Jumbo Package: Ryan Grubb still wont name Alabamas QB
TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA - APRIL 12: Offensive Coordinator Ryan Grubb talks with other coaches during the Alabama Spring Game at Bryant Denny Stadium on April 12, 2025 in Birmingham, Alabama. (Photo by Butch Dill/Getty Images) | Getty ImagesWe got a new presser from Ryan Grubb:Speaking about the QBs, I did like how Grubb put this answer:Grubb made it clear that both quarterbacks have the physical tools necessary to win the job.Certainly you cant just have the rah-rah guy if he cant throw the freaking ball, Grubb said.Instead, Alabama will begin weighing several measurable factors as the competition progresses. Both are capable physically of making all the plays, Grubb said. Now youre starting to look at decision-making, completion percentages, turnovers, explosives, how all those things obviously weigh out. Those statistics will matter, but Grubb also pointed to something that is much more difficult to measure.Does the quarterback look like he believes he is going to make the play? And then also just does it look like that guy believes Im going to make that play, Grubb said. And both those guys are getting better at that every day.I like that he makes sure to point out that throwing the ball is a very important part of playing QB and one that doesnt get talked enough about sometimes. You can have a great leader and an amazing processor, but if you cant throw on target, it doesnt matter. Grubb also talked a little about AK Dear having made some real strides in pass protection. He specifically said that was why we didnt see much of Dear last year, so hearing that hes made some real improvement there is exciting. EJ Crowell, RB, AlabamaCrimson Tide offensive coordinator Ryan Grubbs plan to resurrect Alabamas run game will include this five-star freshman ballcarrier, who turned heads during the teams first day in pads last week. He joins a crowded competition for snaps with Daniel Hill, AK Dear and Kevin Riley. Grubb has repeatedly pushed to go hard on every rep and complimented Crowells explosiveness and physicality. After Alabama ranked 126th nationally last season after averaging 3.4 yards per carry, this offense needs production. Crowell arrived in Tuscaloosa with a college-ready frame and has quickly shown why he was one of the cycles most coveted ball-carriers.Im really fascinated to see how the running back rotation winds up shaking out this year. Hill and Riley both started games last year and Hill seems to be the leader of the pack. But Dear brings some speed and talent, and Crowell is a top-ten level prospect, so both have plenty of hype and expectations. But TraeShawn Brown shouldnt be ignored either. The freshman caught the eyes of many this past spring, and Grubb mentioned him as TB saying he made a great play at the start of his press conference. Five guys cant exactly all get snaps, so I cant wait to see how it goes in week 1. No. 13: Jackson Lloyd, Alabama, OTThe former five-star recruit got into five games as a freshman last year and is now the Tides projected starter at left tackle. Lloyd, who also excelled at baseball and basketball as a high schooler in Northern California, is an intriguing talent and is still just 19. Hes 6-7 and 317 pounds with just 18 percent body fat, and he has already bench pressed 505 pounds and squatted 760. He has power cleaned 365, vertical jumped 33 inches and broad jumped 9-6.Bruce Feldmans annual Freaks list is one of the longstanding offseason pieces in college football, and its always great seeing your guys on it. Its not necessarily the best players, but the ones that are just crazy athletes. See #1 on the list, South Carolina receiver Nyck Harbor. For Alabama, Jackson Lloyd checks in at #13 in the country as a guy with exceptional size and a multi-sport background. I think hes a player who, if he lives up to the potential, could be the biggest addition to Alabamas starting line up this season compared to prior years. Past Lloyd, Alabama also landed Daniel Hill at #23, Ryan Coleman-Williams at #38, and Bray Hubbard at #54. -Caleb Woodson and QB Reese seemed to be the first two linebackers up in a linebacker drill. The drill asked the defender to carry an inside receiver vertically up the field, so nothing too crazy. It does show off the players fluidity and ability to turn and run though. First-year linebacker Xavier Griffin is likely going to make a name for himself as a pass rusher, but theres a reason hes been compared to former Alabama standout Jihaad Campbell so much. Campbell brought elite edge traits, but he was also fantastic handling the off-ball responsibilities, including playing sideline-to-sideline and being a plus cover defender. Griffin brings the same traits. Hes got future first-rounder written all over him.Im still holding out some love for Luke Metz (and I bet he gets plenty of snaps this year), but its seeming more and more like QB Reese continues to be the leader for playing next to Woodson at linebacker.

From A Shy Kid To An Undefeated MMA Phenom: The Inspiring Rise Of Magdalena Czaban
Long before she was finishing opponents inside the cage, Magdalena The Powerpuff Girl Czaban was a shy little girl in Krakow, Poland, who simply needed a gentle nudge out of her shell. That nudge ultimately came in the form of sports, and it completely changed the entire trajectory of her life. The 26-year-old rising star now stands at a flawless 4-0, with every single one of her professional victories coming by way of an early finish. On Friday, August 14, she makes her highly anticipated ONE Championship debut against American veteran Natalie Salcedo in an atomweight MMA showcase at ONE Fight Night 46 on Prime Video. The blockbuster event broadcasts live in U.S. primetime from the iconic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand. Before she steps into the ring for the very first time, here is everything you need to know about the CTRL Fight standout from her active childhood in southern Poland to the deeply personal battles that successfully shaped her into the martial artist she is today.A Shy Kid Who Found Her Voice Through SportView this post on InstagramCzaban was born and raised in Krakow, a historic city in southern Poland renowned for its stunning architecture, vibrant arts, and rich culture. She grew up alongside her mother, father, and younger brother in a busy household where sitting still was never really an option. As a child, Czaban was naturally reserved, and her parents recognized early on that structured physical activity might help draw her out of her profound shyness. What began as a well-meaning attempt to build her confidence blossomed into a family lifestyle built almost entirely around constant movement, adventure, and the great outdoors. Weekends and summers were rarely spent indoors. She explained:My childhood was always centered around sports. When I was little, I was a very shy child, so my parents started signing me up for different extracurricular activities (mostly sports) to help me come out of my shell. We were a very active family, and we spent most of our free time on different trips and outdoor adventures. My parents taught me all kinds of things: in the summer we would ride bikes, rollerblade, and go hiking in the mountains, and in the winter we would go skiing.View this post on InstagramThat incredible foundation of support never once wavered as she grew older. Even as her parents worked highly demanding jobs to provide for the family, they made a consistent, loving effort to prioritize time together, and her younger brother became just as invested in her athletic journey as her mother and father were.Looking back now, Czaban considers herself incredibly fortunate to have had that kind of unconditional backing throughout her formative years a reliable support system that stood strong no matter what path she chose to pursue. She continued:My family has always supported me in everything I do. Besides my parents, my younger brother has also been with me throughout this journey, and just like my parents, he has always supported me.I think I had a wonderful childhood and a great time growing up. I could always count on my parents, and even though they worked very hard, they always made sure to spend as much time as possible with me and my younger brother, doing activities together as a family. Her Martial Arts JourneyView this post on InstagramBefore she ever set foot in a combat sports gym, Czabans athletic path ran heavily through track and field, where she competed and trained for years. Martial arts, in fact, was never a part of her original plan at all.Everything changed at the age of 16, when a group of close friends decided they wanted to try mixed martial arts and simply asked Czaban to come along for the company. She had no particular attachment to the sport walking through the door that first day, and there was absolutely no grand vision behind it. It was simply a casual decision to join her friends for a new experience, and nothing more. She recalled:I started training because my friends wanted to try MMA, and I went along with them for company. I was 16 at the time. The first gym I joined offered MMA classes, so thats where I started. As time went on, I also began training striking and grappling. I spent many years training in one place, but over time the environment started to change. I trained at different gyms, but I stayed with the same coaches and many of the same people I had started this journey with.Dark Period That Taught Her She Wasnt InvincibleView this post on InstagramBehind Czabans pristine record and spectacular highlight-reel finishes lies a period of her life that tested her far more than any opponent ever has. Long before the bonuses and sponsorships that come with being a top-tier prospect, her early years in the sport were defined by severe financial hardship rather than international glory. At 18, she made the difficult decision to move out of her family home, fiercely determined not to place any additional financial strain on her parents while she boldly pursued a career that, in its amateur and early professional stages, offered almost no real income.Injuries piled up along the grueling way some minor and some far more serious but absolutely nothing tested her the way one particular chapter did. In 2021, ahead of the IMMAF European Championships, Czaban found herself in a deep mental health crisis that she did not yet have the language or understanding to properly process. She revealed:For many years I struggled financially because, as an amateur and at the beginning of a professional career, you simply dont make money in this sport. I moved out of my family home when I was 18, and I didnt want my parents to have the additional burden of supporting me financially. Even so, they always helped me whenever I needed it. Along the way I also dealt with various injuries, some minor, others much more serious. But none of them was as difficult as the time when I hit a very low point mentally and fell into depression. If I remember correctly, it was in 2021, before the IMMAF European Championships. Back then, people didnt talk nearly as much about depression, so I didnt really understand what I was going through.View this post on InstagramRather than permanently break her, that harrowing period organically became the bedrock for the immense mental resilience she now carries into every single fight. It forced her to confront the difficult idea that self-reliance has clear limits, and that leaning on others is not a weakness, but an absolute necessity. She reflected on the lasting, positive impact it left on her, both as a world-class competitor and as a person navigating life well beyond the cage. She said:That period taught me that there are situations in life when we cant rely only on ourselves or believe that we have to handle everything alone. It was an incredibly difficult time, but it made me realize that I needed to change many things about myself and the way I approached training. I can honestly say that this was the period when I really began to mature not only as an athlete, but also as a person. It helped me realize that Im a very strong woman, but I also know my limits now. From Odd Jobs To Full-Time FighterView this post on InstagramFor many years, fighting alone could not pay Czabans bills. Like so many dedicated athletes on the grueling come-up, she found herself constantly piecing together a living through whatever honest work was available. Restaurants, hotels, and cleaning jobs all seamlessly became part of her exhausting daily routine outside of training, taken on purely out of necessity. It was only this year that her dedicated work as a personal trainer finally became enough to safely sustain her without needing to heavily supplement her income elsewhere. It is a major life milestone that perfectly reflects just how far she has come since those early, uncertain years of chasing a professional fighting career with zero financial safety net.She explained:Right now, aside from training, I only work as a personal trainer. But its only this year that Ive been able to support myself through it. Before that, I had to take on various odd jobs. I worked in restaurants, at a hotel, and also did cleaning work.Ready For The Worlds Biggest StageView this post on InstagramA former European Champion and Junior World Champion, Czaban already arrives in ONE as a highly decorated, elite competitor. Now, armed with a bachelors degree in Physical Education from the University of Physical Education in Krakow and a lethal finishing instinct that has ended every single one of her four professional fights early, she is fully ready to test herself in the worlds largest martial arts organization.Standing directly across from her on August 14 will be Natalie Salcedo, a highly experienced American veteran who will comfortably provide the sternest litmus test of Czabans rising career to date. For a fighter who has already successfully overcome significant financial hardship, severe injuries, and a daunting battle with her own mental health, the bright lights and pressure of a promotional debut are simply one more challenge to meet head-on.If her inspiring story to this point is any indication, Magdalena Czaban has never been one to back down from a fight inside the ring or out of it.Source

Roma demand Mora guarantee on remaining 50 per cent from FC Porto
Roma demand Mora guarantee on remaining 50 per cent from FC PortoRoma are reportedly close to agreeing a form of co-ownership deal with FC Porto for Rodrigo Mora, paying 25m now and with a clause to buy the other 50 per cent for a set 25m in 2027.Co-ownership deals used to be commonplace in Italian football, but were banned several years ago.Now they have crept back in, using the form of clubs retaining a 50 per cent cut of the future sale fee.Roma pave path for MoraPORTO, PORTUGAL JANUARY 29: Max Aarons of Rangers passes the ball whilst under pressure from Rodrigo Mora of FC Porto during the UEFA Europa League 2025/26 League Phase MD8 match between FC Porto and Rangers FC at Estadio do Dragao on January 29, 2026 in Porto, Portugal. (Photo by Jose Manuel Alvarez Rey/Getty Images)Multiple sources including Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia confirm this is the approach that Roma are using with FC Porto to get attacking teenager Mora. The idea would be to pay 25m now with Porto retaining 50 per cent of the sale in future. However, Roma are eager to include a clause guaranteeing they can wipe that out at a fixed cost of a further 25m in the summer of 2027.This would give the Giallorossi more control over the total cost of the operation, in case Moras value on the market should sky-rocket in the next year.In turn, they wouldnt lose too much in case the Portuguese talent doesnt develop and can be sold off.
