnt prevent the teams defense ranking as a bottom-10 unit overall, which led to the ouster of Jonathan Gannon. Scary to think what that defense would have been without him.Sweat reportedly was very close with Gannon, which might have been a big reason why he signed in Arizona and potentially a big reason why he might be unhappy with his situation. Could the Cardinals change their stance?The Cardinals have plenty to figure out in LaFleurs first season. On the one hand, no coach wants to trade away one of his best players. But on the other, if the Cardinals stumble out of the gates this season and they have an absolute whopper of a schedule then Ossenfort might have no choice but to rethink his no-trade stance.There would be no shortage of suitors. The Cowboys, still seeking defensive firepower, have hinted they could be open for another big swing of the bat. But theyre hardly the only ones.Gannon, now coaching in Green Bay, surely would love to reunite with his former player. Would LesFleurs come together to make this deal happen? (Brothers Mike and Matt will have a chance to talk in person when the Packers and Cardinals play in the preseason Aug. 29.) A Sweat-Micah Parsons pairing could be too good for the Packers to resist if the price is right.Beyond that, the Bears, Patriots, Chiefs, Bills and Eagles the team that drafted Sweat could all make sense, too. Pass rushers are always a premium target in the NFL, any time of the year.On top of that, Sweats deal could be viewed as a relative bargain. Hes at or near the peak of his career, and his $19.1 APY salary now ranks outside the top 20 at edge rusher. With the recent big-money extensions signed at the position, Sweat counts less than half against the cap as Will Anderson Jr., Parsons, Aidan Hutchinson, T.J. Watt and Myles Garrett do for their respective teams.But again, with the Cards closing the door on any trade for now, those Sweat dreams must be deferred. Well see how long the Cardinals stick to their guns on this one.

Simpson and Buchanan share an or designation, although Buchanan remains on the PUP list while recovering from a torn ACL. Dominic DeLuca and Jamon Johnson follow them.Simpson has a clear opportunity to establish himself next to Smith while Buchanan continues his rehabilitation. The depth chart, however, suggests Baltimore still views Buchanan as part of that competition once he's healthy.T.J. Tampa positioned for important reserve roleMarlon Humphrey and Nate Wiggins are listed as Baltimore's starting outside cornerbacks. Tampa is directly behind Humphrey, while Chidobe Awuzie is listed behind Wiggins.That doesn't mean Awuzie is viewed as a traditional backup. Baltimore will use multiple cornerbacks and defensive backs in nickel and dime personnel. Awuzie's experience should keep him involved in the defense.Tampa's placement confirms his strong training camp. Marquise Robinson and Robert Longerbeam follow him, while Amani Oruwariye, Bilhal Kone and Lardarius Webb Jr. are on the other side.Kyle Hamilton retains hybrid designation.Hamilton is listed as a defensive back rather than a strong or free safety, which fits the versatile role Baltimore expects him to play.Keyon Martin and rookie Chandler Rivers are behind him. It was offensive line day at Colorado football fall camp with all three offensive line coaches and two players talking to the media after Monday's practice.Lead offensive line coach Gunnar White discussed how all five starting jobs are up for grabs and how he is toying with the idea of an o-line rotation. Assistant offensive line coach Andre Gurode brought up the center competition, one of the biggest position battles across the roster."The competition is very steep," Gurode said. "It's very aggressive. You've got to prove it every single day."The center position might have seemed like Demetrius Hunter's job to lose, but all three coaches repeatedly said that it is a competition between Hunter, Yahya Attia and Sean Kinney.Colorado OL coach Andre Gurode on the Center competition:"The competition Is very steep. We do believe weve got that guy in the room but its time for that guy to show up and stay up."Based on everything said Monday morning, Hunter and Kinney seem to be neck and neck in the competition. Both players transferred into Colorado this offseason with extensive experience at the position.Kinney started all 12 games last year at center for Lafayette, allowing zero sacks. DiJonai Carrington of the Chicago Sky says she never claimed that the assessment of a Flagrant 2 foul on her on Saturday in a game against Indiana was the result of white privilege.Carrington came from behind and hit the Fever's Sophie Cunningham in the head and neck on a fast-break layup, knocking her to the court as the shot went in. The play was reviewed and upgraded to a Flagrant 2 after the referee said there was windup, impact and follow-through on the foul.Carrington is Black and Cunningham is white. After Carrington was ejected, she posted WHITE PRIVILEGE on social media and tagged the Fever.Responding to a clip of former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho criticizing her reaction, Carrington posted on X that she never once claimed that the assessment of the foul was white privilege.Try exercising your critical thinking skills, I know you studied psych.
