However, his stint came to an end after Boston sent him to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Paul George and draft compensation.Some may have anticipated the league to dedicate a game on opening week to having the Celtics face the 76ers. It would have seen Boston star Jayson Tatum take on Brown, his former co-star. Not to mention LeBron James being on the 76ers as well.However, that game will take place on a later date. However, they blew a 3-1 series lead as they lost to the 76ers in seven games during the first round of the playoffs.The Celtics have plenty of questions to answer when it comes to improving their roster. He didn't card a birdie until his 28th hole, making three coming in, though it was too late to mount any sort of comeback.At 6 over and well off the projected cut line of 1 over, Stout will become the first player to start the championship at No. 1 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking and go on to miss match play since Keita Nakajima at Oakmont in 2021.Since WAGR was introduced in 2007, world Nos. 1 are now 11 for 18 in making the cut. Just six of those 11 have advanced past the Round of 32 while Peter Uihlein remains the only one to win, when he did so at Chambers Bay in 2010.The other two players in Stouts featured group this week, Tyler Watts and Miles Russell, ranked Nos. 3 and 4, respectively, combined to shoot 9 under in 36 holes of stroke play. Watts fired a second-round 65 and was the clubhouse leader at 6 under when he finished his round.Stouts next tournament will be the Walker Cup next month at Lahinch. Stout is already on the 10-man U.S. squad after debuting last year at Cypress Point.Watts and Russell are also already part of that team, with Watts winning the Northeast Amateur earlier this summer and Russell advancing to the final of the U.S. Junior and semifinals of the Western Amateur.

Instead, the San Antonio Spurs knocked off the defending champions in a thrilling series that went all the way to seven games.The Thunder were stunned that they were unable to make another deep playoff run. However, their center, Chet Holmgren, struggled to make an impact in Game 7.To even say Holmgren was passive on Saturday night would be giving him too much credit. He was basically invisible. Of the four shots he took, zero came in the second half. Zero! That is inexcusable for a guy who will start a five-year, $239 million contract next season. A guy who was voted Third Team All-NBA this season, CBS Sports Brad Botkin wrote.At the end of the season, Holmgren met with the media to discuss the Spurs series and acknowledged that he underperformed. He did not hold back when discussing his performance.I have to dive into the tape to understand the specifics of it, but a part of it, I was getting closed out heavily and just being out of rhythm at times. I feel like there were definitely opportunities to get more attempts up that I didn't in the moment. That's an area to improve," Holmgren said.Oklahoma City has some major financial decisions to make over the next year or so. The Athletics Zach Harper believes that if Holmgren does not improve in his matchups against Victor Wembanyama, the Thunder could eventually consider moving on from him.The second apron is rearing its ugly head with OKC in real time and will continue to do so as long as the Thunder keep that big three together. They might have to make a big-time decision soon. If Holmgren continues to struggle against Victor Wembanyama when it matters most, then maybe that decision becomes easier, Harper wrote.That puts some pressure on Holmgren heading into this season, as he needs to perform when the playoffs arrive. He is already on a max contract, and the Thunder could face difficult decisions as their financial commitments continue to grow.Holmgren is certainly one of the fan favorites in Oklahoma City, but he is also one of the highest-paid players on an organization that could soon face significant financial pressure because of the second apron. During his Pro Bowl campaign last season, Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane maxed out with 28 touches in a Week 10 win over the Buffalo Bills. His new head coach, Jeff Hafley, said Monday on The Rich Eisen Show that the 24-year-old back could have 40-plus touches in games this time around.I just gave Achane a heads up this morning and told him he better be in good shape, a charismatic Hafley told Eisen on Monday with a smile, because I told him there might be some games where I have to pick him up and carry him back into the locker room because he's going to be so tired. And I told him I don't ever want to see one of these head taps all year. He looked at me right in the eye and said, 'You'll never get that head tap from me.' I said, 'Don't worry, buddy. After you touch the ball 40, 45 times, I might have to pick you up, and I'll carry you back into the locker room.'This offseason, Hafleys first at the helm alongside general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan after their stay in Green Bay as Packers defensive coordinator and vice president of player personnel, respectively, the Dolphins signed Achane to a four-year extension reportedly worth up to $68 million. The deal comes with $32 million guaranteed, according to ESPN.While Miami parted ways with a slew of contributors at the beginning of its rebuild, it re-upped its commitment to Achane. The 2023 third-round pick out of Texas A&M is coming off his best season yet he piled up a career-high 1,838 scrimmage yards and once again logged 12 total touchdowns and now hes set to feature in offensive coordinator Bobby Slowiks unit.I love the guy, Hafley said. I mean, you want to talk about a guy with some juice and a guy with personality starting to come out and a guy who's starting to become a leader I just like those guys, who can kind of give it back to you a little bit and have some fun. He's really a smart football player, and it's fun to go back and forth with him, and he's got this fun energy about him. He clocked out with 1,350 rushing yards while posting 5.7 yards per tote. Along the way, he registered 67 receptions, amassing 488 receiving yards. Of his 12 scores, eight came on the ground.It sounds like the Dolphins will lean on him with first-year starter Malik Willis under center. Hafley has entrusted Willis, previously a backup with the Tennessee Titans and Packers, with the keys to Miamis offense. Hes piloting a group thats lacking substantial receiver talent at the moment. Although he can throw to the likes of Malik Washington, Jalen Tolbert and Tutu Atwell, it wont be surprising to see Achane involved heavily as a receiver.Hafley reiterated that Achane wont be tapping his helmet looking for a spell this season. If he is too drained and needs a breather, the every-down back will have to opt for a different, more subtle communication method, Hafley lightheartedly explained.If Achane starts tapping his head and you ever see that in the game, I'm just going to start beating my head and giving him the ball again, he said on The Rich Eisen Show.I'm not letting him tap his head. Now, look, man, he's going to get tired. I mean, he can just kind of sneak off [to] the sideline and look at me and wink or something, but he's not going to tap his helmet.

But in this instance, the Sparks will be playing at Galen Center in the University of Southern California.This game had a lot of intrigue. After all, both teams made a big trade with each other. The Sparks sent Kelsey Plum to the Mercury in exchange for Monique Akoa Makani, a 2027 first round pick, and a 2028 second rounder.It turns out that Plum will be out for this Tuesday game while Akoa Makani is listed as questionable. So Plum won't be able to take on her former team in her first return to L.A. since the trade occurred. The Sparks are 2-2 since the deal while the Mercury are 1-3.The playoffs are blurry in both teams' view at this point so they gotta see what they have. And it's a little tough for both. Akoa Makani is under contract for next season but Plum is an unrestricted free agent after this season. Plum had mentioned that she was going to go through the full process of free agency so the Mercury have to show Plum why she should stay.There are plenty of reasons to stay. Alyssa Thomas (who had a triple-double when they last visited L.A. on July 22nd) and Kahleah Copper are perennial all-stars. With Plum, they have a "big three" that they can call their own. Mercury coach Nate Tibbetts also encourages three-pointers in his system and Plum could similarly thrive in that as she did under Lynne Roberts in Los Angeles.Meanwhile, the Sparks nearly came back to defeat the Valkyries on Sunday and did beat the Lynx last Thursday. As mentioned before, it's never been a question about talent but it's about playing 40 minutes."(Erica Wheeler) was saying it's the small things, especially when you're... everybody right now is in the thick of it in the season so when you're trying to put these games together, you really have to pay attention to those details," Sparks forward Nneka Ogwumike said after the loss against Golden State on Sunday. "I think a lot of those details showed up in that first quarter. I think we probably can all say that we would do that first quarter over but with a team like that, you absolutely can't have multiple quarters, even one quarter, playing that way."Sparks were down, 29-15, against Valkyries after one and had to play catch-up the rest of the way. These slow starts have been a detriment and prevalent for the Sparks all season long."I think (Sunday) was kind of more of a mind over matter type of day," Ogwumike said. "I don't want to use the schedule as an excuse. As pros, like, I've been doing this a long time. There's always a point in the season when the schedule gets like this. And so I think today was a bit more mind over matter and it took us a little bit of time to kind of get into the game. But I am happy that we didn't just acquiesce to the results of the first quarter. So, yeah, you really just kind of have to get that focus and lock in, as E was telling us after the game."Ogwumike continues to be steady, averaging 17.1 points and 8.8 rebounds per this season. After a bit of a slump, Dearica Hamby has also been consistent, scoring double figures in her last 17 games. Erica Wheeler has stayed relentless, averaging 14 points and seven assists in her last five games."So I just think that we just need to continue this momentum and playing together and stay connected," Wheeler said. "Throw that first quarter out. It's a different ball game and I think we just need to start how we played that fourth quarter. And things is different. If somebody in the team come in here and beat us and we played hard like that New York game (from July 28th), I felt like no team should have lost. If we playing like that, then pat them on the butt and keep it moving."And they hope to keep that connection and momentum as they try to defeat the Mercury for the third time in their four match-ups this season.

The Miami Dolphins have the day off on Tuesday, as they travel up the East Coast ahead of their joint practice session and preseason meeting with the Washington Commanders later in the week.With that, the Dolphins released their first unofficial depth chart since Jeff Hafley took over for Mike McDaniel as the team's head coach earlier this offseason.There are several interesting points about this first depth chart, even though it's unofficial.Tight end Ben Sims is listed a hybric fullback, which would make it less likely that DJ Herman cracks the 53-man roster if they can have one player fill multiple spots.Third-round pick Caleb Douglas is listed with the starters. He's earned it through the first two weeks of camp, but it's good to see him get that recognition. Sticking with the wideouts, Theo Wease Jr. is 10th, at tthe highest, on the depth chart. He's behind Jalen Reagor, Tahj Washington, A.J. Henning and Terrace Marshall Jr.Jordan Phillips is seemingly tied with Kenneth Grant to be a starting defensive lineman next to Zach Sieler. If the former first-round pick isn't starting in 2026 after a lackluster rookie campaign, that's a bad sign.Second-round pick Jacob Rodriguez is also seemingly tied with Tyrel Dodson for the starting linebacker job next to Jordyn Brooks. It should just be a matter of time until Rodriguez takes over, but Dodson still gets the respect for now.Free agent addition Zayne Anderson is the starting safety next to Dante Trader Jr. He has familiarity with Hafley's system, and Lonnie Johnson Jr. hasn't done much to earn his spot.First-round pick Chris Johnson is listed as the starting nickelback with Jason Marshall Jr.starting on the outside.
