SPORTS.YAHOO.COMBayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich laments strange loss, but feels theres more to comeParis Saint-Germain's French midfielder #24 Senny Mayulu goes for a header with Bayern Munich's German midfielder #06 Joshua Kimmich during the UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg football match between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Bayern Munich at the Parc des Princes in Paris on April 28, 2026. (Photo by Anne-Christine POUJOULAT / AFP via Getty Images) | AFP via Getty ImagesHeading into Bayern Munichs 5-4 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, star midfielder Joshua Kimmich knew the game was going to be a whirlwind, but even he did not envision what was about to occur. I think it was to be expected that it would be end-to-end, but I didnt expect it to be so open. It feels strange after the match because we lost by one goal. We were three goals down at one point, came back and had the feeling we actually shouldve equalized. Particularly at the end, Paris looked tired, they had cramps and were playing for time. We certainly felt we had a chance, said Kimmich (as captured by FCBayern.com). I honestly thought we were very good at the start, the first 15, 20 minutes. We needed to score the second goal. Then we allow Paris into the game through a mistake in build-up, and after that they got better. Its very annoying that we conceded from a set piece again we mustnt allow that. However, we certainly showed a very good reaction. Okay, they had another counter and hit the bar, but overall you have the feeling theres more to come.Kimmich and his mates will have to find away to at least slow down PSGs attack. Needing to go up two goals at home is not impossible, but it will not be a walk in the park either. Either way, fans cannot wait to see round two of this heavyweight battle. WWW.FOXSPORTS.COM17-Year-Old Sensation Gilberto Mora Could Make World Cup History For MexicoSeventeen-year-old midfielder Gilberto Mora could become the youngest Mexican player to appear in a World Cup. He was among the initial 12 players picked by coach Javier Aguirre in Mexicos World Cup squad on Tuesday, all of them from the local Liga MX. They begin training together next Monday. Aguirre also called up eight others to fill out the training sessions until the European-based players arrive at the end of May. Mora just resumed playing for Tijuana after a groin injury sidelined him for two months. Mexico's youngest World Cup player is Manuel "Chaquetas" Rosas, who was 18 years, 88 days when he played in the inaugural 1930 World Cup. "I had an injury that kept me out for most of the (Liga MX) but Im happy to be back," Mora said on Saturday. "The recovery was a bit long but thank God Im fine now, I feel great physically and ready for whats next. Im 100% in every aspect." Seven 17-year-olds including Pele have played in a World Cup, the youngest of them Northern Irelands Norman Whiteside in 1982 in Spain. Depending on when Mora makes his World Cup debut Mexico opens against South Africa on June 11 he would become the sixth or seventh youngest ever. The teenager has made waves in Liga MX and started for the Mexico team that won the Gold Cup in 2025. But his injury has sidelined him from Mexico's last six matches. "Morita" could return for Mexico on May 22 in a World Cup warm-up against Ghana in Puebla, Mexico. Mora already owns several youngest records. In August 2024, he was the youngest to start and score in the Mexican first division at age 15. In January 2025 he was the youngest to debut for Mexico at 16. SPORTS.YAHOO.COMAnalyst offers $50 million Baker Mayfield Buccaneers contract predictionAnalyst offers $50 million Baker Mayfield Buccaneers contract prediction originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here. When Baker Mayfield signed his contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers a couple of seasons ago, his $33 million APY deal felt like a steal.Well, now Baker is set to play on the final year of his contract in 2026, and after two division titles and two Pro Bowls in three seasons, the price continues to go up.If Mayfield has a bounce-back 2026, then the Buccaneers should be expecting a big contract to be coming Baker's way...if they want to keep him.And NFL.com's Kevin Patra thinks he knows where the ballpark is for a Baker extension."Mayfields contract now becomes the biggest question of the offseason," Patra wrote. "The club sounds willing to give the two-time Pro Bowl quarterback a raise to keep him from playing out the final year of his contract, but how high will the price go? Mayfields current pact is worth $33.33 million per year. Hitting the $50 million mark feels like a given at this stage for a QB who has kept the franchise afloat."More:Vikings future for J.J. McCarthy on thin ice for analystWill Buccaneers extend Baker?Well, they have to ask themselves a couple of questions first.Do they see Baker as the long-term solution? Is he worth $50 million APY, and can they fit that into the salary cap? And lastly, if they don't, do they see a quarterback out there who can get more out of this current group? Or do they go the rookie route in the draft? All of those options appear to be on the table, and if it were me, I'd be extending Baker because we know how hard it is to find a genuine franchise quarterback. And Mayfield is exactly that.It will be interesting to see how it will play out over the coming 12 months.More NFL news:1 Chiefs rumor that just won't go awayAnalyst poses 1 big Commanders WR questionWhy Bills still have huge Keon Coleman question markRavens have huge cloud hanging over franchiseHow does Chargers' draft impact Justin Herbert?0 Commentarios 0 Acciones 42 Views 0 Vista previa

WWW.FOXSPORTS.COMLAFC, Owners Of Swiss Soccer Club, Offer To Sell After Fans' Forceful ProtestLos Angeles FC offered to sell struggling Swiss club Grasshopper on Tuesday after fans protested with expletives at a home game in Zurich. The record 27-time Swiss champion has been rooted to 11th place in the 12-team league since the stellar LAFC ownership group bought a majority stake in January 2024. LAFC owners include entertainment titans Peter Guber and Mark Shapiro, Will Ferrell, Magic Johnson, Mia Hamm and Nomar Garciaparra. Grasshopper fans rioted this month after a Swiss Cup semifinals loss at second-tier Stade Lausanne Ouchy, and unfurled a banner at a league game on Saturday telling the American owners forcefully to go. "Recent protests have called for us to leave the club," LAFC said in a statement in English and German posted on the Grasshopper website. "We wish to state clearly that we are open to discussions regarding a partial or full sale of (the club), provided it secures the clubs long-term sustainability." Grasshopper is among dozens of European soccer clubs now with U.S. investment, after previously having owners from China. It has proved resistant to any quick fix in 23 years since its last league title and 13 years after winning the Swiss Cup. A big majority of European clubs lose money and, LAFC said, "the financial reality remains that (Grasshoppers) running costs continue to exceed its current revenues, and the club depends on ongoing external support to compete in professional football." The club shares the publicly owned Letzigrund stadium also a storied track and field venue with city rival Zurich. "We understand the frustration and we share it," LAFC said on Tuesday, insisting "we have invested significantly" and offered again to meet with fan groups. "Without continued investment from ownership, (the club) will not exist as a professional football organization. However, should that be the genuine wish of the supporters we are willing to engage in discussions on that basis as well." With four rounds left in the league, Grasshopper is set for another 11th-place finish and another relegation playoff to stay in the top tier. That two-leg playoff is against the runner-up in the second tier. Reporting by The Associated Press.0 Commentarios 0 Acciones 35 Views 0 Vista previa -
