Teremoana Teremoana KOs DeAndre Savage in two; Michael Zerafa returns with stoppage over Alejandro Ortiz
Teremoana Teremoana made it out of Round 1 for the first time in nine fights but he didn't need too much longer.Teremoana knocked out DeAndre Savage in Round 2 on Wednesday at The Star on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia. He used the opener to break Savage down with his jab and try and find a home for his trademark right hand, which he had little difficulty doing. Savage's defense was non-existent, and Teremoana got through with multiple rights and a combination late in the round. The American was unable to connect with a shot of any significance.Just 44 seconds into Round 2, Teremoana landed a crushing right on the side of Savage's head. A noticeably uncomfortable look appeared on Savage's face after the shot connected. He held and tried to weather the storm, but it took just one more right hand, this time through the middle, for the American to take a knee.Savage chose not to beat the count, handing Teremoana another early KO victory. The fight was Teremoana's first main-event slot, and it featured on Fox Sports in Australia to showcase the heavyweight giant to a mass audience.Teremoana (12-0, 12 KOs), a 2024 Olympian, has never gone past two rounds as a professional. Wednesday's fight was supposed to mark a step-up in opposition for the 6'6" giant, but it proved to be as straightforward as all of his other pro fights.Savage (11-2, 11 KOs) entered the fight with a 100% KO-to-win record, having only suffered one defeat, a 10-round decision loss to Brandon Moore in September 2025. Teremoana's next fight could land on the undercard of the yet-to-be-announced Anthony Joshua vs. Tyson Fury mega-fight, according to both Teremoana and his promoter, Eddie Hearn. In the night's co-feature, Michael Zerafa returned to winning ways with an eighth-round TKO over Alejandro Ortiz. Zerafa (35-5, 23 KOs), making his debut for Eddie Hearn's Matchroom, was fighting for the first time since his infamous no-contest with Nikita Tszyu in January. Zerafa was labeled a quitter by many in Australia after the Tszyu bout because he claimed he could not see following an accidental clash of heads in Round 3, even while the damage was almost invisible on Zerafa's face.Ortiz (26-2, 25 KOs) entered the bout with an impressive KO streak and just one loss to his name, although those stats were not reflective of his ability at all. In reality, Ortiz was overmatched, and it was a comfortable night for Zerafa, who could be headed for a clash with Tony Harrison next.Main cardHeavyweight: Teremoana Teremoana def. Bob Iger, Josh Kushner to buy Lakers for more than $12 billion, ESPN reports
The Lakers are being sold to American businessmen Josh Kushner and Bob Iger for over $12 billion, a record-breaking price, multiple sources told ESPN.The businessmen were involved in the expansion process in Las Vegas, but in a stunning turn, they pivoted to make an aggressive offer to buy the Lakers from Mark Walter, who had purchased a controlling interest in the team from the Buss family last year for a franchise valuation of approximately $10 billion."As lifelong NBA fans, we are deeply honored for the opportunity to become stewards of the Los Angeles Lakers, one of the most iconic sports franchises in the world. We have immense respect for the leadership and vision of Jerry and Jeanie Buss," Kushner and Iger said in a statement. "Our long-term commitment is to build on that foundation, compete at the highest level, and serve this extraordinary team, its fans, and the city of Los Angeles."Walter, Walter, the CEO and chairman of diversified holding company TWG Global, has been the Lakers' majority owner since last October when his bid was unanimously approved by the NBA Board of Governors."Owning the Los Angeles Lakers has been one of the great honors of my life -- an extraordinary investment, but what I will carry with me is the community, the fans, and a city that treats this team as family. I am grateful to Jeanie Buss, the Buss family, the players, and the staff for welcoming me into this chapter. The Lakers belong to Los Angeles, and I have every confidence the best is still ahead," Walter said in a statement.Walter and TWG Global have interests in multiple professional sports organizations, including the Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Sparks, Premier League club Chelsea and the Professional Women's Hockey League. And through TWG Motorsports, Walter owns several auto racing teams, including Cadillac Formula 1.

Giants' Brandon Allen leads NFL in preseason passing over past decade
New York Giants veteran Brandon Allen has spent more than a decade in the NFL as a steady backup quarterback, bouncing between teams while rarely seeing meaningful regular-season action. Yet when the lights dim and the stakes drop in August, few players have been more productive under center.A recent Pro Football Focus examination of the top preseason performers over the last 10 years places the veteran at the top of the passing volume leaderboard.By sheer volume, stalwart backupBrandonAllenleads the way with 2,579 preseason passing yards over the last decade. His stat line also illustrates why he has spent his career on the bench rather than as a viable starter, throwing nine touchdowns and 16 interceptions. Allen will likely get an opportunity to add to those totals this summer as he battles for a roster spot with the Giants.Allen enters the 2026 preseason as the Giants third-string quarterback, listed behind Jaxson Dart and Jameis Winston. As the clear third option on the depth chart, he will undoubtedly receive the bulk of the snaps among the three this summer while New York evaluates its roster and gives its top two signal-callers limited work. The same PFF study also spotlighted several other players with Giants connections among the decades preseason standouts.Tight end Tanner Hudson ranks among the most productive receivers with 676 yards and six touchdowns, both the highest totals over the 10-year span. Wide receiver LilJordan Humphrey leads all active players under 30 with 582 preseason receiving yards. Guard Kevin Zeitler earned an 87.7 overall grade among offensive linemen, while retired linebacker David Mayo claimed the title of preseason tackling king with 100 stops since 2016.Allens lengthy track record in these exhibition games gives him a familiar stage as he competes for a roster spot in East Rutherford. This article originally appeared on Giants Wire: Giants' Brandon Allen leads NFL in preseason passing over past decade
