2026 NFL Odds: As Roster Questions Linger, Back Chiefs Under 10.5 Wins
With a new league year comes new team structures, and the Chiefs have started to remake their squad for the 2026 NFL season. The most newsworthy and impactful roster transaction was trading All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie to the Rams for a handful of draft picks, including a first-round selection in next month's draft. Along with McDuffie, the Chiefs lost Jaylen Watson, Bryan Cook and Joshua Williams from the secondary. Linebacker Leo Chenal won't be back for 2026 either. On defense, the Chiefs added Khyiris Tonga and Alohi Gilman, and they will look at adding a pass rusher and cornerback early in the draft. The Chiefs' splashiest signing was running back Kenneth Walker from Seattle. The Super Bowl MVP will be a huge boost to that offense. Their running back room was the worst in the NFL last year, and they were last in explosive runs. Walker is fantastic at splash plays, and even if the Chiefs dont tailor the offense to Walker, he will help immensely. This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. Then there's Travis Kelce, who'll return for his 14th season, in the wake of those laughable reports that he was considering another home for 2026. Kansas City's offensive line will replace Taylor with Moore but will need to add receivers in the draft and in the second wave of free agency. The health of quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be the defining factor for Kansas City's success next season. He tore his ACL late in the season, but all reports indicate he will be ready for Week 1. The Chiefs' win total is set at 10.5, with the expectation he'll be starting when the season opens. Right now, though, theres just no argument to make for the Chiefs' win total Over. K.C. is surely going to have a better record in close games, but the question marks from last season still linger. Where is the easy offense? Who are the impact receivers? The run game will be better with Walker, but are the Chiefs committed to it? The offensive line is above average (if healthy) but depth just like every team will be tested. And then, of course, we have to go back to Mahomes. We know it takes significant time to start feeling like yourself after a major knee injury, but Mahomes is superhuman. Maybe hes not rusty or doesnt feel the effects of playing on a repaired knee, but Id rather be cautious about my outlook than overshoot. Also, I have faith Andy Reid is going to retool and reform the offense, even though he hasnt shown that willingness in recent years. If he does make those changes, Id feel good about Kansas City's offensive production. The biggest hole on this team continues to be its pass rush outside of Chris Jones. It stinks and the Chiefs' defense has gotten away with it because the secondary has been so good. Now that secondary is much younger and doesnt have McDuffie. Without making additions to the defense, that unit looks worse on paper than it did last season. The Chiefs' schedule features a difficult division slate with two against the Chargers, Broncos and an improved Raiders team. The AFC West plays the NFC West and AFC East, so there are some wins on the schedule with those teams. Finally, the Chiefs get three games against three other third-place teams. The schedule is more manageable than ever, but again, those questions about the roster and the offense still loom. If I had to make a wager on the Chiefs win total now, it would be Under. I do, however, think there are plenty of opportunities to take the Chiefs during the season. Until the schedule order is released, its difficult to find that sweet spot. But if Kansas City shows that its offense has improved and that Mahomes is healthy, the Chiefs will find success next season.

ESPN heavily favors Duke over Florida State in ACC Tournament
One year ago, Luke Loucks walked into the Tucker Center and told a room full of Florida State fans it was good to be home. On Thursday night, he gets to prove exactly how good it feels. Florida State enters the ACC Tournament quarterfinal against No. 1 Duke, with the ESPN Matchup Predictor giving the Seminoles just a 4.0% chance of pulling the upset at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. The models say it is over before it starts. The spread says the same.Duke is the best team in the country, but the last seven weeks of Florida State basketball say the Seminoles have not read the forecast. They never do.The most important context for Thursday night exists in the Jan. 3 box score: Duke won 91-87 in Tallahassee. Four points. On FSU's home floor. The Seminoles, playing at home and still early in Loucks' first season, pushed the nation's eventual No. 1 seed to the final possession. Duke is a better, more complete team than what FSU held to a four-point win in Tallahassee, but the Seminoles know what this opponent looks like. Duke has gone 16-1 since that meeting and is now entering the ACC Tournament with a significantly diminished rotation. This is the detail that makes Thursday's matchup more nuanced than the matchup predictor suggests.Duke will be without starting point guard Caleb Foster and starting center Patrick Ngongba II for the entirety of the ACC Tournament. The Blue Devils ended the regular season on an eight-game win streak, winning those games by an average margin of 23.1 points. That version of Duke had Foster and Ngongba. Thursday's version does not.Whatever opportunities the Seminoles may find on offense, they will spend most of the night dealing with the most dominant individual player in college basketball.Cameron Boozer is averaging 22.7 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game this season on 58.3% shooting from the field. He is the ACC Player of the Year. He is Duke's engine, its primary scorer, its rebounder, and its interior anchor. For FSU to win, Thomas Bassong, Alex Steen, and Lajae Jones would collectively need to limit Boozer to something far below his season average. That task has proven beyond nearly every opponent Duke has faced this year.Florida State has not been given a chance all season. The models gave Cal the edge on Wednesday night. Loucks held a 4 a.m. film session after the worst loss in program history. None of it stopped the Seminoles from finishing over .500 in the ACC for the first time since 2021 and advancing to face the nation's top team.Wednesday night, they beat California 95-89. The Seminoles held the lead for 81% of the game against a team ESPN's models had picked to win. Now they are back on the floor 24 hours later, staring up at a 29-2 Duke team, and the models have rendered their verdict again.Loucks will walk his team out onto the Spectrum Center floor for the biggest game of his first season as a head coach. He will do it with a program that has won 11 of its last 15 games, a point guard playing the best basketball of his career, and nothing to lose. The college basketball world says Duke wins. The last two months say the Seminoles belong on this floor.Contact/Follow us@FSUWireon X, and like our page onFacebookto follow ongoing coverage of FSU news, notes, and opinions. This article originally appeared on FSU Wire: ESPN Matchup Predictor: Florida State given 4% chance vs Duke
