Michael van Gerwen gives emphatic view on Luke Littler row ahead of Premier League night 11
Michael van Gerwen has given his view on Luke Littler and Gian van Veen's bust-up in Manchester ahead of night 11 in the Premier League of Darts.Speaking ahead of its return in Rotterdam, the Dutchman feels the incident has been overblown, explaining that such moments happen at the top level of the sport. The flashpoint occurred when Littler appeared to celebrate after Van Veen missed a match dart, before gesturing for his opponent to return to the oche.Their encounter concluded with an icy handshake, with further exchanges continuing on social media afterwards.TRENDINGStoriesVideosYour SaySpeaking ahead of his match against Jonny Clayton, who leads the Premier League table, Van Gerwen explained that these situations have happened several times before. He said: "Listen, you all know there have been a million incidents over the years."People like to make a story out of it. People love to write about things, try to make them bigger and try to get answers out of you."I've done enough interviews to know what you want to hear from me, but I'm not going to say it. Nothing really happened."LATEST DEVELOPMENTSLiv Golf chief provides major update on future of controversial tourImane Khelif suffers major setback as statement issued by boxing chiefEngland star targeted by three clubs ahead of World Cup bidComparing the moment to his clashes with 16-time World Champion Phil Taylor, Van Gerwen said: I'd have been in the papers every week with Phil Taylor. It's also emotion. Things like that happen."Littler has denied celebrating the missed dart, but Van Veen remains firm in his assessment that the world champion's conduct was "childish".Nevertheless, the Dutchman harbours no hard feelings towards his rival and is content to draw a line under things. Asked whether they needed to clear the air, Van Veen replied: "It's a difficult one. Like for myself, not really. He said his piece the other day."I still have the same view as I had two weeks ago when it all happened, and if he wants to bury the hatchet, then fine."I don't have any hard feelings towards him, and I don't know how it is the other way around, but we'll see how it goes."He's got his opinion, and he's entitled to it. I still have mine, I still have the same opinion as I had two weeks ago, straight after the incident happened."I've looked back at it, I've seen the videos, and I still stand by my opinion, and you know, it is what it is, and we'll just have to go forward with it."The rivalry could be renewed in the semi-final this evening, where Van Veen would have home advantage. The 23-year-old sees the possibility of a future friendship with Littler and hopes the pair can face each other again soon.Asked whether they could be friends, he said: "For sure. Like I said, there's no hard feeling from my side."It's all happening in the heat of the moment and of course, you know, he's got his opinion, I've got mine but yeah, that's how it goes."Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter

Las Vegas pricing problem' is scaring off tourists from 'greatest city in the world,' says Rick Harrison
Tourism in Las Vegas continues to decline with about 38.5 million visitors last year, a 7.5% drop from 2024, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCA).Rick Harrison of the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas and of "Pawn Stars" TV fame told Fox News Digital that his store experienced record-breaking months in both January and February of this year."You give customers what they want, and they return," he said in an interview. "A lot of hotels on the Strip they're not hospitals where you have to go to them. There are choices out there. So, they're changing their pricing around."RICK HARRISON OF PAWN STARS SAYS GAMBLING ISN'T DYING EVEN AS LAS VEGAS POKER ROOMS CLOSE ONE BY ONEHarrison said some of the casinos that are "really hot" and "always packed" such as Circa Resort & Casino are busy because they "don't have crazy prices on everything."He added, "I don't have crazy prices, and that's what [some of the other] casinos need to do. Some casinos have always been doing that, and that is why they are doing well."He said a big part of the success for Vegas venues in terms of drawing in tourists is customer experience."I have a pawn shop. I changed it into a tourist destination, and people for years [said], You get thousands of people a day at the store, you should charge them something. I'm going, No, because I want them to come to the store," said Harrison.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR OUR LIFESTYLE NEWSLETTERHe noted that back in the day, the price of hotel rooms, food and experiences were not as high making trips to Sin City more attainable for most Americans."I want to make sure all of my [visitors] have smiling faces, that they have a great time," he said. "So when they go back to Ohio or Alabama or something, they tell their friends, 'Next time you're in Vegas, you really should go to Rick's Pawn Shop.'"Harrison said he's seen some casinos dropping their prices and offering more deals to tourists, such as modified all-inclusives. Many officials, hotel owners and travel experts have cited a drop in Canadian tourism as a major reason tourism numbers have been down.Circa Resort& Casino, for its part, has launched an "at par" promotion making the exchange rate for Canadians equal at its properties.CLICK HERE FOR MORE LIFESTYLE STORIES"Canadian [visitors] are down anywhere from 20% to 50%, depending on what month you look at over the course of the last year," casino owner Derek Stevens previously told Fox News Digital.Harrison said he's seeing a decline in Asian tourism right now. "I don't think that's necessarily [about] Las Vegas. I think that's currency issues and economic issues."Rising gas prices, driven by oil hovering at nearly $100 per barrel amid the war with Iran, are creating uncertainty for the summer tourism season.Harrison said gas in Las Vegas is over five dollars a gallon currently.TEST YOURSELF WITH OUR LATEST LIFESTYLE QUIZ"The problem is we get our gasoline from California refineries, so it's a couple of dollars less than California, because California's got a crazy tax on everything but that is tough in Nevada right now," he said.He said California residents provide a large part of tourist revenue in Las Vegas."This is still the greatest city in the world. Its amazing living here," said Harrison."I will talk to my wife and [ask], Which concert would you like to see this weekend? OK? [That's] not like most cities where you wait for a band to come to town. [In Vegas,] there's always something going on."
