SPORTS.YAHOO.COMFred Vasseur Admits Lack of Practice Data Doomed Ferraris Hungarian GPScuderia Ferrari arrived at the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix hoping the tight, twisty layout of the Hungaroring would play to the strengths of their SF-26 chassis. Instead, Sunday afternoon unraveled into a masterclass of strategic frustration, punctuated by late pit stops, a time penalty, and a glaring lack of tire data. While Red Bulls Max Verstappen successfully managed a long, aggressive stint on the soft compound tires late in the race, Ferrari found themselves unable to replicate the feat. Now, Ferrari Team Principal Fred Vasseur is shedding light on exactly why the pit wall hesitated, admitting that a compromised free practice program forced the team into a strategic corner.Ferraris Two Bets That FailedFollowing a weekend where Lewis Hamilton saw a late-race Virtual Safety Car (VSC) gamble backfire into a frustrating fifth-place finish, the post-race interview revealed Vasseurs blunt assessment of the teams tire management logic.According to Vasseur, attempting to mimic Red Bulls late-race soft tire push was never seriously on the table for the Italian outfit. We never considered RBs strategy because we pitted a little earlier than Max, and it seemed too ambitious to think we could go to the end of the race without taking tyre life into account, Vasseur explained. The root cause of that hesitation? A severe lack of long-run data gathered prior to Sunday. The reality was different. We didnt have the opportunity to complete a long run on all three tyre compounds during free practice, so we made two bets, Vasseur admitted in the screenshot. Today, I can say those bets didnt pay off.A Costly Late-Race GambleFerraris lack of long-run confidence was exposed during the closing stages of the Grand Prix. With 16 laps remaining in the race, McLarens Oscar Piastri suffered a gearbox failure that triggered a brief VSC period.Rather than trusting their existing rubber to hold off a charging Verstappen, Ferraris pit wall blinked. The team called Hamilton into the pits, attempting to utilize an undercut strategy with a fresh set of soft tires to push to the checkered flag. However, the gamble to surrender track position completely backfired. Hamilton was not only forced to relinquish his podium spot to Verstappen, but a slight miscalculation on the pit limiter exiting the box slapped the seven-time champion with a razor-thin 0.1 km/h speeding penalty.Without the crucial free practice data to properly model tire degradation on the Hungarorings demanding surface, Ferrari was left flying blind against a Red Bull squad that executed perfectly. As the 2026 season marches toward the summer break, Vasseurs squad must figure out how to lock in their setups earlier in the weekend, or risk making more losing bets on Sunday.0 Comments 0 Shares 30 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMFury v Joshua closer but hurdles still to clearFury and Joshua haven't shared the ring for 16 years [Getty Images]The long-awaited heavyweight fight between Britons Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua has moved a step closer after they won their respective warm-up fights - but not without plenty of drama.Fury was first into the ring on Friday, stopping 46-year-old Mariusz Wach in seven rounds in Pattaya, Thailand.Joshua's night in Saudi Arabia was a different story.Facing little-known Albanian Kristian Prenga, Joshua was expected to ease through his comeback. Instead, he was dropped after just 20 seconds and again in the opening round before producing a stunning turnaround to stop Prenga in the second. With both men winning and contracts already agreed, the biggest fight in British boxing remains on course. Reports have suggested purses of around $100million (75m) each, so there is every incentive to get the deal over the line. But there are still a few hurdles to clear. After chaotic return, where does Joshua win leave Fury fight?'It's done' - Hearn says Fury-AJ will happenMany expected Fury to fly straight from Thailand to Saudi Arabia for a face-off inside the ring after a Joshua win.Remarkably, the only time they have ever shared a ring was during a sparring session at Finchley Amateur Boxing Club in 2010.After beating Wach, Fury insisted he would not travel to Jeddah and, despite rumours throughout Saturday, he kept his word. Reporters even briefly thought he had arrived when a Fury lookalike stepped out of a car outside the arena. But Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn insisted a fight with Fury will happen next."It's done. We signed a legally binding contract about three months ago," Matchroom's Hearn said.Netflix is expected to broadcast the fight globally to more than 325 million subscribers but the biggest unanswered question is when and where.New York in November the frontrunnerNew York's Madison Square Garden in November is understood to be among the leading options as Saudi organisers look to maximise the event's appeal in America.British fans, understandably, want the fight in the United Kingdom - specifically at Wembley Stadium.Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh has previously suggested if the bout were staged in Britain, it would have to start in the early hours of the morning to cater for the lucrative American television audience. It would not be unprecedented. Ricky Hatton's fight against Kostya Tszyu in Manchester in 2005 began at about 02:00 BST while Joe Calzaghe's victories over Jeff Lacy and Mikkel Kessler also started after midnight.Cardiff's Principality Stadium would welcome the opportunity to host Fury-Joshua, but the fight would have to be held on either Saturday, 31 October or Saturday, 28 November. The three Saturdays in between all host Wales rugby internationals.Wembley Stadium's curfew is 23:00, although London Mayor Sadiq Khan and Brent Council have indicated they would be open to discussions about extending it for this major sporting event. However, sources close to the mayor told BBC Sport on Friday organisers had not been in touch.Joshua knocked down twice as dramatic win sets up Fury fightJoshua's emotional win over Prenga in picturesFury wins low-key warm-up to keep Joshua fight on trackBut AJ wants it at WembleyJoshua and Fury have signed separate contracts with Alalshikh, who is financing the fight.Hearn, however, insists their agreement is for the bout to take place in Britain."We insisted that this fight was in the UK," Hearn said. "I know that AJ will sometimes want to be a little bit of a peacekeeper but the reality is he said to me, 'I want the fight in the UK. This is a British fight'. I can't agree more."We would have conversations but the only way the fight doesn't take place in England is if Anthony Joshua and myself agree to it because we have a legally binding contract."Joshua also made his preference clear after his win."I wouldn't expect it to be at Tottenham [Hotspur Stadium] or the [Cardiff] Principality Stadium, respectfully," he said. "It's just got that history when you think of Wembley."Hearn says if Saudi organisers decide they want to stage the fight in America instead, Joshua's contract would need to be renegotiated. Is Fury v Joshua still a huge fight? From a purist's perspective, the fight comes years too late.Fans wanted Fury and Joshua to meet when both were world champions and at the peak of their powers rather than after years of negotiations, failed talks and defeats.Other super-fights have also arrived later than many hoped, including Floyd Mayweather's victory over Manny Pacquiao in 2015 and, closer to home, Amir Khan's defeat by Kell Brook in 2022.Commercially, though, Fury v Joshua remains enormous.Joshua's knockout of Jake Paul introduced him to a wider American audience beyond traditional boxing fans, while Fury has built a huge following through his appearances on WWE, trilogy with Deontay Wilder and his Netflix series.Fury and Joshua are two of Britain's biggest sporting personalities. For casual fans around the world, that is reason enough to tune in and to sell out any stadium or arena.Who is the favourite to win?Joshua's comeback against Prenga was one of the bravest performances of his career but it also highlighted familiar vulnerabilities. Dropped twice by a heavyweight competing at world level for the first time, he somehow recovered to produce a dramatic stoppage victory. It also came under extraordinary circumstances.Joshua was fighting for the first time since surviving the car crash in Nigeria that claimed the lives of his close friends Sina Ghami and Latif 'Latz' Ayodele. The emotional burden was obvious afterwards as he struggled to speak during his post-fight interview. His recent results and performances do raise eyebrows. Since the end of 2023, Joshua has beaten Otto Wallin, former UFC champion Francis Ngannou, YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul and the unknown Prenga. The last time he faced a top-level operation, he suffered a damaging knockout defeat by Daniel Dubois.Fury has not looked untouchable either. Before comfortably beating Wach, he outpointed Arslanbek Makhmudov in April but had previously lost back-to-back world title fights to Oleksandr Usyk. His split-decision win over Ngannou in 2023 also came after he was knocked down by the MMA star.Perhaps the question is no longer who is the better heavyweight but who has declined the least.Joshua still possesses knockout power but Fury's movement, ring IQ and adaptability make him the favourite.Boxing schedule and results 2026Watch every Born to Brawl episode More boxing from the BBC Notifications, social media and more with BBC Sport0 Comments 0 Shares 33 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMEngland's Langton feared for gymnastics future after fallLangton contested the floor, rings and parallel bars before falling on the horizontal bar in the final rotation [Getty Images]England's Gabriel Langton said he feared for his future in gymnastics after his horror fall at the Commonwealth Games, but will "definitely be back to it" soon. The 19-year-old spent 20 hours in a neck brace before being discharged from hospital, having fallen from three metres directly on to his head in Friday's competition.Langton said it was a move on the high bars he had competed "1,000 times and it is once that has happened".He said he initially felt frustrated and embarrassed before coming to realise the severity of the situation."I knew I could speak and move my fingers and toes so my main thing was 'hopefully I can do gymnastics again'," Langton told the BBC."That question was in my head for the 20 hours until I got the MRI scan results. That was eating away at me."Seeing Langton healthy made my heart full - TobinLangton's scans showed swelling and bruising, results which meant he was allowed to leave hospital on Saturday night."A little bit sore and a little bit stiff but that is to be expected," he said of his condition."I can't really complain too much."Before his fall, Langton was attempting to move into a handstand position on the high bar but lost his grip and fell head first on to the mat. There was a lengthy delay to the competition before Langton was taken away on a trolley and then a stretcher."Once I went up and both hands have left the bar that is not the best," he said."From that moment, I knew 'oh this isn't going to be comfortable'."The England team went on to secure a silver medal behind Canada in the competition. The teenager did not receive his medal until he returned to the team hotel on Saturday evening, with the other members of the team gathering to applaud him."That was incredible," he said."Seeing all of the team-mates, coaches and getting my medal. I saw my personal coach from Birmingham. It was so nice."With no further competition of his own, Langton was back in the arena on Sunday to support team-mates in the men's all-around final. He said he will "take it easy for a couple of days and do the rehab" before returning to training in the near future."I trust in my gymnastics capability," he said."It was really just a freak accident."0 Comments 0 Shares 40 Views 0 Reviews

SPORTS.YAHOO.COMNFL wide receiver ranks 2026: Which team has the top receiving corps?Aside from the quarterback, there's no offensive position in the NFL more valuable than wide receiver.A league that values passing more than ever has created a marketplace where stars make $40 million annually and franchises scour the draft in hopes of finding inexpensive help to boost their aerial attack. The right wideouts can boost a flawed quarterback and push a team to the postseason. The wrong ones can make an MVP candidate flounder in a lost year.Who's in the best position to boost their passing attack? It's a team that badly needs to make its shaky quarterbacks better. But before we get to No. 1, we'll run though each team's receiver corps in an effort to separate the guys we expect to thrive from the ones who'll have to surprise us.These rankings are based on each team's presumptive top four wideouts, based on too-early depth chart estimates. That depth matters; teams left an injury away from a great passing offense becoming a mediocre one were dropped down the ranks. But having a WR1 who can consistently win is also important, clearing way for clutch yards and playoff runs.Who tops this year's list? Let's start at the bottom. All advanced stats are courtesy of NFL Pro and Sumer Sports.32. Miami DolphinsPresumptive top 4 WRs: Malik Washington, Jalen Tolbert, Tutu Atwell, Chris Bell or Caleb Douglas We may have no idea whether or not Malik Willis can be a franchise quarterback this season, because these are his wideouts. Washington rose to the occasion in spurts last year, Tolbert may benefit from a change of scenery and the Bell/Douglas combination is an interesting pairing of low floor, high-ceiling rookies. But, hooooo buddy, this is a rough preseason look.31. Las Vegas Raiders Presumptive top 4 WRs: Jalen Nailor, Tre Tucker, Jack Bech, Dont'e Thornton Jr. Nailor will get the chance to shine in Las Vegas, one season after he posted a 1.5 percent catch rate over expected and 40 yards after catch over expected (YACOE) whilst stranded on Minnesota's Island of Misfit QBs last season. That should be a boon for Fernando Mendoza (and KIrk Cousins), while Tucker is a viable downfield threat. Otherwise, the Raiders badly need some young, high variance prospects to pan out to make this group work.30. Cleveland Browns Presumptive top 4 WRs: Jerry Jeudy, KC Concepcion, Denzel Boston, Cedric Tillman Jeudy wasn't helped by the Browns' putrid quarterback play, but he was a disaster last season. His -9.1 percent catch rate over expected (CROE) was sixth-worst among qualified wideouts. His -46 expected points added (EPA) were worst in the NFL by a mile, nearly 20 points worse than second place Javonte Williams (who is, notably, not a wide receiver). The infusion of young talent could help, as Concepcion is a shifty run after catch machine and Boston has the frame and ball skills to be a consistent downfield threat. The question is whether any of that will matter amidst another season of the league's least compelling quarterback battle.29. Kansas City Chiefs Presumptive top 4 WRs: Rashee Rice, Xavier Worthy, Tyquan Thornton, Jalen Royals Rice is a short range target marred by off-field issues. Worthy has deep ball speed but caught only three of 17 deep targets last season (a -19.1 CROE). Thornton revived his career and I'm still optimistic Royals can be a useful depth option, but the cupboard has not yet been restocked for Patrick Mahomes.28. Washington Commanders Presumptive top 4 WRs: Terry McLaurin, Treylon Burks, Antonio Williams, Dyami Brown or Luke McCaffrey The Commanders remain in danger of wasting McLaurin's prime. Adding an eventually released Brandon Aiyuk would bring some name value, but he was declining before his 2024 injury and the subsequent nonsense that followed. Burks has solid catch skills but is inconsistent. Brown has only shined in limited stretches and Williams/McCaffrey are lottery ticket Day 2 picks who could rise to the occasion but have low floors as well.27. San Francisco 49ers Presumptive top 4 WRs: Ricky Pearsall, Mike Evans, Christian Kirk, De'Zhaun Stribling Kyle Shanahan heavily values players with run-after-catch ability to pump up good-not-great quarterbacks. That's going to be tough to find in 2026; his top three veteran wideouts all had negative yards after catch over expected (YACOE) last season. Stribling felt like a reach at the top of the second round, but his burner speed may be the grease that keeps the Niners' offensive gears turning. Evans' impact waned last season; was that a result of injuries to both himself and Baker Mayfield, or is time finally catching up to him?26. New York Jets Presumptive top 4 WRs: Garrett Wilson, Adonai Mitchell, Omar Cooper Jr., Tim Patrick Wilson has a bit of support this season after struggling through 2025. Mitchell could still turn into something, but at the moment he's more a collection of elite traits than anything approaching an efficient and reliable wideout. Cooper is a first round pick who could immediately be Wilson's Sundance Kid. Patrick remains a big bodied veteran, though his production has waned and he'll turn 33 this season.25. Atlanta Falcons Presumptive top 4 WRs: Drake London, Olamide Zaccheaus, Jahan Dotson, Zacharian Branch London is propping up a unit that would otherwise be the worst in the NFL. His ball tracking skills and immense catch radius will be put the test as he sees a litany of brackets from opposing secondaries with little else to fear at wideout. Zaccheaus had, in terms of advanced stats, his worst season as a pro as a Chicago Bear last fall. Dotson averaged a woeful 0.64 yards per route run the last two seasons in Philadelphia.24. New York Giants Presumptive top 4 WRs: Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, Malachi Fields, Calvin Austin III A healthy Nabers makes this group dangerous. If he can't go, a who's who of faded stars are ready to step up (and probably underwhelm): Darnell Mooney, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Braxton Berrios and, sigh, Odell Beckham Jr. will all take reps in training camp this summer.23. Buffalo BillsPresumptive top 4 WRs: DJ Moore, Khalil Shakir, Joshua Palmer, Keon Coleman (or Skyler Bell) Shakir is a solid short-range target who can generate bonus yards with the ball in his hands. He'd work best with an attention-stealing deep threat to occupy safeties, but Moore's last two seasons in Chicago showcased a player in decline. Palmer is a solid WR3 type, Coleman is still on the roster despite getting publicly slammed by team management and Bell is well, a lot like Shakir with his run-after-catch juice. Josh Allen can still make this all work, but it won't be easy.22. Green Bay Packers Presumptive top 4 WRs: Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Matthew Golden, Savion Williams Green Bay has been a committee job since Davante Adams left town. Matt LaFleur's offense does a great job of getting players open and reducing the amount they have to lift to make the offense work. But this year's receiving corps is thinner than ever, and the Packers are placing a lot of faith in a WR1 who averages 12 games per season and has never had more than 620 receiving yards in a year. The hope is Golden will seize his first round potential and Reed will remain healthy, while Williams could rise up the depth chart on top of handling gadget play duties.21. Indianapolis Colts Presumptive top 4 WRs: Alec Pierce, Josh Downs, Nick Ikhine-Westbrook, Ashton Dulin Indianapolis paid big to retain Pierce at the cost of having to trade away Michael Pittman. Now the Colts have to hope his downfield speed created Pittman's open looks and not vice versa. Downs can thrive as a high-volume slot target, but after that things get dicey. Ikhine-Westbrook is the new Pittman, but he's coming off a season where he had 11 catches in 14 games for the receiver-needy Dolphins.20. Baltimore Ravens Presumptive top 4 WRs: Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, Devontez Walker, Ja'Kobi Lane (or maybe Elijah Sarratt) As is tradition, the Ravens are hoping to bolster Lamar Jackson with a lineup of young receivers with plenty to prove. Flowers has shown he belongs in the starting lineup. Bateman occasionally gets there when health allows (which isn't often). It's up to Walker, Lane and Sarratt to prove they aren't the next iteration of guys like Tylan Wallace, Devin Duvernay, Miles Boykin and Jaleel Scott and fill out the depth of a receiving corps that also has to cover for a weakened tight end group.19. Los Angeles Chargers Presumptive top 4 WRs: Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston, Tre Harris, KeAndre Lambert-Smith McConkey struggled to build on his impressive rookie campaign but should see his targets rise following Keenan Allen's departure. Johnston has moved in the opposite direction, emerging as a solid downfield threat with run after catch ability after a brutal rookie 2023. If Harris can live up to his draft status after an anonymous rookie year, this group has some juice -- especially with Oronde Gadsden II serving as a super-sized slot target. If not, well, Jim Harbaugh will happily establish the run with his reloaded offensive line either way.18. Arizona Cardinals Presumptive top 4 WRs: Marvin Harrison Jr., Michael Wilson, Kendrick Bourne Reggie Virgil? This leans heavily on a Marvin Harrison Jr. well, not revival, because he's yet to pay off the interest involved with being a top-four draft pick, but promotion to something better. We know Wilson can ball when given the chance, but a return to the Maserati Marv days at Ohio State -- (checks earpiece), ah, I'm hearing only Gus Johnson ever called him this, apologies -- would go a long way in making an offense led by either Jacoby Brissett, Gardner Minshew II or Carson Beck tolerable. Oh hey, Kendrick Bourne is here, too. He'll be 31 before the season begins, but had a nice, high-efficiency revival in his return to the Niners last year.17. Houston Texans Presumptive top 4 WRs: Nico Collins, Jayden Higgins, Jaylin Noel and, hopefully, a healthy Tank Dell Collins is a legit do-whatever-you-need WR1. Higgins was showing signs of being a proper running mate late in his rookie campaign (36 catches, 464 yards and four touchdowns in Houston's final 11 games). A lot here rides on Noel or Dell, who missed the entire 2025 season due to a knee injury, emerging as a WR2/3 who can thrive in the single coverage opportunities his teammates create. This group could be amazing. Or it could be a one-man show.16. Pittsburgh Steelers Presumptive top 4 WRs: DK Metcalf, Michael Pittman Jr., Germie Bernard, Roman Wilson Pittman is a short range target who consistently creates space, which is wonderful when your quarterback is 42 years old and wants nothing more than to get rid of the ball lest he takes the kind of hit that turns his bones into liquid. Metcalf struggled in his first year as a Steeler, but having someone close to the line of scrimmage should create more opportunities for him to get back to his old self (being big, running fast, using sign language in the end zone). Bernard is another run-after-catch guy who can lift a flawed offense and Wilson well, we'll see if there's any juice to be squeezed.15. New Orleans Saints Presumptive top 4 WRs: Chris Olave, Jordyn Tyson, DeVaughn Vele, Bryce Lance The potential here is high and requires a lot to go right. Olave and Tyson have both spent stretches of the last three seasons injured. Vele is a big, efficient target who can lift up his quarterback but also disappears in stretches. Lance is a rookie from an FCS program (well, it was when he was there). There will be a few games where these pieces mostly fit together and Tyler Shough looks awesome in Kellen Moore's offense. We just don't quite know how long it could last.14. Tennessee Titans Presumptive top 4 WRs: Carnell Tate, Wan'Dale Robinson, Calvin Ridley, Chimere Dike A lot needs to go right for Tennessee to live up to this ranking. But squint hard enough and you can see it. The latest Ohio State stud wideout makes an immediate impact as a rookie. Robinson, his route tree fleshed out by necessity in New York, continues to win downfield. Ridley, the pressure reduced from his shoulders, perks up after a brutal 2025 (albeit at age 31). Dike and Elic Ayomanor emerge as young part-time playmakers. I'm optimistic, even though years of Titans experience suggests I should not be.13. Carolina Panthers Presumptive top 4 WRs: Tetairoa McMillan, Jalen Coker, Xavier Legette, Chris Brazzell II McMillan lived up to expectations as a top 10 draft pick, showcasing the quarterback-saving catch radius that shined at Arizona. Coker had a remarkable +20.8 percent CROE in the slot and can absolutely thrive underneath. Then things get dicey. Legette was a net drain on the offense (negative EPA and CROE when targeted). Brazzell is a third-round rookie who could supplant Legette or face similar struggles.12. Philadelphia Eagles Presumptive top 4 WRs: DeVonta Smith, Makai Lemon, Dontayvion Wicks, Marquise Brown There's a big jump into the top 12, and the next few teams all have top 10 capability. Philly backfilled AJ Brown's departure with a shotgun blast of new talent. Lemon can thrive with his ability to create space from the slot or outside. Wicks' production and efficiency have both waned since a solid 2023 rookie campaign, but he's a valuable mid-range target. Brown is a useful veteran set of hands coming off the most efficient season of his career. Can new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion use that depth and versatility to frustrate opposing secondaries?11. Tampa Bay BuccaneersPresumptive top 4 WRs: Chris Godwin, Emeka Egbuka, Jalen McMillan, Ted Hurst III This puts a lot of trust in comebacks. That Godwin will play a full season at age 30 (and that his high level run-after-catch ability will continue to thrive). That Egbuka is the player we saw the first half of 2025 and not the second. That McMillan can bounce back from an injury plagued 2025 and be the guy who had 114 yards in Week 17. That Hurst can contribute as a downfield threat as a rookie out of Georgia State. The talent is there, however, leading to a potentially divisive top 12 ranking.10. Jacksonville Jaguars Presumptive top 4 WRs: Brian Thomas Jr., Parker Washington, Jakobi Meyers, a little Travis Hunter? Meyers' arrival in the middle of the 2025 season opened up the Jacksonville offense under Liam Coen. Can his presence help revive Thomas, who fell off signicantly after more than 1,200 yards as a rookie? Can Washington's torrid pace to end the year -- 48 catches, 747 yards and five touchdowns over his last 10 games -- continue? Will Hunter thrive in limited use as he sets his sights on defense? This may be the most interesting wideout group in the NFL.9. Chicago BearsPresumptive top 4 WRs: Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III, Kalif Raymond, Zavion Thomas The Bears' receiver corps thins out after the top two, in part because they have two athletic young tight ends who can shine downfield (Colston Loveland, Cole Kmet). Though Odunze played less in 2025 than he did as a rookie, he saw his target share, EPA and yards per route run all increase significantly in Chicago's postseason glow-up. Burden's 2.68 YPRR were third-best in the NFL, behind only Puka Nacua and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Neither one of these guys is older than 24.8. New England PatriotsPresumptive top 4 WRs: AJ Brown, Romeo Doubs, Mack Hollins, Kayshon Boutte or Kyle Williams or Demario Douglas New England used the assets at its disposal to maximize the championship window created by Drake Maye's rookie contract. Brown and Doubs will make an average of $49 million annually to form a 1-2 punch that can bail a young quarterback out of trouble -- something that wasn't a problem until it suddenly was in last year's postseason. Hollins is 32 years old, but coming off a season in which he set career highs in catch rate and CROE, making him a reliable safety valve on top of his blocking and general good vibes. Boutte is a contested catch wizard who may be redundant with Brown on the roster, while Williams and Douglas play two very different games but fill out the depth chart.7. Seattle Seahawks Presumptive top 4 WRs: Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp, Rashid Shaheed, Tory Horton The reigning offensive player of the year could use some help, but there's no denying Smith-Njigba's ability to consistently beat double teams and create clutch yards (89 of his 119 catches went for first downs or touchdowns). Kupp is 33 years old but still capable of creating space in the intermediate and short ranges. Shaheed was more of a decoy than a home run hitter after moving north, but his burner speed makes life easier for everyone. Horton played sparingly as a rookie due to injury (which helped necessitate Shaheed's presence), but emerged as a promising downfield target as a fifth round rookie.6. Denver Broncos Presumptive top 4 WRs: Courtland Sutton, Jaylen Waddle, Troy Franklin, Marvin Mims (and also Pat Bryant) Like the Patriots, Denver opted to use the cap space created by a 2024 draft pick at quarterback to upgrade the receiving corps. Waddle was forced to incorporate more deep targets into his arsenal after Tyreek Hill's injury last season but still managed to be a net positive despite Miami's lack of options around him. Now he can go back to thriving in the intermediate range with a lineup chock full of young talent around him. Sutton isn't young, just big and sturdy as hell, giving him the chops to haul in passes through traffic. Franklin was a small sample size go-to in the red zone (four touchdowns) and could thrive in the space his top two wideouts create (even with fewer targets).5. Detroit Lions Presumptive top 4 WRs: Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Isaac TeSlaa, Greg Dortch St. Brown remains prolific, even as his efficiency dipped in a disappointing season for the Lions. Williams is a wonderful counterbalance; a deep threat who averaged better than 17 yards per catch each of the last two seasons and can wiggle out of jams with the ball in his hands. TeSlaa is the enigma. The former Division II star was, on average, targeted deeper downfield than Williams and turned 27 targets into six touchdowns. Can his second season as a pro elevate him into a status beyond "bargain who saved your daily fantasy lineup?"4. Los Angeles Rams Presumptive top 4 WRs: Puka Nacua, Davante Adams, Jordan Whittington, Xavier Smith The Rams' receiving corps is one injury (or in Nacua's case, suspension) from being in real trouble, thanks in part to a top-heavy lineup designed to maximize the waning years of Matthew Stafford. But Nacua is one of the league's most efficient players. Adams wins in the red zone more than any other wideout and Whittington showed flashes of starting material as a rookie before an uneven 2025.3. Cincinnati Bengals Presumptive top 4 WRs: Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, Andrei Iosivas, Mitchell Tinsley Chase and Higgins continue to wreak havoc on opposing defenses with their versatility. If this were solely a ranking of wideout duos, they'd be at the top. Alas, the depth behind them is concerning. Iosivas has tremendous tools but hasn't yet turned them into consistent play (he had more than 41 receiving yards only three times last season). Tinsley is a theoretical deep threat who turned 24 targets into eight catches last season. As usual, the Bengals remain one injury from collapse.2. Dallas Cowboys Presumptive top 4 WRs: CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Ryan Flournoy, KaVontae Turpin Pickens plays best when he perceives a vacuum of respect. In 2025, that manifested in 82.7 EPA -- second only to Nacua in the NFL. In 2026, he's stuck playing under the franchise tag. Dallas' second-best receiving EPA belonged to Flournoy, who served as a short-range safety valve working underneath the Cowboys' star duo and led all team wideouts with a 71.4 percent catch rate. Lamb remains Lamb, a perennial All-Pro threat whose production dipped with Pickens in town but who averaged 9.2 yards per target -- 18th best in the NFL -- anyway. Who clocked in ahead of him? That was Turpin at 10.4 yards per throw. He's more than just a special teams ace.1. Minnesota Vikings Presumptive top 4 WRs: Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Jauan Jennings, Tai Felton Minnesota is built for an underwhelming quarterback to thrive, setting the stage for either a JJ McCarthy or Kyler Murray revival this fall. Jefferson had his worst season as a pro but still managed to post a career high in yards of separation per target. Addison took a similar dip due to (gestures broadly at the 2025 Vikings' quarterbacks). Jennings battled injury throughout 2025, but at full strength he's a killer on third downs who can thrive in the space created by Minnesota's stars. This is a pick your poison combination that could be rendered inert by poor passing or make someone look great this fall. This article originally appeared on For The Win: NFL wide receiver ranks 2026: Which team has the top receiving corps?0 Comments 0 Shares 37 Views 0 Reviews
