SPORTS.YAHOO.COMDodgers Suffer Blow as Shohei Ohtani May Miss Giants Series FinaleLos Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani could end up resting on Thursday afternoon after making his pitching start on Wednesday.Ohtani is hitting and pitching on Wednesday, leading off and starting for the Dodgers, something he has not done in a week. Last time he took the mound against the New York Mets on Jackie Robinson Day, the Japanese star was out of the lineup as the Dodgers wanted to take it easy on his body after getting hit by a pitch in the back. However, he has not missed a game since his start against the Mets, appearing in the lineup every day and continuing to grow his on-base streak. Apr 21, 2026; San Francisco, California, USA; Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani (17) warms up before a game against the San Francisco Giants at Oracle Park. Mandatory Credit: D. Ross Cameron-Imagn ImagesBefore Ohtanis start on Wednesday, Roberts left open the possibility of giving him a day off tomorrow given the afternoon start time, according to Jack Harris of The California Post. Ohtani is known for his resistance to time off, wanting to play as much as possible. Still, he has seemingly been prioritizing his pitching appearances and has been open to resting on his pitching days, as evidenced by Roberts comments.Even last season, Ohtani likely would have pushed to pitch and hit once he returned as a pitcher, but he is seemingly playing the long game, avoiding excessive wear on his body so he can keep pitching. View this post on InstagramA post shared by Dodgers Nation (@dodgersnation)Who replaces Shohei Ohtani in the lineup? The Dodgers have a good deal of options to move into the designated hitter spot, namely Dalton Rushing, who is making back-up catcher appearances and has played at first base when Freddie Freeman left the team and designated hitter against the Mets, when Rushing hit a home run, one of his seven. Other alternatives are Teoscar Hernandez, who is one of the weaker defensive outfielders, or potentially moving a starter like Max Muncy to DH and letting Santiago Espinal get some game time at third base. Rushing, though, is the clearest option, as he has been one of the best hitters in baseball, albeit in a small sample size, and Will Smith gets to remain in the order. Since Tyler Glasnow is pitching and the Dodgers like to attach a catcher to a pitcher, Smith would stay behind the dish, and Rushing takes over at DH.Regardless of who fills in, Ohtani is missed in the order. He is someone pitchers fear, as evidenced by their pitch selection and hesitance to throw strikes, and he offers speed on the bases, along with the possibility of giving Kyle Tucker good looks at pitchers. What do you think about Ohtani getting some rest amid a consistent run of games on the road?0 Comments 0 Shares 38 Views 0 Reviews

WWW.FOXSPORTS.COMUrban Meyer Shares What Makes Ohio State's NFL Draft Stars SpecialWhen the 2026 NFL Draft begins Thursday night in Pittsburgh, Ohio State is expected to dominate the spotlight. The Buckeyes could have multiple players selected inside the top 10, putting the program at the center of one of the biggest storylines of the first round. If anyone understands the level of talent coming out of Columbus, its former Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer. He joined "The Herd" with Colin Cowherd on Wednesday afternoon to preview the upcoming draft, highlighting three Ohio State stars who could hear their names called early. That group includes linebackers Arvell Reese and Sonny Styles, along with wide receiver Carnell Tate, all projected to be top-10 selections. Meyer believes each prospect has the tools to make an immediate impact at the next level, but he was especially vocal about Reeses upside. "The guy is only 20 years old," Meyer said. "The guy's an absolute freak. A lot of it obviously depends on the organization and what theyre going to run, but Arvell Reese can play safety, that's what I heard. When you watch him run around, thats how fast and athletic he is." Meyer also pointed to Reeses versatility and untapped potential as reasons why he could become one of the biggest steals of the draft. "Hes a great blitzer, especially from standing up," Meyers said. "Then if you develop him, hes 20 years old and at some point I would imagine theyll teach and put their hand in the ground and be one of the best pass rushers out there. I dont know how you dont take Arvell Reese as soon as you get him on an NFL roster." Even with Reeses immense potential at the next level, its Styles who Meyer believes can be a true game changer. He focused on it going beyond Styles athleticism and talent, pointing instead to the winning mentality and leadership qualities he brings to an NFL locker room. "I felt strong about Sonny Styles and his performance at the combine and his workouts have been historical," Meyers said. "Im biased because I know about this kid. I know what he is. I know what a locker room player is, and hes a winner in everything he does. Im very high on Sonny Styles." Outside of the defensive talent, Tate brings major upside at a position expected to come off the board early in the draft. The Buckeyes have also built one of the strongest reputations in college football for developing NFL-ready wide receivers. Despite some concerns surrounding Tates game, Meyer still believes hes the top receiver in this years draft class. "He was a one-year wonder," Meyer said. "You kind of heard about him and everybody wanted to see him develop. He was a guy that you werent really sure about being a first-rounder, but thats what happens with young players. He is, without question, the best receiver in the draft."0 Comments 0 Shares 29 Views 0 Reviews -
