JJ Redick believes Luka Doncic is not getting enough love for his superstar performances
JJ Redick believes Luka Doncic is not getting enough love for his superstar performances originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.Luka Doncic is unanimously the Los Angeles Lakers' best player. Everyone is well aware of that, but head coach JJ Redick still believes that he is not getting enough love. Considering most people are looking at names like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic, Redick might have a point. This season, Doncic has been playing well at an MVP level again. However, he has been overshadowed by his peers, especially SGA. With this 51-point outburst against the Chicago Bulls, Doncic is in the headlines again, which could be the key to him getting the well-deserved spotlight again.Redick continues to campaign for Doncic to get his well-deserved spotlightAs a head coach who wants his players to be as confident as possible, Redick wants more people to appreciate Doncic. He brings up great points because Doncic has been stellar yet again this season. Unfortunately for him, he is not getting the same plaudits as his peers.Of course, the other players deserve the praise because they have been carrying their teams. SGA, Jokic, Cade Cunningham, and Victor Wembanyama are all playing at an MVP level, and they all have arguments for the award by the end of the season.MORE: JJRedick praises James for his sacrifice to help Austin Reaves and Luka DoncicAgainst the Bulls on Thursday, Doncic had arguably his best game of the season. He posted a stat line of 51 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists, and three steals. It was a dominant game that was further strengthened by his spat with the Bulls' Matas Buzelis during the game.Moving forward, this game shows Doncic's potential in carrying his team. Of course, he had help with stellar performances from Austin Reaves and Deandre Ayton, but Redick wants to highlight Doncic's contributions as the star player."Hes playing as well as anybody in the NBA right now, and I think its probably not being talked about enough, but I'm going to talk about it," Redick said about Doncic not getting the appreciation he deserves. As the Lakers wind down their season, they are getting better performances across the board. Of course, most people look at the big three of Doncic, Reaves, and LeBron James. However, since Luka is playing at a high level, the rest of the team is benefiting, including Ayton. If they can maintain this level moving forward, the Lakers are a tough team to beat. In the Playoffs, they will be a tough team to go against, and Redick is ready to coach a team that is ready to keep fighting in their quest for success.More NBA news:JJ Redick urged to bench a 'diva' on his roster over concerns about his characterPaul Pierce exposes Luka Doncic's constant complaining to the refereesReaves speaks about the Los Angeles Lakers' momentum in their recent successThe Lakers' competition to re-sign Austin Reaves continues to heat upFormer Luka Doncic coach Rick Carlisle defends the star Lakers guard

'No one can exclude us from World Cup' rages Iran after Donald Trump issues new warning to players
Iran's national football team has issued a defiant response to Donald Trump, declaring that no one has the authority to exclude them from this summer's World Cup.The furious statement came after the US President warned the Iranian squad to stay away from the tournament for their own protection.Tehran's footballers have instead argued that a host country unable to guarantee the safety of competing teams should forfeit its place. The team's official statement stressed that the World Cup remains a historic global competition organised by Fifa rather than any individual nation.TRENDINGStoriesVideosYour SayThe statement read: "The World Cup is a historic and international event, and its governing body is Fifa, not any individual country. "Irans national team, with strength and a series of decisive victories achieved by the brave sons of Iran, was among the first teams to qualify for this major tournament."Certainly no one can exclude Irans national team from the World Cup. "The only country that could be excluded is one that merely carries the title of "host" yet lacks the ability to provide security for the teams participating in this global event".Trump had earlier posted on Truth Social that whilst Iran's national side would be welcome at the World Cup, he did not believe their attendance was appropriate. The President wrote: The Iran National Soccer Team is welcome to The World Cup, but I really dont believe it is appropriate that they be there, for their own life and safety. His comments followed the joint US-Israel missile strike on Iran that resulted in the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, dramatically escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran ahead of the tournament being hosted across the United States, Canada and Mexico.Iran's Sports Minister Ahmad Donyamali had previously indicated the team would not travel to the competition, citing impossible circumstances following the killing of their supreme leader.LATEST SPORT NEWSIran confirms boycott of World Cup amid US conflict just hours after Donald Trump revealed stanceDonald Trump's new stance on Iran's World Cup participation revealed amid fears of withdrawalEngland star Kyle Walker retires from international football months before World Cup gets underwaySpeaking on TV, he said: "Since this corrupt government assassinated our leader, we have no conditions under which we can participate in the World Cup."In view of the malicious measures taken against Iran, two wars were forced upon us within eight or nine months, and several thousand of our people were killed."Therefore, we definitely have no possibility of participating in this way."Donyamali emphasised that Iranian players faced genuine danger, declaring: "Our boys are not safe, and conditions for participation do not exist."The minister also referenced two wars imposed on Iran over recent months, claiming thousands of citizens had been killed. The tournament commences on June 11 with the final scheduled for July 19.Iran has been drawn into Group G alongside Belgium, Egypt and New Zealand, with their opening fixture against New Zealand set for June 16.However, organisers now face a significant headache if they have to find a replacement nation should Iran ultimately withdraw from the competition. The team had been among the earliest qualifiers for the tournament, securing their place through an impressive run of victories during the qualification campaign. Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter
