SPORTS.YAHOO.COMKasean Pryor is moving on from Louisville basketball, Pat KelseyKasean Pryor is moving on from Louisville basketball. The 6-foot-10 forward is entering the NCAA transfer portal and seeking a waiver for a seventh year of eligibility, according to a report Wednesday from On3's Joe Tipton. Coming off a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee that sidelined him for the final 28 games of the Cardinals' 2024-25 season, Pryor logged 23 appearances off the bench (6.4 minutes per) during Year 2 of the Pat Kelsey era. Pryor's sixth year of eligibility came courtesy of the season he spent in the junior college ranks. Pryor finished the 2025-26 campaign averaging 2.2 points on 41.7% shooting (22.7% from 3-point range) and 1.8 rebounds. The Chicago native's best outing came Dec. 13, when he scored 11 points on 3-for-4 shooting (3 for 3 from beyond the arc) to go along with four rebounds, an assist and a steal across 11 minutes of a win over Memphis at the KFC Yum! Center. That was one of only four games in which Pryor logged 10 or more minutes. He hit his season high of 16 minutes on two occasions: a Nov. 6 win over Jackson State and a Feb. 4 victory over Notre Dame scoring 10 points and grabbing five rebounds in the latter. That game against the Fighting Irish was Pryor's only other double-digit scoring effort. Two days prior, when asked about the forward's limited role to that point, Kelsey said, "Playing time, your role, is developed over time and it's earned. It's up to everybody. Everybody needs to be ready when their name's called.""It looked like he stayed ready tonight," Notre Dame coach Micah Shrewsberry quipped after Pryor's second-half lift powered UofL to a 76-65 win. But, from that point on, the forward tallied more DNPs (four) than shifts longer than five minutes (three). "Dealing with a very serious injury, there's always going to be complications even after healing," Pryor told Cardinal Sports Network play-by-play announcer Paul Rogers after the victory over the Fighting Irish. "The last few weeks, my knee has felt the best it's felt since the injury. Everything's coming back to me now. It was only a matter of time that I got back to playing at this level."Pryor ends his Louisville career averaging 4.5 points on 38.8% shooting (18.2% from 3) and 2.8 rebounds across 10.3 minutes per appearance (30 games, three starts). In the seven games leading up to his knee injury in 2024-25, he was averaging 12 points on 36.8% shooting (15.2% from 3) with 6.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.1 blocks across 23 minutes per. WWW.CLICK2HOUSTON.COMArsenal outlasts Sporting Lisbon to set up Champions League semifinal against Atletico MadridIts back-to-back Champions League semifinals for Arsenal.A 0-0 draw with Sporting Lisbon at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday saw Arsenal advance 1-0 on aggregate to set up a clash with Atletico Madrid in the last four of European club soccers top competition. To go back-to-back is an amazing achievement for this group, Declan Rice told TNT Sports. We want to now go one step further than last year and get to the final.A Premier League and Champions League double remains possible for Mikel Artetas team, despite a slump in form in recent weeks.Bayern Munich beat Real Madrid 4-3 in Wednesday's other second-leg quarterfinal to advance 6-4 on aggregate. The Germans face defending champion Paris Saint-Germain in the semifinals.Arsenal has never won the European Cup and only once reached the final. But it is now just two games away from this years showpiece in Budapest, Hungary.Kai Havertz's late winner in the first leg of the quarterfinals in Portugal last week proved to be decisive as Sporting failed to find a breakthrough in London. It is the fourth time Arsenal has advanced to the semifinals and the first time it has gone back-to-back having lost to eventual winner Paris Saint-Germain at that stage last season. To be part of those (final) four teams, its something very special, Arteta said. It comes down to making the last step. We are making the steps that havent been done in this club for 140 years, so players deserve credit for what theyre doing. The result was the perfect way for Arsenal to start a crucial week in which it also plays Premier League title rival Manchester City on Sunday. There have been signs of the tension getting to Arteta's players as the season enters the closing stages, having lost the English League Cup final against City and then crashing out of the FA Cup at the hands of second-division Southampton.Defeat at home in the league against Bournemouth last weekend only added to the sense that it was faltering at a critical time.Who cares what people think? All that matters is what this group thinks, what the manager thinks and were in another semifinal, Rice said. Bring on the last few weeks. Its a roller coaster, no ones going to hand you anything in this game, so just keep going and, what will be will be.It was another tight encounter between Arsenal and Sporting with chances rare.Substitute Leandro Trossard came closest to winning it for Arsenal on the night by heading against the post late on. Geny Catamo had hit the woodwork for Sporting in the first half.Arsenal and Atletico have already faced each other in the Champions League this season, with the English club winning 4-0 in the league phase.___James Robson is at https://x.com/jamesalanrobson___AP soccer: https://apnews.com/hub/soccer0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 46 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр -
WWW.GBNEWS.COMEFL side set for 15-point deduction from start of next season after setting unwanted relegation recordSheffield Wednesday's prospective purchasers have received formal notification from the English Football League that the club will face a 15-point penalty when they begin their League One campaign next season. The American private equity firm Arise Capital Partners, headed by financier David Storch, emerged as the frontrunner to acquire the Hillsborough outfit.Wednesday's drop to the third tier was sealed back in February, making this the earliest Championship relegation on record.Storch confirmed the sanction in a statement posted on X.TRENDINGStoriesVideosYour SayHe wrote: "We have now been informed that a 15-point penalty is set to be imposed at the start of next season."The punishment stems from EFL regulations requiring any takeover bid to return at least 25 pence in the pound to existing creditors.Arise Capital's 20million offer falls well short of this threshold, amounting to approximately 6p per pound for unsecured creditors.A substantial portion of the club's outstanding debt is owed to departing owner Dejphon Chansiri, who has reportedly declined to write down or restructure what he is owed. The consortium had previously indicated reluctance to pay 15million to Chansiri as part of any deal.Storch stated that repeated attempts to reach a resolution with the former owner through administrators have gone unanswered. The US financier strongly opposed the league's ruling. Storch wrote: "We fundamentally disagree with this decision."LATEST SPORT NEWSReal Madrid icon dies as statement sparks tributes for 'one of greatest legends in world'EFL club announce week-long emergency loan deal ahead of title deciderPremier League side snubs EFL boss and accelerate discussions to appoint former Bundesliga managerHis consortium sought to challenge the penalty through independent arbitration, even offering to cover all legal expenses to promote transparency and fairness, but the EFL rejected this request.Storch highlighted the unusual nature of Wednesday's predicament, noting: "What makes this situation particularly difficult is that it is entirely unique."Beyond the financial disputes, the prospective owner also described Hillsborough's facilities as "inadequate", warning they require "significant and urgent" investment.Despite the mounting obstacles, Storch reassured supporters that the acquisition remains on course for completion by May 1.He said: "Sheffield Wednesday is worth saving. We believe in its supporters, its history, and its future."Storch pledged to invest the necessary time, capital and energy to rebuild the club from its infrastructure to its footballing foundations. The Owls have already suffered 18 points in deductions during the current campaign-12 for entering administration and a further six for breaching financial regulations-leaving them on minus four with four matches remaining.Next term, Wednesday face the prospect of dropping to the fourth tier for the first time in their 149-year existence. Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter0 Комментарии 0 Поделились 47 Просмотры 0 предпросмотр -
