Williams' Queen's run over as injured Mboko withdraws
Serena Williams' doubles campaign at Queen's has been curtailed as her playing partner Victoria Mboko has withdrawn with a left knee injury. The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion, 44, made her return to tennis on Tuesday after almost four years away from the sport. The pair had been scheduled to play their quarter-final on Thursday but Mboko, 19, suffered a nasty fall in her singles match on Wednesday, which forced her to retire from the match.Trailing 6-2 3-4 against Karolina Pliskova, the Canadian teenager cried out in pain as she went down clutching her knee and she limped off the court in tears. It means her compatriot Leylah Fernandez and Germany's Laura Siegemund, who they were scheduled to face in the doubles on Thursday evening, advance to the semi-finals.More to follow.

Thousands of Britons banned from hanging flags from their balconies just hours before World Cup starts
A major UK housing management company has banned all residents from hanging flags from their balconies on the same day the World Cup is due to get underway.Rendall & Rittner Housing sent a letter this morning reminding all residents of the "proper use and maintenance of balconies as per the terms of your Lease."The mandatory guidance coincides with the start of the World Cup, essentially banning English and Scottish fans from publicly showing their support during the tournament. Those who break the rule "may be reported for further action", the company said.TRENDINGStoriesVideosYour SayRendall & Rittner Housing were founded in 1990 and manages over 90,000 homes across the UK.They operate primarily in London, Manchester, and Bournemouth, but as a national property managing agent, they also have properties around Britain, including Scotland. The management company are hired by freeholders, developers, and resident groups to handle day-to-day building operations, block management, and estate maintenance. The letter, sent shortly after 9am this morning, reads: "We would like to kindly remind all residents of the proper use and maintenance of balconies as per the terms of your Lease."They then list Balcony Etiquette and Safety Reminders, which include: "No Flags, external decorative lighting or signage to be used."Among a long list of banned items, the letter also highlights that residents should "be considerate of noise levels, especially during social gatherings, and inform immediate neighbours in advance as a courtesy."It concludes: "Should you require any clarification, please contact the concierge. "Regular building patrols are conducted and any breaches of the Lease - including unauthorised items or poorly maintained balconies - may be reported for further action."LATEST DEVELOPMENTSCouncil orders patriotic Briton to stop flying 'offensive and intimidating' Union JackBritons face 2,500 fine for putting English flag up at homes on St Georges Day'We've been pushed too far!' Britain's patriotic flag fliers spark blistering GB News row: 'This is OUR identity'Rendall & Rittner manage multiple new-build housing estates, apartment blocks, and mixed-use communities in Surrey as part of their expanding Southern regional portfolio. The expansion includes approximately 9,000 residents.Reacting to residents affected in the region, Surrey Reform Councillor Scott Kelly told GB News: "I understand the need for sensible rules around balcony safety, but I believe a blanket ban on displaying the England flag is the wrong approach. "Our national flag is a symbol of pride, identity and community, and during major events such as the World Cup, residents should be able to show their support for the national team in a respectful and responsible manner."He added: "At a time when our nation should be coming together in solidarity and unison, celebrating what unites us rather than what divides us, I see no reason why people should be prevented from displaying the England flag safely and responsibly from their homes."Residents across Britain have become incredibly angry and vocal over balcony flag bans.In an unrelated incident in London, a resident was ordered to take down a Union flag displayed on his balcony after a neighbour complained that it was "intimidating".England will face Croatia on Wednesday in their opening fixture of the 2026 World Cup.GB News has approached Rendall & Rittner Housing for a comment. Our Standards: The GB News Editorial Charter
