WWW.KSAT.COMTransgender darts pro says she 'just got retired' by governing body's policy changeA transgender darts player said she's not done fighting after the sport's governing body enacted rules barring transgender women from womens tournaments.Noa-Lynn van Leuven of the Netherlands spoke out Thursday when the Darts Regulation Authority's new policy took effect."Apparently, I just got retired not by choice, but because Im no longer allowed to compete, Van Leuven said in a video on her Instagram account. The 29-year-old van Leuven had competed in the Women's Series of the Professional Darts Corporation. In 2024, she became the first transgender woman to play at the PDC World Darts Championship.Ive worked so damn hard for years just to get here. I showed up, I competed. I respected the sport every game, every single day, van Leuven said. And now, with just one decision, Im being told I dont belong anymore. This isnt just about me. This is another huge hit for the trans community. She will still be eligible for open PDC events. It's not clear what van Leuven's legal options are, but in a written message with the video she added: This isnt the end. Im just going back to the drawing board. Im not done fighting. The DRA said in a statement Thursday that it began a review of its policies in 2025. It included commissioning a report from an academic developmental biologist who has published several papers on sex and categories in sport. The DRA has also considered extensive legal advice. As a result of its review, the DRA is satisfied that to achieve fair competition in darts, only biological females should be eligible to compete in womens tournaments regulated by DRA Rules, it said.___AP sports: https://apnews.com/hub/sports0 Yorumlar 0 hisse senetleri 13 Views 0 önizleme -
WWW.CLICK2HOUSTON.COMTigers' Parker Meadows hospitalized after head-to-head outfield collision with teammate Riley GreeneDetroit Tigers center fielder Parker Meadows was sent to a hospital for overnight observation after he collided head-to-head with teammate Riley Greene as they converged for a fly ball on Thursday.Greene made the catch, and Meadows landed on his back in a daze, barely moving with his hands pointed up and blood appearing on his face. After a few minutes, Meadows was able to sit up. Medical personnel slowly helped him stand and move toward a cart that was waiting to take him away. It's a terrible feeling. I still feel terrible, Greene said after the game against Minnesota at Target Field. He hit my head. I don't know where I hit him, to be honest, but I just really hope he's OK."Meadows had a concussion, manager A.J. Hinch said after the Tigers lost 3-1 to the Twins and were swept in the four-game series. The collision caused Meadows to bite the inside of his mouth, which led to the bleeding. Were going to get him checked out for everything, but this one worries me, Hinch said.Josh Bell led off the eighth inning for Minnesota with a shallow fly to left-center that Greene appeared to be calling for as he and Meadows ran toward the ball. Meadows tried slowing up and backing off at the last second. But his face appeared to slam against Greene's head, sending both players tumbling to the grass. Its a perfect tweener, and you have two guys who like to go and get it, catcher Jake Rogers said. Its a scary thing.Meadows has started 11 of 13 games in center field for the Tigers this season. Matt Vierling made the other two starts. Meadows went 0 for 3 on Thursday and is batting .250 with two extra-base hits. The 26-year-old Meadows, who was a second-round draft pick by the Tigers in 2018, made his major league debut in 2023. He missed the first two months of last season with a nerve problem in his upper right arm. Then he missed more than a month with a shoulder injury and finished with a .215 average and a .621 OPS.___AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB0 Yorumlar 0 hisse senetleri 13 Views 0 önizleme -
WWW.GBNEWS.COMTyson Fury downplays all British bout with Anthony Joshua as he vows to stay focused on 'dangerous' opponentTyson Fury has vowed to remain fully concentrated on his Saturday bout against Arslanbek Makhmudov, insisting he will not make the error of underestimating an opponent while speculation swirls around a potential all-British showdown with Anthony Joshua.Speaking at Thursday's press conference in Canary Wharf, the 'Gypsy King' remained guarded when questioned about a prospective clash with his domestic rival, even as negotiations for the highly anticipated contest continue behind the scenes.Fury, who holds a record of 34-2-1 with 24 knockouts, appeared determined to keep his attention fixed on the Canadian-based Makhmudov, a powerful puncher boasting 19 knockouts from 21 victories.Peter McKenna, chief executive of Croke Park, has confirmed that discussions are already taking place regarding the Dublin venue hosting the blockbuster encounter.TRENDINGStoriesVideosYour SayThe iconic Irish stadium, capable of accommodating more than 80,000 fans, has emerged as the preferred location for what would be one of British boxing's most significant heavyweight clashes.A deal appeared within reach back in December before Joshua stepped away from boxing following the tragic deaths of two close friends in a car accident. The 29-4 fighter has since returned to training and was spotted at the O2 Arena last Saturday, watching Derek Chisora's loss to Deontay Wilder.Fury said: "Well, I dont want to be mentioning anybodys name and name-dropping when I have got a dangerous heavyweight in front of me in Arslanbek Makhmudov."The British boxer added: "All those other t*****s can wait their turn to get a good hiding. "First, Ive got to deal with him and give him a good hiding because many men have overlooked the first huddle at bigger names and been chinnedAnthony Joshua did that before."So, were not going to go there because that is what I dont want."We will focus on one man here, Makhmudov, and come Sunday, you can ask me all the questions you want about any heavyweight in the world, but give this man his respect."LATEST SPORT NEWS:Andy Robertson confirms Liverpool exit in bombshell announcement just weeks after Mohamed SalahCristiano Ronaldo dragged into Saudi league cheating claims as England star launches scathing attackEngland handed World Cup boost as rivals suffer major injury blow with Premier League star outFury continued: "Like I said when Daniel Dubois was fighting Anthony Joshua (in 2024), everybody said and all the boxing brains said, AJ will knock him out inside three rounds, and they were overlooking him. Are you going to fight Tyson next? "And I said you better put some respect on Dubois name because hes going to chin him and thats what happened. So, I wont fall down that same hurdle and trap."Fury again reiterated on Thursday that the death of Joshuas close friends Sina Ghami and Latif Latz Ayodele in Nigeria influenced his decision to reverse his retirement from boxing because "you have to live every day like its your last" before his 38th contest. All roads currently lead to fight number 39 being against Joshua, especially after key figures at Croke Park let slip plans to stage Katie Taylor on the undercard of any potential Battle of Britain in Dublin."The real hope is that we will get Tyson Fury here later on in the year" Croke Park stadium chief executive Peter McKenna told BBC Sport."That would be such a world-billing event that we would be able to facilitate a Katie Taylor fight here. A lot of stars need to align. Katies manager needs to agree, Katies promoter needs to agree, Tyson Furys promoter needs to agree. I am very confident that all three are coming to the sense."Fury was lifted in the air by Makhmudov during a friendly face-off, but could not help but tease future plans for 2026 when he spoke on Rings YouTube channel later on Thursday.Fury confirmed: "As far as I am concerned, I will focus on this big Russian fella, then Anthony Joshua and maybe a third fight (with Usyk)."Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter0 Yorumlar 0 hisse senetleri 13 Views 0 önizleme -
