It enters the tournament after three recent friendly wins in the last few weeks, beating Zambia, Honduras and Iceland by a combined score of 10-0. Broncos sign former UFL CB/KR Sean Fresch
ST. LOUIS, MO - JUN 07: St. Louis Battlehawks cornerback Sean Fresch (29) returns the punt during a UFL Semifinal playoff game where the St. Louis Battlehawks hosted the Louisville Kings on Sunday June 7th, 2026, at The Dome at America's Center in St. Louis MO (Photo by Rick Ulreich/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images) | Icon Sportswire via Getty ImagesAccording to multiple reports, including 9NEWS Denvers Mike Klis, the Denver Broncos have signed former UFL cornerback and returner Sean Fresch. To make room for him on the 90-man roster, the team has waived cornerback Paul Manning. Per source, #Broncos have waived CB Paul Manning. Move makes room for Sean Fresch, a returner/corner. MikeKlis9NEWS (@mikeklis9news) June 16, 2026Fresch is a 5-8, 173-pound cornerback and returner who had 2 sacks, 3 TFLs, and 4 PBUs this past season, as well as leading the UFL in punt return yards with 333 yards. He graduated from Rice in 2024 and has spent the past two seasons in the UFL with the St. Louis Battlehawks, but will now attempt to make it in the NFL and make the Broncos 53-man roster or their practice squad. The Broncos are pretty loaded at corner with Pat Surtain II, Riley Moss, JaQuan McMillian, Jahdae Barron, and Kris Abrams-Draine locked into roster spots. After that, you have Taylor Reese, Jaden Robinson, Ahmari Harvey, Brent Austin, and now Sean Fresch competing for one final spot on the 53-man roster or a few spots on their practice squad. What may benefit Fresch is his ability as a returner. He led the UFL in punt return yards this past season, but the Broncos do have an All-Pro punt returner in Marvin Mims Jr. However, he is in the final year of his deal and has recently switched agents, so who knows how that will all play out in the coming months. Having another player capable of returning punts is valuable, and we will see if Fresch can make an impact in the return game. The Broncos also signed former UFL and St. Louis Battlehawks wide receiver Hakeem Butler. To make room for Butler, the Broncos waived/injured veteran WR Michael Woods II, according to 9NEWS Denvers Mike Klis. So, the Broncos will be adding at least two former UFL players to their 90-man roster ahead of the start of their mandatory minicamp practices. We have seen Dondra Tillman come from the UFL and make an impact on the Broncos roster, and now Butler and Fresch will have the same opportunity. Both players are joining stacked areas on the roster, so it will be difficult, but competition is always good, and maybe the Broncos can find some more hidden gems in one or both players.

MLB warns players about altering uniforms after Giants pitchers add Bible verses on Pride Night
Major League Baseball has warned players about writing on their uniforms after San Francisco starter Landen Roupp and two other pitchers added Bible verses to their Pride Night caps last week.Roupp started the 5-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Friday night with Gen 9:12-16 written on his cap. A portion of the Bible verse overlapped the rainbow SF logo players wore for the Pride Night. San Francisco relievers JT Brubaker and Ryan Walker also added Bible verses to their caps.Another Giants pitcher, left-hander Sam Hentges, wore the team's standard black cap with the orange logo instead of the Pride Night version.MLB issued a warning about future violations of the league's uniform policy. The writing on the cap violates our rules and consistent with normal practice we have warned the players about future violations, MLB said in its original statement. The league issued another statement Tuesday to elaborate. To be clear, this routine verbal warning not to wear the hat in future games is not disciplinary and had absolutely nothing to do with the content of the message," MLB said."We respect players right to free expression. However, writing of any kind, with any message, is prohibited per Major League Baseballs Uniform Regulations which provides in part that, (a) Player may not write, attach, affix, embroider or otherwise display nicknames or messages on apparel or playing equipment. We have given the same warning numerous times in the past to players for messages such as Dad, Happy Mothers Day, I Love Mom, and names of family members.MLB teams sometimes host Pride Nights during the regular season to support their LGBTQ+ fans. The league has been a leader among the four major U.S. pro sports in hosting Pride Nights, in part because its regular season overlaps with Pride Month in June. Many adopt rainbow-colored uniforms patches or logos, set up special signage around ballparks and invite guests including community leaders and drag performers. The portion of the Genesis verse cited by Roupp on his hat included God's promise to never again send a worldwide flood and the rainbow in the sky is the sign of that covenant.Thats just kind of something I believe in, and I stand firm in that, and Im thankful we live in a country where, you know, we have the freedom to believe what we want and express what we want, Roupp told reporters.Giants manager Tony Vitello told reporters nothing was discussed with the pitchers before the game. Vitello said it was just kind of a general knowledge" that players "have the freedom to do what they think is best.___AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB
