SPORTS.YAHOO.COMEdwards on 'love' for Andre, Johnstone's injury and 'momentum'Wolves boss Rob Edwards has been speaking to the media before Friday's Premier League game against West Ham United at London Stadium (kick-off 20:00 BST).Here are the key lines from his news conference:In terms of injury news, Sam Johnstone is suffering with a "shoulder issue" and Matt Doherty has picked up a "niggle", so neither will feature on Friday night. The goalkeeper's injury may hamper his chances of featuring in the final seven games of this season, although Edwards hopes to obtain "more detail" soon. The "ultra-long" 25-day international break has been "good but strange". He explained: "I can't remember ever having this amount of time between fixtures, apart from during Covid, so it has been new and different for me."It has been an opportunity to "review some stuff, take some time off, do some good training and look forward" though. He added: "West Ham have had a couple of competitive games since we last played, so maybe that will help them. Hopefully the break has been good for us. It will be interesting to see how we turn up."When asked how Wolves will approach the fixture, he replied: "It is a really big game for both teams. We want to try to take things as far as we can, keep improving, keep the momentum going, and go into it wanting to win."Edwards feels the 3-0 victory over West Ham United earlier this season "certainly helped morale and built belief", but there had been "a lot of good performances" prior to picking up that result. He feels Nuno Espirito Santo is a "brilliant manager", who rightly has "legendary status" following his time at Wolves. On being able to move off the bottom of the table with a win, he said: "We want to try to take as much positive momentum into next season, so clearly we want finish as high as possible. To do that we need to get points, but we haven't thought about what it might do to the table. It would be silly to do so."He hasn't "thought too much" about what would make a good end to the season: "I suppose I want to try to keep the feeling we've got around the club right now. If we feel good about the football club and the work we have done, that's some success to take into next season."Lastly, when asked about defensive midfielder Andre, he replied: "I love him to bits. He is brilliant, as a person and as a player. He is a wonderful guy. When he plays well, we play well."Follow all of Thursday's Premier League news conferences and the rest of the day's football newsGot a question about Wolves? WWW.GBNEWS.COMGolf legend, 90, sparks furious backlash with comments to female presenter at MastersGary Player sparked controversy at Augusta National on Wednesday when the 90-year-old golf legend made an unexpected remark to Sky Sports presenter Anna Jackson during the annual Par 3 event. The South African, who has won nine major championships and is widely regarded as one of the sport's all-time greats, caught viewers off guard before Jackson could even pose her first question.Player turned to the camera crew and asked: "Why have you started working with this good looking chick, huh?"Jackson, visibly taken aback by the exchange, maintained her composure and replied: "What an introduction that is."TRENDINGStoriesVideosYour SayThe clip rapidly spread across social media platforms, igniting fierce debate among golf fans.Viewers took to social media in droves to condemn what many described as inappropriate conduct from the golfing icon."We sat there shaking our heads. The old creep," wrote one viewer, while another stated: "He's pandered to within golf."One fan expressed concern about the broader implications, posting: "Did anyone else hear Gary Player refer to Anna Jackson as a 'good looking chick' live on Sky Sports last night?"The worrying thing is, many people will think that type of behaviour is absolutely fine."Others praised Jackson's handling of the situation, with one commenting: "That guy always makes my skin crawl. Says a lot about Anna's professionalism that I didn't even pick up on it."LATEST SPORTS NEWS:Lewis Hamilton bombshell with F1 icon 'likely' to retire at end of the seasonPremier League icon accused of fabricating story about Wayne RooneyNike admits World Cup kit flaw as England shirt among those affected despite huge priceHowever, not all viewers were critical of the 90-year-old, with some rushing to his defence by pointing to generational differences."He is from a totally different generation, the man is 90 years old. So the channel probably knows what they might get in terms of output," one supporter argued.Another defended Player more forcefully, writing: "He's 90 years old. Comes from a different era in a country with far bigger issues than upsetting a few bedwetters by calling a good looking girl, a good looking girl."One viewer struck a more measured tone, noting: "I was disappointed to hear the comment. Anna was totally professional. "Not sure how much GP is aware of current norms but I'm sure he should be."Player holds a distinguished place in Masters history, becoming the first non-American to claim a green jacket in 1961 before securing two further victories in 1974 and 1978.He also holds the record for the most Masters appearances, having competed 52 times between 1957 and 2009.Player's relationship with Augusta has faced complications in recent years, however, after his son Wayne received a lifetime ban for a marketing stunt during the 2021 honorary starters ceremony honouring Lee Elder. Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter0 Commentaires 0 Parts 30 Vue 0 Aperçu -
