Not only is Palou favored at Markham and in the look-ahead lines for next week's race in D.C., but the reigning champ is a heavy favorite to defend his title. With six wins, six poles and a 110-point lead on the next driver for the championship, it's hard to bet against Palou. One To Watch That next man on the board, who sits 110 points behind Palou for the championship, is Kyle Kirkwood. He's also second on the board to be the outright winner at D.C. Earlier this season, Kirkwood got the win at Arlington, another inaugural street course on INDYCAR's 2026 circuit. With that in mind, could Kirkwood end up getting into Winner's Circle again as the series races on the streets of Markham for the first time?

2027 five-star quarterback Trae Taylor committed to Nebraska back in May of 2025 over some powerhouse programs like Michigan, Notre Dame, and LSU, among many others. Taylor is ranked as the No. 1 quarterback in the class, and he is 247Sports No. 8 player overall. Despite rumors of Matt Rhule being on the hot seat, along with Rhule potentially leaving the Cornhuskers, Taylor wasnt concerned. Rhule was in communication with Taylor the entire time and there were a variety of reasons why he picked Nebraska including Rhules role. There were multiple things that told me they were a fit, Taylor told The Big Lead. Whatever Nebraska told me they were going to do, they did it. [QB] Coach [Glenn] Thomas when I sat with him, he challenged me. And Nebraska made sure to get me on the board anytime I was in town, so they could see my mind processes things. The whole program recruited me not just the coaches. This was most important to me; the head coach was involved the whole time. He has a massive arm, can layer throws, and has the ability to run when needed. Taylor threw for over 3,300 yards and 36 touchdowns last season, with only five interceptions. Taylor has one more season of high school football, and hes excited to see what offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen will do this season as he enters his second season at Nebraska. I think I can fit in any offensive scheme, said Taylor. The one thing I dont want is to be running QB power 15 times a game. But I think we are going to see more from coach this year having a mobile QB. Which I think fits me perfect. The Huskers lost their prized quarterback when former five-star Dylan Raiola opted to transfer after his second season at Nebraska.Colandrea comes in after starring at UNLV this season. The dual-threat signal caller would have one more season of eligibility, but thats not stopping the top-rated quarterback from gearing up to start as a true freshman. American Samoa dropped its final game of the day to previously winless Israel 40-24. Team USA bounced back from its shocking defeat to clobber Australia 40-7.American Samoa and Team USA have both advanced to the quarterfinals.This years world championships mark the first Olympic qualifying event in flag football. The two-best finishers in the mens and womens tournaments will book their tickets to LA28. That said, the U.S. men and women pre-qualified as hosts, so if their teams place among the top two in either event, the bronze-medal winning squad will get the Olympic nod instead. Six total mens teams and six total womens teams will compete in the upcoming Olympics. After the world championship, the remaining three qualification spots, per gender, will be earned at the Olympic Q-Series in June 2028. The teams that obtain LA28 bids via the world championships wont take part in the Olympic Q-Series.The IFAF Flag Football World Championships, a biennial event, began on Thursday and will wrap on Sunday. Both the mens and womens tournaments consist of 16 teams in Germany this week. Those teams are split up into four groups in each bracket. Group play took on a round-robin format, with each team playing the three others in its group.The top two teams in each group go on to the quarterfinals. Thats where Team USA will take on undefeated Japan on Saturday. Before that, American Samoa, the unexpected winner of Group A in its world championship debut, will face Canada.

Major League Baseball will return to the Field of Dreams in 2027 with the Kansas City Royals taking on the Boston Red Sox.The league announced the game will take placeon Thursday, Aug. 12, in Dyersville, Iowa, and will be broadcast on NBC, marking the fourth edition of the game.This year's contest, a Philadelphia Phillies 7-1 victory over the Minnesota Twins played Aug. 13, was broadcast exclusively on Netflix.The 2027 game will be a Royals home date, with the Thursday game followed by a Friday off day. British cyclist Finlay Tarling has died aged 19, after a serious accident during the eighth stage of the Volta a Portugal. Tarling is the younger brother of Ineos Grenadiers rider Josh and had raced for Great Britain on the road and track.The Welshman was competing for the NSN Development Team, when the incident occurred on the 166.8km route from Melgaco to Fafe.In a statement, NSN said: "We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Finlay Tarling at the Volta a Portugal today."Fin was a much loved member of our team but most importantly, he was a son, a brother, and a friend to so many. The Philadelphia Eagles will move from training-camp evaluation to live competition when they visit the Baltimore Ravens for Saturday nights preseason opener. Philadelphia has several established starters who may not play or could receive limited work. Their anticipated absences will create opportunities for rookies, reserves and veterans competing for roles within one of the NFLs deepest rosters.The Eagles must reduce their offseason roster to 53 players by Aug. 30, leaving only three preseason games for players to make their cases. Position battles at backup quarterback, wide receiver, tight end, offensive tackle and throughout the secondary remain worth monitoring.Here are seven Eagles with the most to prove against Baltimore.Tanner McKeePhiladelphia brought Andy Dalton to training camp to provide an experienced option behind Jalen Hurts, placing McKee in a legitimate competition for the backup quarterback job. The preseason opener gives McKee his first opportunity to demonstrate how much he has developed in Sean Mannions offense.McKee has displayed intriguing ability during previous preseason appearances, but his evaluation will extend beyond completions and passing yards. The Eagles need to see command at the line of scrimmage, efficient decision-making, and the ability to function when protection or a play breaks down. A composed performance would help McKee remind the coaching staff why he has been considered a promising developmental quarterback.Hollywood BrownBrowns guaranteed money and established NFL production make him a strong candidate to remain on the roster, but his quiet training camp has allowed other receivers to gain ground. His receiving ability is an important part of the evaluation, but the Eagles must also determine whether he can block NFL defenders, execute assignments from multiple alignments and contribute on special teams. Saturday represents Stowers first chance to demonstrate why Philadelphia invested a premium draft selection in him.Markel BellBells massive 6-foot-9, 346-pound frame makes him one of Philadelphias most intriguing rookies.
