WWW.KSAT.COMKnicks and Spurs set for Game 4 of an NBA Finals that have belonged to the road teamsSometime in these NBA Finals, the home team figures to get a victory. If the New York Knicks do it Wednesday night, they will be on the doorstep of a championship. The Knicks can take a 3-1 lead over the San Antonio Spurs, who hope the long arms of 7-foot-4 Victor Wembanyama already have started swinging the series in their favor. The Spurs won Game 3 on Monday powered by Wembanyama's 32 points, eight rebounds, six assists and three blocked shots. That was the third straight victory by the road team in the series, only the second time that has happened in the NBA Finals. The other was the series between Chicago and Phoenix in 1993. Michael Jordan eventually put a stop to that by scoring 55 points in Game 4 to lead the eventual champion Bulls to the victory on their home floor.Time will tell if Wembanyama can reach Jordan's level, but he's now proved he can deliver just the same in big games in New York. He angered the Knicks and their fans with a shot to Jalen Brunson's head during the game. The NBA decided not to later assess Wembanyama a flagrant foul, and the 22-year-old figures to hear even louder boos as a new villain at Madison Square Garden. If you get hit, you hit back. Thats life. If life hits you, you need to figure out a way to get on your feet and hit it back, teammate De'Aaron Fox said. "Every time he rolls, he gets tagged, he gets hit. If hes trying to go set a screen, box out, whatever it may be, hes getting grabbed, hes getting held. It would be crazy for him to think hes going to get open by not hitting somebody. But thats basketball. Its going to be physical. No one expects anyone to come out here and not have bumps and bruises or injuries or all these things. I dont think its trying to be a villain.Game 5 is Saturday in San Antonio, and if the road success continues Wednesday, the series would return to New York for Game 6 on Tuesday. The Knicks, seeking their first championship since 1973, will be trying to bounce back after the Spurs snapped their 13-game winning streak on Monday. The Spurs have done a great job starting in the game, dictating the pace and dictating how the game is going, Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns said. We have to try to be the first ones to throw the first punch.___AP NBA: https://apnews.com/hub/NBA0 Commentarios 0 Acciones 75 Views 0 Vista previa -

WWW.GBNEWS.COMFIFA chief Gianni Infantino speaks out on Somali referee debacle: 'Chill and relax'FIFA president Gianni Infantino urged critics to "chill and relax" following the refusal of Somali referee Omar Artan's entry to the United States ahead of the World Cup.Speaking at a 66-minute press conference in Mexico City on Wednesday, the eve of the tournament's opening match, Infantino labelled the incident "unfortunate" whilst maintaining that football's governing body has limited power over national authorities."We don't control everything," he stated. "Maybe sometimes it is good as well to just chill and relax."The FIFA chief cautioned that "screaming and shouting has the opposite effect of finding a solution."Artan was turned away at Miami International Airport on Saturday after arriving from Istanbul. The US State Department provided justification for the decision, with an official stating that Artan was "associated with suspected members of terrorist organizations," rendering him ineligible for admission to the country.Artan, who was voted Africa's leading men's referee last year, maintained he possessed the correct visa documentation for entry. He was subsequently placed on a return flight to Turkey. The 2026 tournament would have marked a historic moment for Somali football, with Artan set to become the first match official from the East African nation to participate in a World Cup finals.Infantino defended FIFA's position by drawing a comparison with future tournaments, noting that the 2035 Women's World Cup is expected to be held in the United Kingdom."Would you find it normal that FIFA would dictate to the British Government who to let in the country and who not to let in the country?" he asked reporters. The Swiss administrator emphasised that global security concerns take precedence, stating: "Our world is a very aggressive world and security goes above everything."He later clarified his earlier remarks, explaining: "When I say 'chill', I don't mean 'chill and do nothing', I mean to trust us."Infantino insisted FIFA consistently works towards positive outcomes, acknowledging that success is not always achievable. The FIFA president also addressed Iran's participation in the tournament, which has faced uncertainty following US and Israeli air strikes on the country in February."I am very happy, because I went to see the Iranian team myself, and when people say it would be impossible for them to come, I promised them that they would come," Infantino said.Iran's football federation announced on Tuesday that its ticket allocation had been withdrawn, just days before their opening group match against New Zealand on 16 June."There are challenges, and of course, it is not easy," Infantino acknowledged, whilst expressing hope for a positive atmosphere when Iran take to the pitch. Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter0 Commentarios 0 Acciones 73 Views 0 Vista previa -
