International recruiting is another avenue Kentucky has landed several players from since Mark Pope arrived in Lexington.And we cant forget the emergence of fifth-year seniors who were set to have their eligibility expire but are now getting one more year thanks to ongoing lawsuits. All of this is to say Kentucky still has time to add one more guy, and Pope discussed just that during his Friday meeting with local media.We have a spot open, and so were actively, every day, in conversations with everything from international guys, reclass guys, still transfer portal guys, and then of course this looming fifth-year eligibility, which would bring a huge influx of talent into the recruitable pool right now, Pope told reporters. Some guys that could be game-changers.The most recent big-name player to be granted a fifth year of eligibility is Auburn forward Keyshawn Hall, who averaged 19.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per game last season.Other notable players who could gain one more season of eligibility if their lawsuits are successful include Michigan State forward Jaxon Kohler, UCLA point guard Donovan Dent, Texas guard Jordan Pope, UCLA guard Skyy Clark, and UC Santa Barbara guard Aidan Mahaney.Will he manage to get it filled? CHICAGO (AP) When the Chicago Blackhawks selected Patrick Kane No. 1 overall in the 2007 draft, they counted on the forward, then just 18, to give their rebuilding team and its sputtering offense an immediate boost.Fast-forward 19 years: The Blackhawks again hope that Kane, now 37 and entering his 20th NHL season, will do the same after signing the all-time scoring leader among U.S.-born players to a $16 million, two-year deal.I mean thats kind of always what Ive been known to do is help produce, Kane said Friday at the Blackhawks practice facility. I dont think thats going to change any time now. Im excited to come back and try to produce and fit in with all these young players and guys that I can play with, help build chemistry, learn. So do all those things. Help the team win. Help the team score."Kane said he feels strong three years after undergoing a major hip resurfacing surgery and rehabbing his way back for three solid seasons with the Detroit Red Wings. Kane has 1,400 points in 1,369 career NHL games (508 goals and 892 assists). He cranked out 16 goals and 41 assists in 67 games last season for Detroit and says hes not slowing down.The homecoming is nice but the Blackhawks need productionKane had discussions with his hometown Buffalo Sabres after becoming a free agent on July 1. Bedard, who signed a $75 million, five-year contract last week, got hurt skating with a group of NHL players near his home in suburban Vancouver. The Blackhawks scored 239 times and narrowly missed the playoffs.In 2025-26, Chicago finished at 29-39-14 with 72 points, and scored just 213 goals, behind only Calgary (212).Blackhawks GM says the timing was rightBlackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson said it was time to bring Kane back after dealing him to the New York Rangers just before the March 2023 trade deadline.Davidson was beginning a major overhaul of his roster then. In addition to focusing on prospects, he said the Blackhawks also needed to focus on building a new leadership core.That process, with Bedard leading the way, has already started, Davidson said. Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and current CBS analyst Tony Romo was reportedly arrested Thursday for suspicion of operating while intoxicated (OWI), per FOX6 New in Wisconsin.Romo, 46, was reportedly arrested by the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office while driving on a highway in the city. An arrest detention report obtained by FOX6 News claimed Romo was taken into custody after performing poorly when given a field-sobriety test.Romo was reportedly booked and released and due back in court Sept. 21. A first offense charge or OWI carries a fine and a temporary drivers license suspension in Wisconsin. Depending on Romos blood-alcohol level, he could also be subject to a year in a sobriety program.Its unclear whether the arrest will affect Romos employment with CBS. If that court date holds, it would take place on a Monday during the NFL season. Romo typically works on Sundays during the NFL regular season. Romo, who grew up and went to high school in Wisconsin, attended Eastern Illinois before he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Cowboys in 2003. He worked his way onto the 53-man roster and eventually claimed a starting role three years later. Romo impressed immediately in his first opportunity as a starter, tossing 19 touchdowns against 13 interceptions in 10 starts and making the Pro Bowl.Over his 13-year career, all of which came with the Cowboys, Romo threw 248 touchdowns. He made four Pro Bowls and one All-Pro second team during his career.
