SPORTS.YAHOO.COMTracking Patriots' UDFA signings after 2026 NFL DraftThe 2026 NFL Draft ending means the New England Patriots will now turn their attention toward the hordes of undrafted rookie free agents floating on the market. They did a tremendous job of addressing specific needs in the draft, most notably by trading up to get Utah offensive tackle Caleb Lomu in the first round and Illinois edge rusher Gabe Jacas in the second round. They also came away with the most complete tight end prospect in the entire draft with the No. 95 overall pick, Notre Dame's Eli Raridon. However, the team still has work to do when it comes to the overall depth at multiple positions, including linebacker, edge rusher, offensive line, defensive line and safety. They might also continue to look for another wide receiver, but the expectation is that they will agree to a trade for Philadelphia Eagles star wide receiver A.J. Brown on or after June 1. With that said, the undrafted rookies are going to have an opportunity to step onto the field and compete for a job. Efton Chism III, Elijah Ponder and even Lan Larison, before the injury, were all undrafted free agents who impressed last season. Who will fall into that category this year? Patriots Wire has you covered as we track all of the undrafted rookie free agents who end up signing with New England.Patriots 2026 UDFA signingsOL Jacob Rizy (Source)This article originally appeared on Patriots Wire: Tracking Patriots' UDFA signings after 2026 NFL Draft0 Comments 0 Shares 71 Views 0 Reviews

WWW.FOXSPORTS.COMRed Sox Fire Manager Alex Cora, Members of Coaching Staff Amid Poor StartAlex Cora's tenure as manager of the Boston Red Sox is over, and several members of his staff are out of a job, too. The Red Sox fired Cora, hitting coach Peter Fatse, bench coach Rmon Vazquez, third base coach Kyle Hudson and assistant hitting coach Dillon Lawson amid the team's 10-17 start to the 2026 season on Saturday, the team announced. Game planning and run prevention coach Jason Varitek has been reassigned to a new role within the organization, the team also shared. While the move came hours after the Red Sox defeated the Baltimore Orioles, 17-1, they had suffered a 10-3 loss on Friday after getting swept by the New York Yankees. "Alex Cora led this organization to one of the greatest seasons in Red Sox history in 2018, and for that, and the many years that followed, he will always have our deepest gratitude," Red Sox principal owner John Henry said in a statement. "He has had a lasting impact on this team and on this city. He has led on and off the field in so many important ways. These decisions are never easy, but this one is especially difficult given what Alex has meant to the Red Sox since the day he arrived. "I want to thank Alex, our coaches, and their families for everything they have given to this organization. They have been part of this club in a way that goes beyond the field, and they will always have our respect and gratitude." Cora, 50, was in the midst of his second tenure as the team's manager. He was previously the manager of the Red Sox for two seasons, helping the team win the World Series in 2018 before leaving the team for the 2020 season due to his role in the Houston Astros' cheating scandal. Cora was re-hired by the Red Sox following the 2020 season. Cora's second tenure as Boston's manager was a bit bumpy. He helped the Red Sox reach the ALCS in 2021, where they lost to the Houston Astros in six games. But Boston finished in last place in the American League East in the 2022 and 2023 seasons before going 81-81 in 2024. The Red Sox were able to make it to the postseason in 2025, going 89-73. However, they lost to the New York Yankees in the wild-card series, falling in three games. Even though the Red Sox lost star third baseman Alex Bregman over the offseason, the Red Sox were expected to be among the top teams in the American League in 2026. But they've spent the majority of the opening month of the season well below .500 as they've underperformed in all facets of the game. They were 26th in runs scored and 24th in ERA entering Saturday. Boston's top players haven't played up to expectations, either. Outfielder Roman Anthony has hit just .225 with a home run as he's recently battled a back injury. Ace Garrett Crochet had a 7.88 ERA before Saturday's start against the Orioles, in which he threw six scoreless innings. With Anthony and Crochet struggling, FOX Sports MLB writer Rowan Kavner recently attributed Boston's struggles to its lack of power at the plate and its starting pitching. "The Red Sox are last in MLB in slugging percentage, expected slugging percentage and home runs, and they have the lowest OPS in the American League," Kavner wrote on Thursday. "Theyve been too passive at the plate theyre 29th in zone swing percentage and thats especially been a problem for Roman Anthony, who has the fourth-lowest zone swing % in MLB. Anthony, who hit 42% better than league average as a rookie last year and started for Team USA in the WBC, has been a league average hitter this year and has just one home run and four RBI, and hes now dealing with back tightness. Jarren Duran, a 2024 All-Star, is slashing .194/.266/.306, all career lows. "Bostons rotation was viewed as one of the deepest in the game this year after adding Sonny Gray and Ranger Surez, and so far it hasnt performed anywhere close to expectations," Kavner added. "Red Sox starters rank 26th in ERA and 24th in WHIP and batting average against. Gray has the lowest strikeout rate of his career and is now out with a hamstring strain. Surez has also seen his strikeout rate decline precipitously, and the master of soft contact is allowing the highest hard-hit rate of his career. Brayan Bello has an ERA over 6.00. Most glaringly, though, Cy Young hopeful Garrett Crochet has a 7.88 ERA through five starts. And to make matters worse, Kutter Crawford and Patrick Sandoval, who were on the rehab trail, are both currently shut down." The Red Sox sit 7.5 games back of the first-place Yankees as of Saturday afternoon.0 Comments 0 Shares 53 Views 0 Reviews -

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMPackers signing Illinois OL Josh Gesky as UDFA following 2026 draftThe Green Bay Packers are signing Illinois offensive lineman Josh Gesky as an undrafted free agent following the 2026 NFL draft, per NFL reporter Aaron Wilson.Like quarterback Kyron Drones and linebacker TJ Quinn, who are both reportedly signing with the Packers, Gesky visited Green Bay on a 30 visit before the 2026 draft. Gesky (6-5, 308) ranked as Dane Brugler's No. 23 guard in the draft class. The 23-year-old ran the 40-yard dash in 5.03 seconds, hit 33" in the vertical leap, covered 9-1 in the broad jump and completed 30 reps on the bench. His Relative Athletic Score is 9.62 out of 10.0. From Brugler: "Gesky enrolled at 260 pounds, played at around 330 pounds in 2025 and weighed under 310 pounds for his pro day he has a big-boned frame that he can fill out or make leaner, depending on what is needed. He was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 6, but scouts say he manages it well with the staff (always has a water or Gatorade on him). Though his redirect skills are marginal, he has adequate feet and eager hands to set up shop and get into a punch-ready position. He is a coach pleaser, with a blue-collar mindset as a worker. Overall, Gesky can do a better job with his flexibility to create leverage, but his natural strength and torque allow him to cover up in the run game or anchor in pass pro. His pro-day workout created a buzz among scouts."Gesky is a three-time All-Big Ten honorable mention selection who made 36 starts at left or right guard for Illinois over the last two seasons. According to Pro Football Focus, Gesky played over 2,000 career snaps, with over 1,900 coming at left guard. He allowed only three sacks and 41 pressures over 1,149 career pass-blocking snaps and committed just six total penalties, including one sack allowed and one penalty committed in 2025.The Packers are adding at least two offensive linemen to the roster, including fifth-round pick Jager Burton, who can play guard and center. This article originally appeared on Packers Wire: Packers signing Illinois OL Josh Gesky as UDFA following 2026 draft0 Comments 0 Shares 60 Views 0 Reviews
