SPORTS.YAHOO.COMCavs, Clippers, Bucks get major NBA champion Peyton Watson update after $70M Nuggets offerCavs, Clippers, Bucks get major NBA champion Peyton Watson update after $70M Nuggets offer originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here. The Denver Nuggets have been plagued by financial hurdles throughout the offseason. Denver is over the second apron, which has made it extremely difficult for the franchise to make meaningful additions to the roster. The Nuggets have made only one signing this offseason, essentially because their financial situation has left them with very few options. It is one of the most difficult financial positions the franchise has ever been in.The Denver Nuggets were in a tough financial position before the offseason got underway, and by re-signing Spencer Jones to a two-year, $12 million deal, they slid into the second apron with a projected luxury tax penalty of $68 million, the highest in franchise history. However, this is all with two roster spots still to fill," SI's Logan Struck wrote.Denver is unlikely to be able to bring Peyton Watson back if the two sides cannot agree on a contract. The Nuggets are limited financially, while teams such as the Los Angeles Clippers, Milwaukee Bucks and Cleveland Cavaliers have expressed interest in acquiring Watson through a sign-and-trade.The Denver Nuggets remain interested in retaining restricted free agent forward Peyton Watson amid sign-and-trade interest from the Milwaukee Bucks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks, and Los Angeles Clippers. Denvers price tag in any sign-and-trade scenario has shifted to at least one first-round pick and one notable player, per multiple reports, and confirmed by HoopsHype, HoopsHypes Michael Scotto wrote. The good news for those teams is that Watson and his camp have already declined the Nuggets' latest offer. The Nuggets have offered Peyton Watson a four-year, $70 million contract, which includes a team option in 2029-30, per @sam_amick. Watson and Klutch Sports declined that offer continuing to seek larger annual pay elsewhere via sign-and-trade, NBA reporter Evan Sidery wrote. This puts the Bucks, Clippers and Cavaliers firmly in the mix for Watson, as no long-term agreement appears to be close between him and Denver. At 23 years old, Watson is coming off a breakout season and is looking to take another step forward in a bigger role.Ultimately, it could come down to which team can put together the best trade package for Denver. The Nuggets are in a difficult financial position, so any team acquiring Watson could potentially have to take on a contract that helps Denver reduce its financial burden.More NBA news:Nuggets' Peyton Watson gets $70M contract update as Denver's lackluster offseason continuesLakers predicted to trade Bronny James for $298M four-time ex-Warriors champion in 4-team dealWarriors predicted to sign $342M veteran elite shooter, 3-time All-Star to pair with Steph CurryThunder legend Russell Westbrook announces shocking retirement after future uncertainty0 Comments 0 Shares 276 Views 0 Reviews -
SPORTS.YAHOO.COMSky Sports: Ipswich Town set to sign 20-year-old starSky Sports: Ipswich Town set to sign 20-year-old star7Ipswich Set for Strasbourg Double Deal as Julio Enciso and Abdoul Ouattara Moves Near CompletionIpswich Town appear poised to strengthen their squad with a double signing from Strasbourg, with Julio Enciso expected to return to Portman Road and Abdoul Ouattara now also moving closer to a switch.According to Sky Sports, Ipswich have reached agreements involving both players as they continue shaping their squad ahead of the new campaign.Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth reported:Ipswich are set to complete a double signing from Strasbourg. The move for Enciso had already progressed significantly earlier in the day, while an agreement has now reportedly been secured for 20-year-old right-back Ouattara.Photo: IMAGOEnciso Return Offers Familiar QualityEnciso returning to Ipswich carries an obvious appeal. There is always a degree of uncertainty when a player arrives at a club, particularly when adapting to a new tactical system, dressing room and set of expectations. Enciso removes some of that uncertainty because Ipswich already know precisely what he can offer. His technical quality, ability to carry possession and willingness to take responsibility in attacking areas give Ipswich another creative option. There is also something to be said for bringing back a player who understands the environment. Recruitment increasingly revolves around reducing risk, and familiarity can be valuable when clubs are trying to assemble squads quickly.Sky Sports had earlier reported:Sky Sports News reported earlier today that an agreement was in place for Julio Enciso to return to Portman Road.Ouattara Adds Youth and AthleticismOuattara represents a rather different type of recruitment. At 20, the right-back offers Ipswich potential as well as immediate squad depth. An agreement has reportedly been reached with Strasbourg, the French club operating within Chelseas wider ownership structure.Sky Sports reported:They have now secured an agreement with Chelseas partner club in France for the signing of 20-year-old right-back Abdoul Ouattara.Modern full-backs are increasingly asked to perform several roles during the same match. They must defend wide spaces, support attacks, progress possession and sometimes move into midfield depending on the system. For Ipswich, adding a young player capable of developing within that environment could prove particularly useful.Ipswich Showing Ambition in Transfer MarketThere is a clear logic behind both transfers.Ipswich need players capable of improving the immediate squad while retaining enough development potential to become more valuable over time.Enciso offers established quality within their environment. Ouattara provides the possibility of growth.Neither signing guarantees success, because recruitment rarely works that neatly. Yet Ipswich appear to be assembling a squad with increasing depth, athleticism and technical ability.Getting both deals completed would represent another encouraging piece of business from a club determined to strengthen rather than simply stand still. Our View, EPL Index AnalysisFrom an Ipswich supporters perspective, this feels like exactly the kind of transfer update you want to hear.Getting Enciso back through the door would already be exciting because we know what he can bring. There is imagination in his game and that ability to produce something unexpected, which can completely change the mood inside Portman Road.Adding Ouattara at the same time makes the whole situation even better. He is only 20, he plays in a position where athleticism and energy are increasingly important, and Ipswich appear to have moved quickly once an opportunity became available. That is encouraging. There has to be a balance when building this squad. You need players capable of contributing immediately, but you also want younger footballers who can develop alongside the team. These two deals seem to tick both boxes.Enciso feels like someone who can come straight back in and understand exactly what is expected of him. Ouattara looks more like a player Ipswich can develop over the next few seasons. For supporters, that combination should create genuine optimism. If Ipswich can continue adding quality while keeping the youthful energy that has become part of the clubs identity, there is every reason to be pleased with the direction of travel.0 Comments 0 Shares 274 Views 0 Reviews -
SPORTS.YAHOO.COMOklahoma Little League teams demand leadership purge, Tulsa charter revocationRepresentatives of Oklahoma Little League teams have called for immediate removal of state and regional leadership, as well as revocation of Tulsa National Little League's charter, following the scandal that ultimately disqualified Team Oklahoma from the Southwest Region tournament. The call was issued by Pottawatomie County Little League and Deer Creek Little League with the support of over 300 additional Little League coaches, volunteers and parents across the Southwest Region. The letter states that the group stands united in demanding immediate accountability from Little League International following several eligibility controversies and disqualifications involving Tulsa National."We have no confidence in Oklahoma District Administrator Mindy Abbott to administer Little League in this state with the integrity, consistency and fairness its families deserve," the letter read. "We have no confidence in Southwest Region Director Blaine Whitmire to oversee this region with the impartiality and accountability his position demands."The statement calls upon Little League International to remove Abbott and Whitmire from their positions, revoke the charter of Tulsa National Little League and vacate all 2025 and 2026 Oklahoma State and Southwest Regional tournament titles awarded to Tulsa National Little League."The damage caused cannot be undone," it reads. "But Little League International can decide whether the failures that caused it will have consequences. Integrity without equal enforcement is not integrity. Fairness applied selectively is not fairness. And leadership without accountability is not leadership."The Oklahoman has reached out to Abbott and Whitmire for comment. Why was Tulsa National Little League baseball team disqualified?Little League International announced Tulsa National's disqualification from the Southwest Region tournament on Monday, Aug. 10, just an hour before what would become the championship game between Louisiana and Texas West. The joint complaint filed by three Southwest Region teams asked the league to investigate whether Tulsa National Little League operated its entire 2026 baseball program in compliance with Little League Regulations, Playing Rules, Operating Policies, Charter Requirements and Player Eligibility Requirements required for International tournament eligibility, according to the complaint, which was obtained byThe Oklahoman. In the complaint, the protesters said multiple sources confirmed that Tulsa National Little League partook in fraudulent use of the Challenger program to falsify player eligibility, among other rules violations. The Little League Challenger Division is Little Leagues adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical and intellectual challenges. Little League World Series rules say players participating at the "Major" level, which runs from ages 10-12, "must have amateur status, and have participated as an eligible player in eight regular-season games by the beginning of the International Tournament, with the exception of the school baseball or softball season."The protest also accused Tulsa National of violating the sibling participation rule, which states that players with siblings age 7 or under may register in any league program without respect to any geography-related eligibility or school enrollment requirements.A sibling was claimed to have participated in the Tulsa National Little League Challenger program, allowing for an older brother to be eligible. The complaint said the younger sibling involved is 10 and therefore not compliant with the rules. In addition, it says Tulsa National did not register or host a Challenger program in 2026.Eligibility protests against Tulsa National Little League softball teamJust three weeks ago, Tulsa National's softball team had a similar fate in the Southwest Region Tournament. The Little League International Tournament Committee determined that the adult volunteers and parents did not provide "sufficient documentation to verify that all players were eligible to participate in the International Tournament based on either their school enrollment or bona fide habitation within the leagues official boundaries, a statement released on Tuesday, July 21, said.As a result, the committee removed the team from the Southwest Region Tournament and declared Tulsa Nationals previous game a forfeit. The league requires all participating athletes to either reside within the leagues boundaries through bona fide habitation or attend a school located within those boundaries. According to the statement, the tournament committee works closely with local leagues to verify eligibility documentation and to review any challenges or protests brought to their attention throughout the tournament. This article originally appeared on Oklahoman: Oklahoma Little League teams demand leadership purge, Tulsa charter revocation0 Comments 0 Shares 273 Views 0 Reviews -
SPORTS.YAHOO.COMThis is a fireable offense: Outrage mounts after ESPN star ranks Patrick Mahomes outside of top 10 quarterbacksOct 12, 2025; Kansas City, Missouri, USA; Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (15) reacts after a play /against the Detroit Lions during the second half at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Mandatory Credit: Jay Biggerstaff-Imagn ImagesThe Kansas City Chiefs are coming off the most disappointing season of the Patrick Mahomes era. For the first time in Mahomes professional career, the Chiefs failed to make the playoffs, and Mahomes himself was unable to complete the campaign after suffering an ACL injury late in the season. All signs point toward Mahomes being ahead of schedule in his recovery and being ready to go by the time Week 1 rolls around. However, even when Mahomes has been healthy, the Chiefs offense hasnt taken the top off of defenses the same way it did when Mahomes was teh heir apparent to Tom Brady as the greatest quarterback in NFL history. It would appear that the failures of last season, the uncertainty on the sort of player hell be after his recovery, and the mediocrity the offense has been mired in as of late have all led ESPNs Dan Orlovsky to seriously reevaluate how he views Mahomes.Orlovsky recently ranked his top 10 NFL quarterbacks by traits heading into the season, and the Chiefs superstar was nowhere to be found when it came to pocket presence, mechanics, or ball placement. The ESPN analystexplained the reasoning behind his rankings on Thursdays episode of First Take.Yeah, the process is attached to a little bit of the performance from last season and trying to foreshadow a little bit of the upcoming season, he explained of how he formulated his rankings..@danorlovsky7 ranked NFL quarterbacks by trait Here is his Top 101Matthew Stafford2Drake Maye3Sam Darnold4Joe Burrow5Jared Goff6Jordan Love7Josh Allen8Lamar Jackson9Brock PurdyDak Prescott pic.twitter.com/G7JwkgTdqH First Take (@FirstTake) August 13, 2026The player health, the potential. Get him off NFL Live and off the network. SPORTS.YAHOO.COM3 reasons why Sri Lanka should believe they can beat India at home3 reasons why Sri Lanka should believe they can beat India at home originally appeared on Cricket News. Add Cricket News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.KEY TAKEAWAYS:India's recent home Test losses to New Zealand and South Africa expose a weakness against quality spin bowling.Sri Lanka boast in-form spinners like Prabath Jayasuriya and know exactly how Galle's pitch behaves over five days.India travel without Jasprit Bumrah, leaving a young, inexperienced attack short on Test know-how.Are Sri Lanka favourites against India in the two-match Test series? There's a reason Sri Lanka aren't walking into this series as underdogs, whatever the world rankings might say.Three good reasons, actually, and all of them point straight at India's soft spots heading into Galle. This isn't a case of a struggling minnow talking itself up before a beating; it's a genuine shot, built on recent history, home conditions, and a visiting side that's missing their World No.1 Test bowler capable of being decisive on any pitch on the planet. So, when Shubman Gill comes out for the toss on August 15 morning, he will be hoping to win it and allow his batsmen to have a go fresh on the wicket, rather than bat against the odds in the fourth innings.MORE:ICYMI: What Indias warm-up win over Sri Lanka tells us before the upcoming Tests1) India's awful recent record against spin tells its own storyForget reputation for a second and look at the scoreboard. India have lost home Test series to both New Zealand and South Africa in 2025; results that would've sounded absurd a decade ago.The batting collapses weren't down to raw pace or seam movement either; spin did the damage almost every time.Yashasvi Jaiswal fell to slow bowlers six times across those two series, managing just 31 and later 20.75 with the bat. KL Rahul barely got going, averaging 17 in his two South Africa appearances.Shubman Gill lost his wicket to spin four times against the Kiwis, and Rishabh Pant scraped together only 49 runs across two Tests versus South Africa, dismissed twice by Simon Harmer.Even Ravindra Jadeja, usually so reliable, was out to spin seven times in that stretch. Put simply, this Indian top order has forgotten how to bat long innings against turning balls, and Sri Lanka know it.MORE:Gambhir's fate as India Test head coach based on IND vs SL Test series result revealed BCCI/Creimas 2) Vulnerable India should be wary of JayasuriyaIndian bowlers have been historically terrorised by a certain Sanath Jayasuriya with his brutal batting, be it in Tests or ODIs. Now, Sri Lanka has a different Jayasuriya in their ranks, and this time the batsmen should be wary.Galle belongs to Prabath Jayasuriya, more or less. The left-armer has picked up 122 wickets in just 23 Tests, and nobody, from either side, has played more matches at this ground than him.Throw in Ramesh Mendis, who's quietly taken 71 wickets in 16 games, and Sri Lanka have a spin pairing that knows exactly which lengths choke run-scoring and which patches of rough to target once the pitch starts misbehaving.Former all-rounder Farveez Maharoof didn't hold back when assessing India's vulnerability, pointing out how strange it was that New Zealand got hammered in Galle before going on to beat India 3-0 at home.I think the record speaks for itself, Maharoof said. Losing to New Zealand 3-0 was a shocker in my opinion, because before New Zealand went to India, they actually played two Test matches in Galle and Sri Lanka beat them comprehensively. Then the New Zealand side went to India and won 3-0.MORE:Indian batters warned about Sri Lanka's major 'weapon' during Test seriesIt isn't only about the surface, it's about knowing what to do once that surface changes.Sri Lanka captain Dhananjaya de Silva put it well when he explained that scratching out runs here demands patience most touring batters simply don't have. And Indians, who specialise in IPL heroics, will most likely have a tough run."The difference is that it's quite hard to get runs over here and the batters really need to dig in and show temperament to score a sizeable number of runs," De Silva said."We know how to approach our innings. We know when it's going to start turning. Several batters become clueless when it turns and don't know how to go about a knock in these conditions."Stats-wise, we have the upper hand. Prabath has played more matches than any other guys in the two teams, especially in Galle. He has had the upper hand over many touring batting lineups over the years. Plus-one to Sri Lanka, I would say."(Getty)3) Injury issues further plague IndiaIndia aren't just battling good spinners on a helpful pitch, they're doing it without half their strike force. Jasprit Bumrah is out of the entire series with a knee issue, replaced by uncapped quick Auqib Nabi. Washington Sundar is missing with a hamstring problem, Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy are both unavailable for the full tour, and Akash Deep is nursing a back injury. That leaves Mohammed Siraj carrying the new-ball load almost alone, backed up by bowlers with barely any Test cricket behind them. Prasidh Krishna has played seven Tests, and Gurnoor Brar is yet to earn his cap.MORE:Full list of injuries suffered by India stars in 2026: Latest updates with Indian cricket in a fitness crisisAdd all this up, and you get a touring side that's short on firepower, shaky against turning deliveries, and coming off back-to-back home series defeats walking into the one ground on earth where the opposition's best bowler has made a career out of exploiting exactly that weakness.Sri Lanka aren't hoping for an upset here. They've got the personnel, the conditions, and recent evidence all lined up in their favour, and if they play with the patience De Silva talked about, there's no reason this shouldn't be a genuinely even contest.Maybe even one where the hosts start as favourites. India will need something close to their best to avoid another chastening lesson against spin, this time at the hands of their less illustrious neighbours. For all the latest cricket news, opinion, and commentary and to share your voice, head to ourFacebook,Instagram, andX (Twitter)pages.0 Comments 0 Shares 245 Views 0 Reviews
