2026 NFL Draft grades: Is Caleb Downs to the Cowboys the Biggest Steal?
What had been mocked everywhere for months became official Thursday night: The Las Vegas Raiders selected quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. And then draft day really began in Pitsburgh. Stick with us, as I'll be analyzing and grading every selection in real time. 1. Las Vegas Raiders: Fernando Mendoza, QB, Indiana Rang: An ideal fit for the Raiders both from a physical and intangible perspective, Mendoza isnt just the right pick, hes the perfect one. His prototypical size, pre- and post-snap recognition and accuracy from both the pocket and on the move should make him a star in Klint Kubiaks offense. Even better, Mendoza has composure on and off the field needed for a team based in a city with the many, varied distractions of Las Vegas. Grade: A 2. New York Jets: David Bailey, Edge, Texas Tech Rang: Bailey: Finishing dead last in the AFC in sacks, the Jets made the right choice to add this years top pass-rusher. Baileys burst and bend off the edge is elite. He is a realistic Defensive Rookie of the Year candidate who projects as a 10-plus sack-a-year difference-maker. Grade: A 3.Arizona Cardinals: Jeremiyah Love, RB, Notre Dame Rang: Throw out the narrative about positional value, Loves ability to immediately boost Mike LaFleurs offense justifies this selection. Frankly, GM Monti Ossenfort needed a slam dunk and Love should provide it. His creativity, elusiveness and breakaway speed have earned comparisons to NFL superstars like Saquon Barkley and Bijan Robinson from scouts traveling through South Bend for the past two years. Critics, of course, have a point about the fact that drafting a running back this year comes with zero salary relief something that typically occurs with rookies. Love could be the best running back in the NFL next year, but the Cardinals will already be paying him close to that, regardless. Grade: B+ 4. Tennessee Titans: Carnell Tate, WR, Ohio State Rang: It's our first "upset" of the night, but two people certainly not upset with this selection are Titans quarterback Cam Ward and offensive coordinator Brian Daboll. Head coach Robert Saleh and Daboll were both fired from recent head-coaching positions because their respective offenses struggled to score. Tate isnt an elite athlete, but his frame, speed and tracking skills help him project as a legitimate No. 1 candidate. Grade: B+ 5. New York Giants: Arvell Reese, Edge, Ohio State Rang: This is a fascinating selection for the Giants, as Reese gives the Giants as formidable a trio of edge rushers as there is in the NFL, teaming, of course, with recent top-10 selections Abdul Carter and Kayvon Thibodeaux. Reeses ability to play the off-ball linebacker position, as well as project as a dynamic pass-rusher gives head coach John Harbaugh and defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson an awful lot of flexibility. And unlike some of the coaches who passed on Reese, Harbaugh has the security to give him time to develop. Grade: A- 6. Kansas City Chiefs (via Browns): Mansoor Delane, CB, LSU Rang: I love the Chiefs bold decision to trade up for Delane, who would not have lasted until No. 9 overall given the way the board changed once the Titans surprisingly took wideout Carnell Tate. While the gap between Delane and the No. 2 cornerback isn't quite as big as it is at the QB and RB positions, he is unquestionably the best corner in this class and the Chiefs desperately needed to address this position. Grade: A 7. Washington Commanders: Sonny Styles, LB, Ohio State Rang: Both in Seattle and most recently in Washington, Dan Quinn was blessed to have future Hall of Famer Bobby Wagner at middle linebacker. Remarkably, Quinn will now have an even better athlete in the middle of his Commanders defense in Styles. There are only a few linebackers in NFL history with Styles combination of size and speed Hall of Famer Brian Urlacher comes to mind. Washington needed to find an alpha on defense and Styles should prove to be that immediately. Grade: A 8. New Orleans Saints: Jordyn Tyson, WR, Saints Rang: GM Mickey Loomis has never been one to shy from aggressive picks, and the selection of Tyson is certainly that. Critics will point out his struggles with durability, but his tape is excellent. This is a pick about potential, but also an affirmation of Tyler Shough and head coach Kellen Moore. If Tyson stays healthy, hell be a star thats a significant "if" though, capping this grade. Grade: B 9. Cleveland Browns (via Chiefs): Spencer Fano, OT, Utah Rang: The Browns desperately needed to find a left tackle and a wide receiver from this draft, and with the top two wideouts already off the board, Clevelands choice was clear. It will be fascinating to see how well Fano plays in comparison to Tyson who, of course, the Browns traded away the opportunity to draft. Fanos size and agility should make him the Browns day one starter at left tackle. Grade: B 10. New York Giants (from Bengals): Francis Mauigoa, OT, Miami Rang: Mauigoa starred at right tackle for The U, but I believe the Giants will move him inside to right guard. His girth and power make him an ideal fit for New York, a club looking to adopt the run-heavy attack John Harbaugh preferred at Baltimore. I actually like this fit even better than Spencer Fano in Cleveland one pick earlier despite the left tackle position being more valued than interior blockers. Grade: A 11. Dallas Cowboys (from Dolphins): Caleb Downs, S, Ohio State Rang: The Cowboys allowed an NFC-worst 35 passing touchdowns a year ago, and Downs is the player in this draft best equipped to fix that issue. His remarkable instincts and speed were obvious since his true freshman season, and they're why I had him as the best player in this draft. Critics will argue that Downs didnt generate enough big plays, but smart quarterbacks simply stopped throwing the ball anywhere near him. The Cowboys needed a new sheriff in the secondary and they just got him. Grade:A 12. Miami Dolphins (from Cowboys): Kadyn Proctor, OT, Alabama 13. Los Angeles Rams (from Falcons) 14. Baltimore Ravens 15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 16. New York Jets (from Colts) 17. Detroit Lions 18: Minnesota Vikings 19: Carolina Panthers 20: Dallas Cowboys (from Packers) 21: Pittsburgh Steelers 22: Los Angeles Chargers 23: Philadelphia Eagles 24: Cleveland Browns (from Jaguars) 25: Chicago Bears 26: Buffalo Bills 27: San Francisco 49ers 28: Houston Texans 29: Kansas City Chiefs (from Rams) 30: Miami Dolphins (from Broncos) 31: New England Patriots 32: Seattle Seahawks

Best available OL in 2026 NFL Draft: Updated results, top prospects still on board
Best available OL in 2026 NFL Draft: Updated results, top prospects still on board originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here. The NFL Draft has arrived. No more conjecture or hypothetical. Five months of preparations and the biggest job interview in the world will now become real.Viewers have become accustomed to certain similarities. The best quarterbacks, edge rushers, offensive linemen and cornerbacks are towards the top, while running backs, safeties and linebackers are less prioritized at the top. In 2026, they throw out almost all the positional tendencies and trends. The offensive line is one of the more intriguing position groups in this draft. Like most groups, OL has no Joe Thomas. That one elite guy at the top. The top 6 tackles bring something different, but almost all have one factor teams will have to consider. Side specific (LT vs RT), some have limited starting snaps, some are undersized. The offensive line group may not have anyone we will call the best offensive lineman in the league a few years from now, but it has several players that could be decade-plus starters.Best available OL in 2026 NFL DraftNameSchoolHTWTRangePickTeamFrancis MauigoaMiami6'6315Rd 110GiantsMonroe FreelingGeorgia6'7315Rd 1Spencer FanoUtah6'6308Rd 19BrownsKadyn ProctorAlabama6'7366Rd 1-212DolphinsCaleb LomuUtah6'6308Rd 1-2Max IheanachorASU6'6330Rd 1-2Olaivavega IoanePenn St6'4328Rd 1-2Chase BisontisTexas A&M6'5315Rd 2Emmanuel PregnonOregon6'5318Rd 2Blake MillerClemson6'6315Rd 2-3Gennings DunkerIowa6'5315Rd 2-3Caleb TiernanNorthwestern6'7325Rd 2-3Jude BowryBoston College6'5311Rd 2-3Keylan RutledgeGT6'4330Rd 2-3Jalen FarmerKentucky6'5318Rd 2-3Markel BellMIami6'9345Rd 2-4Austin BarberFlorida6'6314Rd 2-4Conner LewAuburn6'3303Rd 2-4Fa'alili Fa'amoeWake Forest6'5317Rd 3-4Brian Parker IIDuke6'5305Rd 3-4JC DavisIllinois6'5335Rd 3-4Fernando CarmonaClemson6'6310Rd 3-4Febechi NwaiwuOklahoma6'5310Rd 3-4Beau StephensIowa6'5315Rd 3-4Micah MorrisGeorgia6'4330Rd 3-4Dametrious CrownoverTexas A&M6'7336Rd 3-5Drew SheltonPenn St6'5308Rd 3-5Kage CaseyBoise St6'5311Rd 3-5Diego PoundsOle Miss6'6335Rd 3-5Jeremiah WrightAuburn6'5348Rd 3-5DJ CampbellTexas6'3321Rd 3-5Sam HechtKansas St6'4300Rd 3-5Jake SlaughterFlorida6'4303Rd 3-5Aamil WagnerNotre Dame6'6300Rd 4-6Keagan TrostMissouri6'4316Rd 4-6Ar'maj Reed-AdamsTexas A&M6'5325Rd 4-6Trey Zuhn IIITexas A&M6'6319Rd 4-6Logan TaylorBoston College6'7312Rd 4-6Jaedon RobertsAlabama6'5327Rd 4-6Pat CooganIndiana6'5311Rd 4-6Logan JonesIowa6'3302Rd 4-6Enrique Cruz JrKansas6'6320Rd 5-7Alex HarkeyOregon6'6327Rd 5-7Carver WillisWashington6'5291Rd 5-7Billy SchrauthNotre Dame6'4310Rd 5-7Anez CooperMiami6'6350Rd 5-7Garrett DiGiorgioUCLA6'7320Rd 5-7Joshua BraunKentucky6'6342Rd 5-7Evan BeerntsenNorthwestern6'4310Rd 5-7Jager BurtonKentucky6'4323Rd 5-7Parker BrailsfordAlabama6'2290Rd 5-7Social media reactions to OL selections in 2026 NFL DraftThe @MiamiDolphins make OL Kadyn Proctor the 12th overall pick!2026 NFL Draft starts on NFLN/ESPN/ABCStream on @NFLPluspic.twitter.com/A5nyDW1CzV NFL (@NFL) April 24, 20262026 NFL Draft How to WatchThe 2026 NFL draft kicks off at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday in Pittsburgh (ESPN, ABC and NFL Network-- available on Fubo), The Las Vegas Raiders will likely select Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 overall pick.More 2026 NFL Draft news:21 burning questions before the 2026 NFL Draft10 steals projected after top 50 picks in 2026 NFL DraftWhy NFL Draft trades will be less likely in 20262026 NFL Draft:Six pairs of players, same position, same team2026 NFL Draft stock reports: Who's trending up and down

2026 NFL Draft: Meet Mansoor Delane, the CB the Chiefs Traded Up to Take at No. 6
One of college footballs best cornerbacks is heading to the Kansas City Chiefs after being selected with the No. 6 overall pick. Mansoor Delane only played one season with LSU after transferring from Virginia Tech, but he made it count. Hes coming off a strong season in which he was named a unanimous All-American and First-Team All-SEC, while also being a finalist for the Jim Thorpe Award. He brings a physical, versatile presence, able to lock down receivers in man coverage and make plays on the ball. Heres what else to know about Delane. Stats Delane had 45 tackles (28 solo), two interceptions and 11 pass deflections at LSU this past season. What FOX Sports draft analysts have said about Delane FOX lead draft analyst Rob Rang ranked Delane as his No. 10 overall prospect in his top 150 ranking. Its not just the skill set he brings to the league that stood out, but the do-it-all ability that he showed with the Tigers last season. "Cornerback may just be the strongest positional group of this draft, and Delane tops it by a wide margin for me," Rang wrote. "He is a terrific man-to-man cover corner, showing easy change of direction and smooth acceleration to shadow receivers all over the field. He didnt allow a single touchdown pass in 2025." FOX lead college football analyst Joel Klatt ranked Delane as his No. 10 overall prospect in his top 50 ranking. Its not just the skill set he brings to the league that stood out, but its his physicality and smoothness that his game brings. "Delane is my top corner in the draft," Klatt wrote. "Hes an All-American out of LSU. Hes also a do-it-all corner. What I love about him is that hes not afraid to be physical both in the pass game, and hell come up and be a great tackler. I think every great corner needs to be willing to step in there and get physical along the edge. He absolutely has that. Hes also very smooth in coverage. Delane is almost certainly going to get selected in the top 10." Team Fit The Chiefs were in desperate need of secondary help after trading cornerback Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams and losing cornerback Jaylen Watson in free agency. Now, Delane has the potential to be the Chiefs' top cornerback for years to come. Draft Grade Rang gave the Chiefs' selection of Delane an A.

Ravens take Penn State guard Olaivavega Ioane with 14th pick, opting to shore up offensive line
OWINGS MILLS, Md. (AP) The Baltimore Ravens took Penn State guard Olaivavega Ioane with the 14th pick in the draft Thursday night.Ioane fills an obvious need for the Ravens, who had problems in the middle of the offensive line last season and then lost star center Tyler Linderbaum to free agency. There were other possible options Miami pass rusher Rueben Bain Jr. was still available but ultimately Baltimore ended up with a player that was expected to be one of its targets all along.Despite a disappointing season for Penn State, Ioane was a second-team All-American.The Ravens went 8-9 last season, missed the playoffs and then fired coach John Harbaugh. They shored up one obvious need the pass rush by signing Trey Hendrickson in free agency. They almost didn't have the 14th pick. They agreed to send two first-round picks to the Raiders for Maxx Crosby, then backed out of that deal before it became official.___AP NFL: https://apnews.com/NFL
