WWW.FOXSPORTS.COMGot Beef: Kyle Busch-Denny Hamlin Back & Forth EscalatesOh look, Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch keep talking about each other. Where is that eating-popcorn emoji when you need it? Buschs season is on a skid. He sits 27th in the Cup standings and his status as a free agent after this year is questionable. So it's no surprise that the talk about the future of the two-time Cup champion is a hot topic. Hamlin talked about Busch at length on his "Actions Detrimental" podcast on April 13. Busch then reacted during his media scrum Saturday at Kansas. Hamlin, on the FOX pre-race show, addressed those comments last Sunday. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver is a former Busch teammate, as Busch drove 15 seasons for JGR. Hamlin pretty much avoided the topic on his podcast on Monday. But Busch was on Sean Hannitys "Hang Out With Sean Hannity" podcast this week talking even more about Hamlin. Among the initial comments from Hamlin were him calling out Buschs performance, even comparing it to Busch's RCR teammate Austin Dillon who is 25th in the standings. "Clearly, RCR is not good right now. But youre a Hall of Fame, Mount Rushmore driver. Carry it better than your teammate then. If youre the greatest, then carry it better than your teammate whos won 10 races [in his career]. Find a way. I think that thats what he should be able to do. But its not happening. Its time to be honest about whats going on. I think hes searching. I think that he doesnt know how to get the speed out of the Next Gen car on a consistent basis." The drivers certainly have had their run-ins, but there had been mutual respect between the two. Hamlin, who has 61 career Cup wins and sits two victories behind Busch, said, "I cant hold the guys helmet talent-wise." And few would think that Busch is happy about getting outrun by Hamlin especially considering Hamlin was able to stay at JGR but Busch couldnt get a deal done to remain with the team after M&Ms left following the 2022 season. "If Denny wants to switch cars, Ill switch cars with him any day of the week, any time. I would love for him to show he can carry it better than I can," Busch told The Athletic's Jeff Gluck on Saturday at Kansas. "In this instance, I dont feel like Denny Hamlin even knows what hes talking about. He can bash me all he wants, and I can certainly make his life hell." Hamlin was asked on the FOX pre-race show on Sunday about giving his opinion on his podcast while knowing there could be retribution for it. "I felt like I was being gentle in trying to share the blame all around because I think theres enough to go around," Hamlin said. "I know this: I was teammates with Kyle Busch. And I know he taught me by far more than any teammate I ever was with. "The reason Im decent on these mile-and-a-halfs is because of Kyle Busch. I know what hes capable of, and I know hes not loving where hes at because he is a tough competitor. I am rooting for him because the sport needs the old Kyle Busch." Busch, on Hannitys show, said he doesnt talk to Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano and Carson Hocevar. And then he was asked about Hamlin. "He has got his own podcast, and hes been running his mouth lately. So he might get run into again soon," Busch told Hannity. "Hes been telling me that Im washed up and I cant drive anymore ... He wants to say I cant drive this new Next Gen race car, and Im falling behind and Im slow and whatever old-man syndrome." Both Busch and Hamlin said over the last couple of weeks that the bigger teams were able to separate themselves from RCR since the introduction of the Next Gen car. RCR was initially strong, Busch said on the Hannity show, because it played a pivotal role in the development of the car. He also said after his third win for the team in 2023, that NASCAR saw something in the gray area that RCR was doing that it didnt like and told the team it wouldn't be allowed at future races. "[RCR] were ahead of the game. They were ahead of everybody else [in 2022]," Busch explained. "As everybody has learned this car, the little tricks of the trade, the little things that youve got to do, now the Gibbs and Penskes and the Hendricks have got it all figured out. And they are the top teams and we havent really come up with any more advancements to it. "And so weve fallen behind." On his podcast, Hamlin addressed the Busch situation briefly, as his producers were asking him who is the hardest driver to root for right now. They laughed, knowing that it was a way to talk about Busch. "I was as gentle as I felt like I should have been. ... Im rooting for him," Hamlin said, before referring to Busch by his car number. "Lets go 8."0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 62 Visualizações 0 Anterior -

WWW.FOXSPORTS.COM2026 NFL Draft: Why The Rams Known For 'F Them Picks' Go All Out With Draft HouseIt makes sense that an L.A. native is the originator of the Los Angeles Rams draft house someone intimately familiar with the diverse landscape of the city. Lexi vonderLieth, senior vice president of brand for the Rams, is the brainchild of the draft house. She joined the franchise in 2019, pitching the concept as a big swing to lure sponsors for the franchise. The Rams draft house spawned during the restless months of the COVID-19 pandemic, when NFL teams made draft picks from living rooms and garages at home. "At the time, people were having these TikTok houses and Airbnb had these really cool branded houses," vonderLieth told me. "We came up with the concept of drafting from a house. It fit our strategy so much because there was always that narrative that we draft differently. But thats so inside football, so we were trying to figure out how do you commercialize that a little bit. "The year before, during COVID, we actually learned that you could do it from peoples houses. That was also the learning that, All right, we saw that people were doing it from the garages and living rooms, we can probably do this at a house." In five years, the draft house has grown into a signature, tent-pole event for the franchise that has gained national attention, raising the profile of a team fighting for eyeballs in the ultra-competitive L.A. sports landscape. The NFL is led by paranoid, risk-averse front office types concerned about leaking any morsel of information, but the flexibility and outside-the-box thinking of general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay created an opportunity for the Rams. "We are pretty innovative around here nothing a lot more than that," Snead said when I asked him about the draft house during the team's recent pre-draft Zoom press conference. "It was that [business] side of the building wanting to add a little more oomph to the draft and the date on the calendar where it brings our fans together for this moment." For the first time this year, the Rams draft house is open to the public a fan-facing, interactive experience at Hollywood Park in Inglewood near SoFi Stadium. In a preview to the draft and introduction of revamped uniforms, the Rams put together an homage to the popular "Friday" movie called "Thursday," which includes cameos by Ice Cubes son (OShea Jackson Jr.), Chris Tuckers son (Destin Tucker) and Rams pass rusher Jared Verse. The Rams launched their first draft house in Malibu. They usually look at 10 homes before picking a house, with IT support staff and football brass getting a close look at the homes before making a final decision. The Rams also must meet league specifications, including having a camera in the draft room for live look-ins. That marketing campaign at Malibu included a video of actress Rebel Wilson touring the teams new digs with McVay, Snead and current players. "Malibu the first year was sort of the shock and awe that were drafting from a house, and we needed that L.A. view of a beach," vonderLieth told me. "And we really wanted to give that view to fans. We knew the TV cameras would be picking that up, and we knew most teams were going to go back to drafting at the facility, so to have this unique view was really important." The following year, after winning the Super Bowl, the Rams relocated the draft house to the Hollywood Hills, with awe-inspiring views of downtown Los Angeles. Three years ago, after experiencing a Super Bowl hangover and finishing 5-12, the Rams moved to the San Fernando Valley in Encino, creating a video called "Change the Equation" with a theme of the team going back to the lab. The Rams had their first fan event at Hermosa Beach, a hotbed location for season-ticket holders. The Rams placed a 60-yard replica of the turf field at SoFi Stadium for fans to enjoy in the sand and hosted a draft house with a view of the beach. However, tragedy led to the Rams shifting to more of a community-focused event last year, with the Los Angeles wildfires forcing the Rams to host their NFC Wild Card game against the Minnesota Vikings in Arizona. In honor of the people affected by the devastating fires that ravaged Altadena and Pacific Palisades, the Rams partnered with the Los Angeles Fire Department, converting the LAFD Air Operations in Van Nuys into the teams draft headquarters sponsored by Zillow. "The coolest situation that weve been a part of was last year being with the firefighters and all the different things in our community," McVay said when I asked him about the Rams' draft house during the team's Zoom pre-draft call. "Les and I were actually talking about that. The other stuff was fun. That was more meaningful and impactful. I thought that was really special." According to vonderLieth, she learned about the Air Operations facility from her son, who played hockey with two helicopter pilots who worked out of the facility. "It was probably the easiest sell," vonderLieth told me. "Everyone got on board and our players were the most engaged in that one. We had lunch with L.A. F.D. and all the players wanted to be there to celebrate with the guys." What started as amplifying the L.A.s innovative "F them picks" approach to player acquisition has morphed into annual community celebrations for fans on draft weekend. "Inglewood has been on the radar as a place we wanted to go, but it made the most sense this year for a few reasons. Obviously, it is our home. But its a great way to start the season with the draft at our home and, hopefully, we are ending the season here in the Super Bowl," vonderLieth said as SoFi Stadium will host Super Bowl LXI next February. "I do see this as a fan event moving forward. Hopefully, we see the success of it this week, how our fans are reacting, coming down and celebrating with us."0 Comentários 0 Compartilhamentos 60 Visualizações 0 Anterior -
