Chris 'The Bear' Fallica's World Cup Best Bets Today Match Day 19
"Bear Bets" are real wagers that Chris "The Bear" Fallica is actually making. We only got one game on Sunday to open the knockout stage, but come Monday, we're getting spoiled. Here's how I'm wagering on Match Day 19, with three Round-of-32 games on tap. This page may contain affiliate links to legal sports betting partners. If you sign up or place a wager, FOX Sports may be compensated. Read more about Sports Betting on FOX Sports. World Cup Best Bets Monday, June 29 Brazil vs. Japan This is going to be a fun one likely the exact opposite of what we saw Sunday at SoFi Stadium. Japan is well organized and fearless. Its midfield can give Brazil problems. Sure, the Samurai Blue do not have a player the caliber of Vincius Jr., but as a whole, Japan matches up very well with Brazil. At minimum, this is BTTS. If Brazil moves on, it might take more than 90 minutes to achieve that goal. Germany vs. Paraguay This should be a straightforward win for Germany. Paraguay shouldnt offer much in attack and something along the lines of 2-0 Germany feels in order. Netherlands vs. Morocco Another banger to finish the day. This could be a quarter or semifinal with two teams of this caliber. Both had dark-horse appeal to make a deep run, but one will see its dream end here. I dont dislike BTTS here either. For as lauded as the Dutch defense is, the Netherlands didnt post a clean sheet in any group stage match. I would not be surprised if this one went to kicks.

Brazil, Germany, Netherlands Ready For A Supercharged Round Of 32 Slate
Monday will be a full slate of knockout games at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with heavyweights Brazil, Germany and Netherlands all looking to take big steps to the final. The day opens in Houston when five-time champion Brazil takes on a Japan team that performed well in the group stages and which also won a matchup between the two teams in October. In the days second game, Germany is heavily favored over Paraguay in Boston, but it might be tricky for Die Mannschaft as the South American side has been defending well and hasnt conceded a goal in its last two games. The final game of the day is a surprisingly strong matchup for the round of 32 when two top-10 teams in the FIFA World Rankings meet in Monterrey with the Netherlands facing African powerhouse Morocco, which made the semifinals in 2022 and has only continued to impress since then. Here is everything you need to know for Monday, June 29 at the World Cup. When: Monday, June 29, 1 p.m. ET Where: Houston TV: FOX Stream: Watch three days on FOX One Brazil and Japan square off in a round of 32 matchup at Houston Stadium on Monday in a game that features two teams who did not lose a match in the group stage. Brazil won Group C, with seven points from wins over Haiti and Scotland, along with an opening draw against Morocco. Carlo Ancelottis finished atop the group only by goal differential over Morocco. Despite winning the group, there are concerns that this Brazilian team is not where it needs to be to make a deep run. After the draw with Morocco, Ancelotti even went as far as apologizing that his team did not play better. The win over Haiti was not very convincing and in the win over Scotland, Brazil benefited from very poor Scottish mistakes. The best news for Brazil is that Vincius Junior has lived up to the high expectations that were on him leading into the tournament. The Real Madrid attacker became the fifth Brazilian player to score in all three group stage games. Brazil also saw Neymar, 34, make a 15-minute appearance off the bench against Scotland to end a 981-day absence from the team. Neymar is available for the knockouts, but it remains to be seen how much Ancelotti will rely on him. Japan finished second in Group F behind the Netherlands but ahead of Sweden and Tunisia. It was not perfect, but Hajime Moriyasus team impressed for long stretches in each game. In the 2-2 draw with the Netherlands, Japan was able to fight for two equalizers, including one in the 88th minute from Daichi Kamada. After a blowout win over Tunisia, Japan fought for a 1-1 draw with Sweden. The toughest challenge for Japan at this World Cup has been injuries. Before the tournament, multiple starters, including Wataru Endo, were not available for selection due to injuries sustained in the spring. At this tournament, midfielder Takefusa Kubo suffered a knee injury and is questionable to return. The history between the two teams greatly favors Brazil, which has won six of its seven all-time meetings with Japan with a score differential of 21-5. Recent history, however, favors Japan with the team's only win over Brazil coming in the last match between the two in October 2025. In that game at Tokyo's Ajinomoto Stadium, Brazil had a 2-0 lead at halftime, but Japan made a ferocious comeback that featured two assists from Junya Ito and a winning goal from Ayase Ueda. Brazil is favored in this game as it is one of the most historically powerful national teams with a record five World Cup trophies in its collection. Meanwhile, Japan has never won a knockout game in the tournament. But this game could be closer than people expect, given the way Japan has been playing in recent years and the confidence the team has in the group stages. Player To Watch The Real Madrid attacker lived up to the lofty expectations placed on him as Brazils best offensive player at a World Cup. He is key to Brazils hopes of making a deep run and in the group stages, he was electric. When Brazil was trailing Morocco, Vincius showed up and delivered an equalizer that was one of the best goals in the tournaments group stage. Against Japan, a lot is riding on his shoulders. If Vincius plays well, Japan will likely have a tough day. If the 25-year-old native of Rio de Janeiro does not, Japan might be able to pull off the upset. When: Monday, June 29, 4:30 p.m. ET Where: Boston TV: FOX Stream: Watch three days free on FOX One After failing to get out of group play in 2022 and 2018, Germany returns to the knockout stages with the hopes of making a long run in pursuit of its fifth World Cup trophy. Standing in its way will be a Paraguay team that rebounded from an ugly opening loss to the United States to fight its way to a win over Trkiye and a draw with Australia. The teams will meet at Boston Stadium in Mondays second game of the day. Germany has not been among the worlds elite teams since winning the World Cup in 2014. The team was grouped in the last two World Cups and its last two European Championships have also been unsuccessful with a round of 16 loss in 2021 and a quarterfinal loss in 2024. The signs for this German team are mixed. Die Mannschaft carried an impressive 11-match winning streak into its final group stage game against Ecuador but suffered a surprising 2-1 loss, albeit with a heavily rotated squad. Head coach Julian Nagelsmann has his team playing with a smooth and attacking style, driven by midfielders Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz, with Kai Havertz serving as the primary attacking focal point. Meanwhile, there has been nothing pretty about Paraguays road to this point. Its two results, a 1-0 win over Trkiye and the 0-0 draw with Australia, have been hard-fought grinds. Against Trkiye, Paraguay scored with a surprising early goal from Matias Galarza but Miguel Almiron was sent off in the first half. La Albirroja was only able to win after sitting deep and defending with 10 men. In these last two games, Gustavo Alfaros team has been outshot 44-14 but has not conceded a goal due to a combination of outstanding defense and luck. Against Germany, Paraguay will once again sit in a low block and look for occasional counterattacks for set-piece opportunities. Paraguay would be very satisfied to see the game go to penalties. Player To Watch Germanys tall center forward is the key to unlocking Paraguays low block, as he can score in the air and in tight spaces. The Arsenal attacker was not particularly effective in the recent games against the Ivory Coast and Ecuador, although he scored two goals against Curaao, who was also sitting deep. Look for Germany to try to get Havertz involved early and often. If Germany can muster a quick goal, Paraguay will have to come out of its shell which is not something it wants to do. When: Monday, June 29, 9 p.m. ET Where: Monterrey TV: FOX Stream: Watch three days free on FOX One In one of the most anticipated matchups in the round of 32, Morocco and the Netherlands square off at Monterrey Stadium in Mexico on Monday night. For the Netherlands, it impressively won its Group F with seven points from wins over Sweden and Tunisia along with a draw. But it turns out to not be much of a prize, as the Dutch were rewarded with a challenging matchup against a Morocco team that made the semifinals in 2022 and now enters this game ranked seventh in the FIFA World Rankings, one ahead of the Netherlands. Ronald Koemans team has a strong attack that is led by winger Cody Gakpo and Brian Brobbey, who each have two goals in the tournament. The Dutch have also been very strong on set pieces, with their immensely talented central defense tandem of Virgil van Dijk and Jan Paul van Hecke each scoring a goal. If Morocco is going to pull off the win, it will need to defend well against set pieces in one-on-one positions from out wide. On the attack, the Atlas Lions will continue to rely heavily on forward Ismael Saibari, who scored in each of the three group stage games, and Real Madrid winger Brahim Daz, who also notched two assists in the opening three games. In an expanded World Cup with a new round of 32, it is surprising to see two teams this strong in the first knockout game. The Netherlands are unbeaten in 15 World Cup matches, when not including penalties. Morocco is unbeaten in 31 matches overall. Both teams have realistic expectations of being in the Final in three weeks. Player To Watch The Sunderland center forward does not boast the resume of a center forward for a World Cup contender. But Brobbey is a great fit for this Netherlands team. He scored three goals in the group stages and has displayed a lot of great chemistry with his teams wingers and midfielders. If he is on, he is going to have chances against Morocco, and he is one of his teams big keys to advancing to the round of 16.

Shane van Gisbergen is NASCARs leading active winner on road and street courses with Sonoma victory
SONOMA, Calif. Shane van Gisbergen continued his remarkable run on the twistiest tracks in NASCAR, but this was no easy Sunday drive. The Trackhouse Racing driver became the winningest active Cup Series driver on road and street courses with his second consecutive victory at Sonoma Raceway. Though he led 74 of the final 83 laps after starting sixth on the 1.99-mile road course north of San Francisco, van Gisbergen had to fend off a charge by runner-up Chase Briscoe with a No. 97 Chevrolet that hadnt been entirely to his liking since practice a day earlier. We were really bad yesterday, and these guys did an amazing job turning this car into a winner, said van Gisbergen, who celebrated with a massive burnout for the grandstands. (Briscoe) was coming. He was really, really good, and I ran out at the end. Yeah, a couple more laps, we would have had some problems.Finishing second to van Gisbergen at Sonoma for the second consecutive year, Briscoe came up 0.357 seconds short and was left lamenting a mistake in getting his No. 19 Toyota into Turn 1 with four laps remaining. Not very many people get that close to him at the end of one of these road course races, Briscoe said. Just frustrated with myself. I felt like I definitely had the better car. I didnt do as good of a job as he did driving. I was having to push so hard, and that was where I would make up my ground. It was just such a razors edge, and I about crashed. If I dont make that mistake, Im probably ahead of him at the end.Just bummed that it was my fault we didnt win with the best car. Against that guy, youve got to be absolutely perfect.Van Gisbergen notched the eighth victory of his career on the tracks that require left and right turns, breaking a tie with 2020 Cup champion Chase Elliott. With his second win this season, van Gisbergen improved three spots to 14th in the points standings, moving back into a provisional spot in the Chase. But there are no road or street courses remaining over the final 18 races of the season, so the New Zealand native will need to diversify his skillset after entering NASCAR three years ago with no experience on ovals.I need to really step it up on the ovals, he said. This is an oval championship, and I need to keep getting better at them.Pole-sitter Ty Gibbs finished third, and Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell rounded out the top five.In-Season Challenge upsetFor the second year in a row, the top seed was knocked off in the opening race of the In-Season Challenge, the bracket-style tournament that pits 32 drivers head to head with the top finisher advancing.Tyler Reddick finished four laps down in 36th because of a power steering problem. That turned his first-round matchup into a walkover for 10th-place finisher Alex Bowman, who nabbed the 32nd and final seed in the In-Season Challenge despite missing four races with vertigo. Its just a very odd issue, Reddick said. Everything seemed fine when we left the pit stall, and then the steering just really got notchy with the power steering going in and out. It was just really really hard to make any kind of lap time with it.The 23XI Racing driver salvaged a point by setting the races fastest lap after the team made repairs. After leading the Chase standings since winning the Daytona 500 season opener, Reddick fell one point behind Denny Hamlin with eight races remaining in the regular season.Id say we got pretty fortunate, Reddick said. All things considered, for the issues that we had, we were very fortunate to only lose nine points to Denny while finishing last.Hamlin vs. DillonSecond-seeded Hamlin advanced despite a 26th-place finish, avenging a first-round upset by Ty Dillon last year.In a rematch, Dillon was ahead of Hamlin for most of Sundays race until he lost power steering with 15 laps remaining and fell to 35th. Hamlin rebounded from being spun from seventh by Carson Hocevar on a restart with 46 laps remaining.I had a really fast car, a top-five car on speed, Hamlin said. Once we got spun, it just lost all the downforce, and we struggled.Hocevar, who was also involved in a separate incident with Bell, apologized for the contact with Hamlin.I was watching my mirror the whole time, and I wasnt even seeing that I was hitting Denny, said Hocevar, who has tangled with several veterans this year. I was happy to hear that I wasnt the difference maker of Ty beating Denny because I would be looked at for sports fixing probably with the way I was singing Tys praises.Up nextNASCAR will return to Chicagoland Speedway for the first time in seven years with a 400-mile race on July 5. In the most recent Cup race on the 1.5-mile oval in Joliet, Illinois, Alex Bowman earned his first victory in NASCARs premier series by beating future teammate Kyle Larson on June 30, 2019.

Folarin Balogun, USA Ready For High-Pressure Moment In World Cup Knockouts
U.S. World Cup Training Base (IRVINE, Calif.) When was the last time the U.S. mens national team won a knockout game at a World Cup? Well, its been a while. At the 2002 tournament hosted by South Korea and Japan, the Americans beat rival Mexico in the round of 16 to advance to the quarterfinals, where they lost to eventual runners-up Germany. They havent made it that far since. On Wednesday, the U.S. has a chance to make history when it faces Bosnia and Herzegovina in the round of 32 in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Americans enter the knockout stage after winning Group D, though theyre also coming off a stunning 3-2 loss to Trkiye in which they conceded the game-winner in the 98th minute. The group was down and disappointed after the match, but has since had time to recharge and get back to it. There's a renewed sense of urgency. "Its just more serious," striker Folarin Balogun told reporters of the energy in the group. "Its crunch time, its knockout football. You lose, you go home, so this is the business end, and this is the stage where, in my opinion, the big players step forward, and the big players carry the pressure and make things happen." Balogun is certainly one of those big players. He leads the team with two goals and helped force Australias own goal with his speed and relentless pressure. And he wants more. Hes also probably talking about Christian Pulisic. The star winger played a role in the Americans first two goals against Paraguay before being forced off with a left calf injury that then ruled him out of the next match. Pulisic played 32 minutes against Trkiye and is expected back in the starting lineup this week. Pulisic looked like himself at training vocal, demanding and engaged, and constantly talking to and encouraging teammates during drills. "Good ball," he shouted to Tim Weah before urging Joe Scally to "find somebody through," pointing to where he wanted the pass played. "I feel like I can feel the difference in the atmosphere," Balogun said ahead of Sundays training session. "Theres a change in my mindset and mentality. Not that I wasnt taking it seriously before, but you can just go into another gear because you know you want it more, and I dont want the journey to end." After galvanizing the nation in the group stage and having sing-a-long sessions to "Take Me Home, Country Roads," nothing will matter if the U.S. cant make a run in the knockouts. "For me, it wont mean much," Balogun said. "The objective is to win. Im not somebody who would look back and think weve done well. Thats not really my mentality. Im just looking forward to Wednesday and looking forward to going out there and winning." The U.S. hasn't beaten a European opponent since a 1-0 friendly win over Bosnia and Herzegovina on Dec. 18, 2021. Before that, its previous victory over a European side came against Iceland on Jan. 31, 2016 two months before Pulisic made his national team debut. Since the Bosnia and Herzegovina win in 2021, the Americans have played 12 matches against European opponents without another victory, and no one on the team seems to have a clear explanation as to why. Theyve come close, including a 2-1 loss to Germany in a World Cup tune-up match they were capable of winning, and last weeks heartbreaking group-stage finale defeat to Trkiye. Now they have another opportunity. A win on Wednesday would not only keep the U.S. alive in its home World Cup but would also end a frustrating drought. "I think were a different team now," winger Sergino Dest explained Sunday. "Weve improved a lot in the last couple of years. I think we showed it in the first couple of games in this tournament. [Bosnia and Herzegovina] also know its going to be a really tough game. Its not going to be easy." Added Balogun on the idea of ending that losing streak and winning a knockout game: "From my personal experience, the best way to break history is not to think about what hasn't been done, but think about what needs to be done in order to progress. And thats just win." Four years ago, the U.S. made it to the round of 16, where it was outclassed by the Netherlands in a 3-1 defeat. Dest said theres not much to take from that result now, other than how much this group has grown. The team is more mature and experienced, plus players are riding the high of winning the group and experiencing unprecedented fan support. "I feel like everybody is really confident," Dest said. "We just have a lot of belief that we can do it."
