Juan Soto left Mets game early with calf tightness, will have an MRI today
The Mets 2026 season is the gift that keeps on giving. In the teams series-opening loss to the Dodgers last night at Citi Field, Juan Soto was pulled from the game with left calf tightness after just two plate appearances as a designated hitter. The team said that hell undergo an MRI today, and interim manager Andy Green acknowledge that its possible that Soto lands on the injured list.Back in early April, Soto suffered a right calf injury and spent three weeks on the injured list. On the same day that he returned, Francisco Lindor suffered a calf injury of his own, one that turned out to be more severe, as he spent two months on the injured list. The fact that the Mets two best position players have so rarely played together this seasonhaving come into the year as two of the most durable players in the sportkind of sums up the season. If both had been healthy all season, youd have reasonably expected them to combine for something like 11-12 WAR, and here we are in late July with them having combined for just 3.7 fWAR and 3.4 bWAR.When he has been healthy, Soto has been the best hitter in the National League. In 359 plate appearances, hes hit .283/.408/.539 with a 159 wRC+. Only two American League hittersYordan Alvarez and Ben Ricehave been better by wRC+ at the time of this writing.

Previewing the 2026 season for Texas A&M corner Dezz Ricks
As we gear up for the 2026 football season, Aggies Wire is breaking down nearly every player on the Texas A&M roster. Throughout the preseason, each profile will highlight a players background, recruiting rankings out of high school, and projected role under head coach Mike Elko.Cornerback Dezz Ricks enters the 2026 season looking to take another step forward after steadily improving each year in College Station. His journey has come with ups and downs, but the growth is undeniable, and he now sits in the middle of what head coach Mike Elko has called the best secondary he has coached at Texas A&M.Ricks is a long, sticky cover corner who can erase an opponents top receiver when hes locked in. The physical tools are all there, and with a deeper, more competitive room pushing him, hes positioned for his strongest season yet.Consistency and a few technical details remain areas of focus, but Ricks 2025 production shows a reliable starter trending upward. He started all thirteen games last year and finished with twenty-six tackles, one tackle for loss, and six pass breakups.Preseason Player ProfileHometown: Norfolk, VirginiaHeight:6-1Weight:188 lbs.Class in 2026: RS JuniorRecruiting Rankings (Class of 2023)National: No. 26 (247Sports Composite)Position: No. 2 (247Sports Composite)Virginia: No. 6 (247Sports Composite)The former five-star prospect was named to the MaxPreps Sophomore All-America Team and earned a spot in the 2023 Under Armor All-American Bowl. Before his rise as an elite defensive back, he grew up running track and won a city title in the 200-meter dash at fourteen years old.Depth Chart OutlookThe cornerback room will feature heavy competition this season. With Will Lee III off to the NFL, there is an open spot opposite Dezz Ricks. Ricks held that role last year and delivered a solid season, but with Julian Humphrey and transfer Ricky Gibson pushing for starting reps, nothing is guaranteed. Ricks enters fall camp in the lead for the job, yet the battle behind him is real. Right now it looks like the spot is his to lose, and everyone else is competing to line up opposite him.Photo GalleryContact/Follow us@AggiesWireon X and like our page onFacebookto follow ongoing coverage of Texas A&M news, notes, and opinions. Commanders' TE could be one of fantasy football's best 2026 bargains
If you owned Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels in fantasy football in 2024, you likely won your league and any prize associated with it. However, if you drafted Daniels high in 2025, your fantasy team likely suffered a much different fate, as injuries cost him 10 games. The Commanders moved on from offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury this offseason. So, there's some mystery surrounding Washington's offense in 2026. New offensive coordinator David Blough has been on staff the past two seasons and understands the strengths and weaknesses of the roster. The offense he plans to run offers great hope. It's expected to look similar to what Ben Johnson runs with the Bears. If Daniels remains healthy, he could put up even bigger numbers in 2026 than he did in 2024. But what other Washington player should be on the radar of fantasy owners? Well, obviously, wide receiver Terry McLaurin should be considered a bounce-back candidate, too. Also, keep an eye on second-year running back Jacory "Bill" Croskey-Merritt. What about tight end Chig Okonkwo?NFL.com fantasy analyst Matt Okada recently named Okonkwo as his third-best value in upcoming fantasy football drafts. Ive been on the Okonkwo breakout train for a couple years now and it has yet to leave the station. But lets explore why that might be the case. The Titans were a bottom eight team in passing yards in each of Okonkwos four seasons in Tennessee and ranked dead last in passing touchdowns over that span (67 total). Their passing offense was also fourth-worst in success rate (39.4%) and EPA/dropback (-0.16) during that span, per Next Gen Stats. So, while Okonkwo flashed in a couple games the last few years, his environment has not been conducive to a legitimate TE1 season. Now, Okonkwo has made his way to Washington to play withJayden Danielsand new OC David Blough. We dont have much foundational data for predicting Bloughs offense, but Okonkwo hasspoken favorablyof Bloughs plans, highlighting the intent to get him in space and weaponize his YAC ability. The Commanders signed him to a three-year, $27 million contract a couple months into Bloughs tenure, setting him up to be the clear receiving leader in the tight end room. And with few established wide receivers behindTerry McLaurin, there is a world where Okonkwo is the No. 2 option in the passing game. I predict hell be one of the top waiver wire pickups in early September. If you have the roster room, stash him at the end of your bench to beat the rush.Okonkwo wasn't in a great situation in Tennessee. The offense struggled throughout his four years there. There were quarterback issues. Still, Okonkwo managed to be productive, catching at least 52 passes in each of the last three seasons. Now, he'll land in a much more favorable situation, catching passes from Daniels in what is expected to be a tight-end-friendly offense. Okonkwo's skills after the catch should be more featured in Blough's offense. Daniels loved throwing to Zach Ertz. While Ertz ran precise routes and had the complete trust of Daniels, he offered nothing after the catch. When you combine Daniels's liking to throw to tight ends and Okonkwo's ability to create after the catch, he could end up easily being one of fantasy football's 10 best tight ends in 2026. That would make him an incredible value, considering he's projected to go unranked in some fantasy drafts.
