WWW.CLICK2HOUSTON.COMFurman safety, Atascosita grad Taylen Blaylock meets with hometown Texans Kind of surrealFor Taylen Blaylock, Friday morning was a special time. The Furman safety and Atascosita graduate participated in the hometown Texans local prospect day. That included meeting with coach DeMeco Ryans, position coaches and doing some testing and taking a medical exam.It was super nice, Blaylock told KPRC 2. Its kind of surreal. Ive always dreamed to be in the moment, to be in a position to be drafted, or signed to an NFL team, thats been a dream as a kid. Walking up to the facility, I was just soaking it all in like Man, Im right here. Im this much closer to making it and for it to be the hometown team, you cant beat that. Just 30 mhinutes from my house up the road. It was a great experience, and I really enjoyed it."Blaylock, the son of longtime trainer and former New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs running back Derrick Blaylock, was an all-district selection at Atascosita who was twice named the district special teams Most Valuable Player. He returned seven punts-kickoffs for touchdowns and intercepted five passes.Encouraging words from Ryans, a two-time Pro Bowl linebacker and NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, was meaningful to Blaylock. He was just telling us to just relax and enjoy the process like it shouldnt be a stressful process, you shouldnt be uptight, Blaylock said. He was like any shot that you get, whether you get drafted, drafted first round, drafted late round, undrafted, rookie minicamp invite, a shot is a shot. He said, just take advantage of every opportunity you get, and just relax and enjoy the moment. Soak it all in. Be excited, but relax and enjoy it all, because not that many people get this get this opportunity. At Furman, he recorded 76 tackles last season with two interceptions and returned one for a touchdown. He had 4 1/2 tackles for losses for the Paladins. The 5-foot-10, 203-pound Lindenwood transfer also returned punt and kickoffs. At Lindenwood after transferring from Sam Houston State, he had three interceptions in his first season.Im not the biggest guy, not the fastest guy, but Im super instinctive, Blaylock said. I love breaking down a film and watching ways that I can get ahead of somebody. Im studying you. Im breaking it down. Im gonna know your tendencies. When I see something, I react, so Im able to make up for a lot of like, steps in that way. Im super instinctive. Im a smart player, and Im always around the ball. I feel like Im super versatile. I could play any spot in the secondary and special teams. Versatility, instinctive and just being a student of the game.Playing at Atascosita prepared Blaylock well for college football and the next level. Its Texas high school football, he said. Ive seen a lot of talent. Growing up, I played against a lot of talent. When I got to college, it was like I played against a lot of kids in high school that ended up going to big colleges or Division I. So when I got there, it wasnt a surprise, like the game wasnt moving no faster or nothing, like I already knew what to expect. So playing Texas high school football definitely helped mold me into being prepared for this moment.Of course, he had an example to watch from his dad and his experience from the NFL.Man, its super valuable, Blaylock said. Growing up, I didnt know how valuable it was to have a dad that played at the level that I want to get to. I feel like growing up, you dont really see it. The older I got, the more appreciative I was, like, how much he poured into us, just how good of a role model he was for us, like all my brothers. At the Texans local day, the players arrived at 6 a.m. for breakfast followed by medical exams and some work in the weight room, including the force plate and hamstring Nordic tests.Blaylock plans to spend the draft with family.Well be in the living room, chilling. with great spirits, good vibes, food, just enjoying the moment, having fun with it, Blaylock said. Whatever happens, happens. Im a big believer. Im a big religious guy, so I feel like whatever God has in store for me will be, Im not gonna be too uptight about it or too stressed, were gonna be chilling in the living room.Aaron Wilson is a Texans and NFL reporter for KPRC 2 and click2houston.com0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 25 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen -
WWW.GBNEWS.COMMan City ramp pressure up on Arsenal with thumping win over Chelsea at Stamford BridgeManchester City delivered a stunning statement of intent at Stamford Bridge, dismantling Chelsea 3-0 to breathe new life into their Premier League title ambitions.Pep Guardiola's side capitalised brilliantly on Arsenal's shock defeat to Bournemouth the day before, with the travelling supporters gleefully chanting "Are you watching Arsenal" as their team took control. The gap to the Gunners now stands at just six points, and City still have a match in hand.Even more tantalising is what lies ahead a direct showdown with Arsenal at the Etihad that could reshape the entire title picture. It's still in both teams' hands now.Rayan Cherki was absolutely magnificent, orchestrating everything good about City's attacking play and creating all three goals. The French playmaker's delightful cross found Nico O'Reilly six minutes after the break, with the teenager heading home he's developing quite the knack for crucial headers after his brace in the Carabao Cup final victory over Arsenal.Just six minutes later, Cherki weaved his magic again, dancing across the Chelsea penalty area before laying the ball into Marc Guehi's path. The defender made no mistake, finishing with the composure of a striker."Oh he is the man right now, living his BEST life!" Nico O'Reilly stamps his authority at Stamford Bridge with a goal! pic.twitter.com/d7te8cGs5b Sky Sports Premier League (@SkySportsPL) April 12, 2026 Jeremy Doku then completed the rout, bundling home after Cherki helped force Moises Caicedo into an error.Chelsea's misery deepened with this result marking their third straight league loss. The home supporters made their frustrations clear, sarcastically cheering "Ole" as their players passed the ball around aimlessly in the dying moments.Boos rang out at the final whistle too.Liam Rosenior will face serious questions now, with his side sitting four points adrift of Liverpool in the race for that final Champions League qualification spot. The first half had offered some hope Marc Cucurella thought he'd scored before the flag went up for offside, and Pedro Neto looked lively testing Gianluigi Donnarumma. But City's second-half surge exposed the gulf between the sides. The City players were understandably delighted afterwards."We knew there was a lot of pressure before this game against a good opponent," Doku told Sky Sports. "The first half was not easy. They were well-organised and we knew we had to keep on going."He added: "I watched the Arsenal game and when I saw them lose, I saw that the Premier League is really unpredictable."Guehi kept things grounded, saying: "It doesn't really matter" whether Arsenal were watching. "The most important thing is that we did the job today."Cherki, meanwhile, is already looking forward: "Now we can go and play against Arsenal, which is a big game for us."Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter0 Kommentare 0 Geteilt 25 Ansichten 0 Bewertungen -
