WWW.KSAT.COMBoerne Champion blanks Southwest in Game 3, advances to regional semifinalBoerne Champion baseball advanced to the 5A Region 4 Semifinals on Saturday, after shutting out Southwest 6-0 in Game 3 of the area round. The game remained scoreless until the fifth inning, when Chargers slugger Zak Al-Arashi launched a two-run home run to right-center field, scoring himself and Blake Ott for a 2-0 lead.Later in the inning, Lyndon Austin laid down a bunt, and a Southwest error at third base allowed two more runs to score, as Champion extended its lead. This is the expectation. We found a way to do it and get it done, Chargers coach Ben Woodchick said. It wasnt our best baseball, but theres a lot of grit that goes into this, months of work. The last two days have been a little frustrating, but I think we battled throughout the week. WWW.GBNEWS.COMMichael Carrick sends warning to Man Utd players after Sunderland drawMichael Carrick expressed satisfaction with Manchester United's goalless stalemate at Sunderland, describing the outcome as acceptable given the challenging circumstances, though he went on to warn his players against taking their foot off the gas."It's an OK result, it isn't the end of the world by any stretch," the United boss told reporters following the match at the Stadium of Light.Carrick highlighted the defensive solidity his side demonstrated on Wearside, noting the value of keeping a clean sheet on opposition territory."We got a clean sheet away from home at a tough ground. We knew it was going to be tough," he added. The head coach labelled the point "decent enough" whilst acknowledging his team fell short of their usual attacking standards. The draw proved significant for United's league standing, extending their advantage over fourth-placed Liverpool to six points with just two fixtures remaining in the campaign.Carrick's side managed only a single effort on target throughout the encounter, yet the defensive resilience ensured they departed with a valuable point. The result means United have strengthened their grip on third position heading into the final fortnight of the 2025/26 Premier League season.Their remaining matches see them host Nottingham Forest on 17 May before concluding the campaign away to Brighton & Hove Albion a week later.Carrick refused to dwell on his side's failure to find the net, which brought an end to their run of scoring in every league match this season."That's football. We've scored goals for a long period of time, so not scoring in one game can also happen. It's not one to overanalyse from our point of view," he explained. The United manager attributed the blank to the nature of competitive football rather than any particular failing from his players."I put this result down to football. There was a team out there defending as well as attacking, so it happens and I cannot be overcritical of our players today," Carrick stated.Carrick was emphatic when asked whether complacency or a lack of motivation had crept into his squad given their comfortable league position."No. Not at all. Nothing is done, the season isn't finished," he insisted. The United boss made clear that any player lacking the proper mentality would not be welcome within his group."If someone has that mentality, they aren't in our camp. That's really not something we're concerned about at all," Carrick declared. He emphasised the importance of finishing the campaign strongly, with the final home match of the season against Forest now firmly in his sights. Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter0 Commentarios 0 Acciones 69 Views 0 Vista previa -
