    Olympian Jenny Simpson transported to hospital after collapsing during track event
    Olympic bronze medalist Jenny Simpson was transported to a North Carolina hospital on Tuesday after collapsing during a track event, according to the Associated Press.Simpson was attending a a community track event hosted by Sir Walter Running, which confirmed Simpson was involved in a medical incident at the event. It's full statement read: "Friends,Last night, there was a medical incident involving Jenny Simpson at the Pop Up Miles event.We are incredibly grateful to the individuals who responded immediately, as well as EMS and the medical professionals who handled the situation with such care, urgency and professionalism.Jenny is receiving excellent medical care, and our thoughts are with her and her family during this time.We are also thankful to everyone who has reached out with concern and support. We ask that you continue to keep Jenny and her family in your prayers as we all hope for the very best.Simpson, 39, reportedly needed CPR and had an automated external defibrillator (AED) used on her while at the track, per the AP. Simpsons current health status is not clear, according to TMZ. Simpson made history in 2016, when she won a bronze medal in the 1500 meter event at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics. In doing so, Simpson became the first American woman to medal in that particular event.
