Ohio State has talent all over the field -- there's no doubt about it. So where do opposing teams look to attack when the Buckeyes have the ball? According to one anonymous Big Ten defensive coordinator, it's simple; Julian Sayin and his ability -- or inability -- outside of the pocket. Hes not a very big guy, I do like the way he manages the game and throws it, the coordinator told ESPN. The way they use him, hes been pretty unwilling to run. Hes a good athlete, but you want to try to get him out where he doesnt want to be.It's clear that Sayin isn't a dual threat runner, combining for -44 yards last year -- which includes sack yardage from 16 sacks. His season high in 2025 was 13 yards against Penn State and his longest rush was 12 yards against Washington. Sayin doesn't need to be a runner... let's be honest. He's coming off a season in which he threw for 3,610 yards and 32 touchdowns, with just eight interceptions, and was a Heisman Trophy finalist. With so much talent around him, however, there are questions about his ceiling."In the games that we played, there wasn't much that I saw from [Sayin]," one Big Ten coach said. "Other than he just ran the offense very well."A game manager? That's a lot to say about someone who came in and led the Buckeyes to the Big Ten title game and College Football Playoff as a first-year starter. It's not like Sayin didn't go up against quality opponents and deliver. His 77.0 completion percentage is the best in single-season program history at Ohio Stae, is a Big Ten Record and also is third highest in FBS history. Sayin threw for 250+ yards in eight games and was sixth in the nation in yards per attempt. Sayin enters 2026 as a Heisman candidate and looks to lead a Buckeyes team ranked No. 1 in the preseason coaches poll to a bit of revenge after the way last year ended. The Dallas Cowboys are well into the groove of training camp, completing their first joint practice against the Los Angeles Rams. Thus far, team observers have touted many of the Cowboys best players as the top performers. That goes with the territory; elite players will always shine when hitting is limited and plays continue beyond what would've been the end in a real-life scenario.But as with any camp, there are long shots also making their cases to earn spots, too. For the Cowboys, one of the biggest surprises has been Julius Wood, who is looking to stick at a position where the team is unusually deep, safety. Locke, has also been absent dealing with a hyperextended knee. He had a solid camp as a rookie and an admirable preseason two years ago where he had two passes defensed and a tackle for a loss in three games. The team decided to make Wood one of their last cuts, but he wasn't without a home for long as he was signed by the Tennessee Titans. Wood appeared in nine games for the Titans in 2024 but was released last summer before the Cowboys brought him back last October.In his second stint with the Cowboys, Wood is proving why he should stick this time around. Derry City interim manager Mark Connolly has reiterated that James McClean remains employed by the club despite speculation over his future.Former Republic of Ireland international McClean attended an open training session on Tuesday amid reports that the club are attempting to find a settlement that will end his time at the Brandywell Stadium."It was interesting to see the speculation on him turning up for training [on Tuesday]," said Connolly, the Candystripes' director of football who took on responsibility for the first team following Tiernan Lynch's departure last week."Ultimately he's trained sometimes and he hasn't trained sometimes due to his age."James is a Derry City player and we keep moving forward. He's one of 20-odd players. They're all Derry City players."Connolly said he was not completely sure of the "ins and outs" of any discussions with McClean and that his focus is on Friday's third round FAI Cup tie away to UCD.
